Just eating Good Food: Paleo ish diets

Hi All

New thread for chat and recipes or links to good stuff for those doing whole 30/ Paleo/ Primal/ Clean and Lean or any other diets with a focus on eating good food mainly from scratch or as unprocessed as pos. This basically means fruit, veg, meat, fish eggs and nuts but lots of diets include different grey area foods such as quinoa, rice, dairy and legumes. It is just a case of experimenting to see what works.

Personally I am aiming to ditch the phrase 'fell off the wagon' this year and keep the 80:20 approach in mind, technically this adds up to 73 days or 10 and a half weeks a year of eating the other stuff or grey area foods if we choose too- more than enough to cover birthdays, holidays and lunch with Granny! Mindful eating at these times though.

ooh aubergine pizza sounds good Favadi! Never heard of meatsa but I guess its pizza toppings on ham?

Glad its going well so far tootley Grin

I have readdicted myself to milk it seems, have really struggled this week to make good choices but totm has started today so that prob explains a lot! Going to try and get lower on carbs and lose a few lbs this week. I have been doing T25 workouts for 10 weeks and its my final week so want to be as reduced as possible for when I take my after photos Blush that's probably cheating a bit

Hope all having a good weekend

Meatsa is basically a beefburgery type base...but thin iyswim with normal pizza toppings....Tis lovely...I think Nigella has a nice recipe, I have a paleo recipe somewhere in the abyss of my bookmarks.....
Aubergine pizza sounds interesting.does it go crispy? I always think of aubergine as being soggy, one of the few veggies I don't eat ..The gf base made me dribble a bit lol (ds not good with wheat...surprise!) so might ask for that recipe :)
Yum yum what's a t25 workout? And well done ten weeks is awesome!!

Well whole 30 a bit scuppered as mums birthday at end of week...(bad planning on my part, I may have forgotten Blush ) she lives with us and there would be a unhappy ma if we didn't eat birthday treat with her...I know there's probs a diplomatic whole 30 answer to this but they haven't met her lol but apart from making a baileys chocolate cheesecake I should be able to stay pretty much paleo, will just have to restart afterwards....hope all are having lovely bank holiday, four days at home is bliss :)

That looks intense, even more kudos!
Aye be fine :) we all had a stomach bug, which was horrid but has kick started weight loss......not my ideal method though!!
Hope you all doing well

yumyumpoppycat · 09/04/2015 19:27

Oh no hope you are on the mend! Oh well weightloss compensates a little. I am doing ok but drinking too many lattes they are a bit of a meal supplement sometimes which is obviously a bit crappy!

Hi how is everyone doing, I seem to have killed the thread sorry Blush

Just an update - I have now finished the 10 week t25 exercise thing and have lost 16 lbs. With the 10lbs I lost last year doing paleoish diets that makes 26lbs lost thanks to low grains and sugar and on and off with dairy but still a lot more weight to lose.

I have exercised, just had bacon and eggs and kale for brunch, and the sun is shining so feeling happy! Just need to get on with housework and getting the children out of the house now...

Ooh well done, that's brilliant weight loss! starting back on whole 30 at the weekend....can't wait to be honest, the last week has had some poor diet choices (no weight gain though which is a plus) but oh the bloat!
And yes lovely to have the weather perking up, I've been looking at trike to commute and drop tiddler at nursery....

yumyumpoppycat · 18/04/2015 21:15

Thanks tootley, I seem to be hellbent on undoing all my good work though this week Confused Let me know how you are doing with whole 30, hopefully it will spur me on to make better choices too!

Hello- I know noones posted here in a few weeks but I thought I'd add to a previous thread rather than start my own in the hope of finding buddies!

I have (unwittingly!) started whole 30 today! I have been reading up on jf for a little while and earlier in the week did a completely whole 30-friendly shop, just thinking I'd try this way of eating but not get hung up on it. The last 3 days have basically been whole-30 lite, but I've been reading more about it/watching videos on youtube and now feeling fully motivated to go for it. I looked at the diary and realised that it makes absolute sense to start today- the next 2 weeks I don't have too many social occasions to deal with, and in exactly 30 days I have a weekend planned with my best friend when it would be brilliant to be able to celebrate completing the challenge! So I'm going for it. Last night I ate out, and it was a pretty naughty meal- steak (fine) but with sweet potato fries (probably have naughty ingredients) and salad smothered in blue cheese dressing (yum, but bad) and a large glass of Malbec (alcohol is definitely what I'm going to miss most), and it feels like that was a bit of last-minute indulgence prior to a strict 30 days.

So, today's food has been:
Grapes and almonds for breakfast (running late for work, eating in car!) then I also grabbed some Brazil nuts and dried cranberries around 12 prior to going to yoga.
Lunch more appropriate, I had asparagus with a poached egg, on a bed of rocket with some oil/vinegar dressing and a little salt and pepper. Yummy, probably not enough protein though.
Dinner I've got some trout fillets that I've put a cashew crust on are baking, and have with roasted peppers & tomatoes and the rest of the rocket probably. Then later I'm going to go to the big tesco and stock up for the next few days, and do this thing properly.
