6 months to lose 2 stone

sacbina · 27/02/2015 23:48

currently size 18 and had enough. 2 pre schoolers who either walk at a snail's pace or run off. both fussy with food which I get annoyed at and then finish their plates. exercise options limited due to dcs, late working dh and so lack of childcare

apart from obviously eating less and exercising more, which hasn't been going well since beginning of Jan, what's my best option?

happy to consider all options, although easiest and least time consuming preferable

I've been doing Slimming World since November and just hit my two stone award. I was an 18 pre pregnancy and lost a stone prior to joining SW. I've not managed to do any exercise at all really, so that loss is just from sticking to the diet.

Hurr1cane · 28/02/2015 09:07

I do t25 every morning before DS wakes up. It's hard work but you can moderate first.

Then I use my fitness pal to count my calories.

I'm 5"7 and I was 11 stone 1

It's been 2.5 weeks and I'm now 9 stone 12. Which was my goal but now I want to be 9 stone 5.

I don't drink in the week anymore, just at weekends. It's not just about eating less. There's loads of calories in drinks, even soft drinks when you look, so I've switched to just water.

calzone · 28/02/2015 09:09

I have lost 18lbs with SW since the beginning of January.

Really easy.
Great food.

Finlaggan · 28/02/2015 09:30

hurr1cane how many calories do you allow yourself each day? I'm 5'7 and 11st 4 looking to lose over a stone and have been looking at MFP

Hurr1cane · 28/02/2015 10:31

Finlaggen... Not very many... But I've never been a big eater really. Just drank a lot over Christmas and ate a lot of chocolate

yumyumpoppycat · 28/02/2015 13:08

Exercise dvds are your friend Sacbina! I also do T25 - we have a thread here Hurr1cane, lots of the time dc will try and join in which is a pain or they can be done first thing or during a nap.

Hurr1cane · 28/02/2015 13:15

Thanks I'll go check it out now Smile

sacbina · 28/02/2015 15:53

unfortunately there are no naps anymore Sad I'm up at 6, finally finish bedtimes by 8pm then I'm fecked, so DVDs are not my friend by then.

guess I'm hoping for a magic fat busting tablet, which I know, I know don't exist. do they?

hopefully better weather will improve dcs ability to move a bit faster, and therefore mine!

Can you occupy the preschoolers while you do a dvd maybe lock them in the room you are in with stair gates with enough toys. Otherwise take them buggyless to a reasonably expansive place and let them both go. Half an hour of that you will have hundred of calories off chasing them in 2 directions. Or a double buggy and some long walks.

I have lost 12lbs in 8 weeks and I have 1.5 stone left to go which I am allowing until July to achieve so u think yours is doable. I am using My Fitness Pal App and 3x couch to 5 k per week at the moment.

Do the shred at home : the kids can do it with you.

yumyumpoppycat · 28/02/2015 16:39

yes or look into 10 minute solutions www.amazon.co.uk/10-Minute-Solution-Blaster-Collection/dp/B009D50AZI/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1425140462&sr=1-1&keywords=10+minute+solutions or davina 7 min fit www.amazon.co.uk/Davina-Minute-Fit-New-2015/dp/B00PM5HOKW/ref=sr_1_1?s=dvd&ie=UTF8&qid=1425140506&sr=1-1&keywords=davina+7+minute+fit

You could just do one short workout then build up to more if its working out. You could leave them and your partner having breakfast together while you exercise as up at 6? I used to do this with my first 2 (23 month gap). I fell off the exercise bandwagon when pg with dc3 but back on it now and it feels like getting something done and lifts your mood.

Another option is you could wear comfy clothes and you could you tube exercises like planks jumping jacks (if your pelvic floor can take it) and just do them in short high intensity spurts as and when while they are playing?

The other option is play school my dc3 went a week after she was 2 it was £11 for a 2 and a half hour session. Or do play date swapsies with a friend with similar aged dc. Some people I now go to gyms with creche.

Could you bring bed time back 5 mins each night so they sleep at 7:30, or some of my friends would leave them with their partner before bed and go for a 20 min run.

Or if all that fails just try dieting for now as that's what causes biggest losses.

yumyumpoppycat · 28/02/2015 16:40

know not now!

sacbina · 28/02/2015 16:51

all fabulously good ideas I should be able to fit in 10 minute slots, but leaving them to play together is usually hit and miss, fights break out after 5 minutes! only 22 months apart. dd already at nursery 5 mornings a week. ds only 2 sessions at playgroup which is when I can get any chores done. and he's one of those spectacularly clingy boys Confused

dh can't assist, long commute, early start late home etc

they no longer do buggies for any good length of time either

It does sound tough to be fair Sacbina but you can do it! Grin 10 mins a day of proper exercise and rapido with the housework during playschool! I should prob do more housework and less dvds but thats another story ;)

yumyumpoppycat · 28/02/2015 16:57

Also it might be quite funny to see their faces when you randomly start doing jumping jacks while they are playing duplo Grin

madwomanbackintheattic · 28/02/2015 17:04

They are pre-schoolers. Put the dvd on and have them join in. Exercise class before snack, guys!
You sound as though you are just making excuses, to be honest. (I make them myself, so I recognise your 'oh, really, it's all too hard, I can't possibly' stance)

sacbina · 28/02/2015 17:05

oh and what's a shred? sounds a bit like my head at the moment Grin

Level 1 for free -

yumyumpoppycat · 28/02/2015 17:10

oops cross post

sacbina · 28/02/2015 17:12

it's not a 'not possible' stance, but a reason as to why it's all such a pickle now!

unless you've met my ds you have no idea!

Hurr1cane · 28/02/2015 17:19

I know how you feel. My DS has very complex needs and I'm up every hour of the night to check on him. He goes to sleep about 11-12, up at 6am latest.

So, I get up at 5 or before to do my workout.

There aren't any magic solutions, but you can just very strictly diet if you don't want to exercise.

yumyumpoppycat · 28/02/2015 17:35

Hurr1cane you must be exhausted... hope you have support?
