Whole 30

I'm going to do the Whole 30 challenge starting on the 1st of February. Anyone interested in joining in?

For those who don't know what Whole 30 is I'll give the links:

whole30.com/

A brief synopsis is that you basically eat whole foods for all your meals for thirty days. Sugar, grains, dairy and legumes are all off the list.

For any doubters among you here are the testimonials that the whole food way is life changing:

Mmm, I love Sainsbury's.

How about 'You have one job: Eat Good Food.'

Don't do the ponytail method. The last time I did that was 10 years ago and in a misguided attempt to get layers I ended up with short hair at the back and long at the front in a very bad way. Took months to grow out.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/02/2015 20:03

Or 'Just one rule: Eat Good Food' ? or Just Eating Good Food

I do like to overthink things ;)

Ok will give ponytail method a miss and just deduct a lb or two to cover my general lack of grooming Grin

AndHarry · 27/02/2015 20:14

Any variation, I'm sure you'll think of the perfect phrasing :o

Ok, so I got a bit impatient and got DH to do my measurements this evening. Drumroll please...

Total weight loss: 3.2kg/ 7lb
Total inch loss: 15"

Ta da! I'm still overweight but only by 1.5kg so I'm getting there and Jillian Michaels will banish the wobbles.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/02/2015 20:33

Oh my goodness 15 inches Shock and half a stone - that is amazing well done esp when you are right close to your goal weight! Where did you take measurements from (I'm assuming that's not from your hair he he)

AndHarry · 27/02/2015 20:42

Haha! No, I'll add that tomorrow Wink This is the breakdown:

Chest: 2"
Right arm: 1"
Left arm: 1"
Waist: 3"
Belly button: 4"
Hips: 2"
Right thigh: 1"
Left thigh: 1"

DH took the measurements using the guidance on this site: www.lisafoleyfitness.co.uk/measure-inch-loss/

I weighed myself again this morning for time consistency. Total weight loss is 3.9kg/ 8lb. If I get a pixie cut I reckon I could get within healthy BMI range Wink

yumyumpoppycat · 28/02/2015 09:48

Well done 8lbs is brill - pixie cut - genius!

Here's my stats - these were actually from 2 weeks before whole 30 when I started T25 workout dvds, but I didn't exercise for 3 of those 5 weeks as feeling poorly and wasn't eating well before whole 30 . I did't think to do stats at start of whole 30 annoyingly.

belly button 4 cm loss
waist (above belly button) 8 cm
chest 3 cm
hips 2 cm
weight 10 lbs down. Have lost at least 5 lbs while doing whole 30. I have stalled for the last week or so but 3 people have asked/ said I have lost weight this week Confused

yumyumpoppycat · 01/03/2015 16:16

Posting this so I can find it again (probiotics and high fat diet) humanfoodproject.com/can-a-high-fat-paleo-diet-cause-obesity-and-diabetes/

AndHarry · 01/03/2015 16:34

That's brilliant yum! Are you happy with it? I suppose I should ask: any non-weight related wins?

yumyumpoppycat · 01/03/2015 17:20

Thanks Harry I think I feel calmer - family life bit more harmonious at mo but it may be a coincidence! My skin is softer and less dry. How about you?

So much for gradual reintroduction today .. best leave it at that! How was it at your grandmother's?

I am planning to get pretty much back to whole 30 tomorrow but going to play with high fat for a bit like this woman www.examiner.com/article/woman-loses-88-lbs-on-high-fat-keto-paleo-diet-becomes-reddit-sensation ... i possibly get a rash on v low carb, if so I will go back to normal healthy higher carbs if that happens again. At the moment I probably look like picture 2 or 3 in that link so need to get to number 4!

AndHarry · 01/03/2015 18:17

I still have PMT and bad skin, so back to the GP I go, although I did sleep a lot better. What I have really noticed is that I know when I'm full and once I get there, I don't feel like eating anything else so I've stopped snacking.

Yesterday was a huge carb, sugar and dairy-fest. No gradual re-introduction here! I felt absolutely exhausted after it though (and two very long drives) so today I've been pretty w30 consistent. I've kept my meal planning this week in-line with w30 too.

yumyumpoppycat · 01/03/2015 18:24

Oh hope the GP can help Flowers pmt sucks. Disappointing it hasn't helped with those yet.. sometimes proper medicine is the best option though.

Dp has annoying habit of saying ahhh your period will start tomorrow. Me: WHAAAT!!! Dp: nothing!

If we are still going to be pretty much w30 shall we just still post here my latest thread title if we do jump ship is 'Just eat Good Food: for people on a paleo ish diet'

I am trying to drink a cup of tea with milk as I type (and cook roast) it's revolting Shock tastes really cowey and gone off!

yumyumpoppycat · 01/03/2015 19:16

PS well done on giving up snacking, I def need to work on that I think, or at least snack mindfully and sitting down etc.

Blondii · 01/03/2015 19:35

Can I join please. Im doing medium low carb/paleo type thing and there are no current threads. What will you all be doing now the month is up please? Yummy have you started the new thread you mentioned? I did look but couldn't see anything :)

yumyumpoppycat · 01/03/2015 20:11

No I haven't! I will start a new thread now Blondii

Blondii · 01/03/2015 20:29
