Low/No Sugar

So it seems a few people are keen to try this. I am for sure. But I know very little about how to achieve it.

DD1 (3yo) has got obsessed with chocolate over the festive period and DD2 (5mths) will be weaning soon so I'm keen to get in a healthier place for them - as well as for my own good too. I could do with losing 20lbs plus my skin is dire, as are my moods and energy levels. I'm breastfeeding DD2 so find I get very hungry very quickly and am all too quick to reach for chocolate/cake/sweets/biscuits.

Not sure I could be a purist and go as far as cutting out potatoes or rice etc but I need to do something.

I could really do with a list of low/no sugar foods and meal ideas on which to base meal plans and to have a decent list of healthy-ish snacks to keep me going in between meals.

Anyone care to join/help?

Fringe that sounds soooo tasty

Fcuk it's a cirque du soliel show... Absolutely mesmerising! It's something that id recommend anyone to go watch Grin

How's everyone's week been? I always find that I start off well and get progressively worse as the week goes on!

So far have managed to hold off anything sweets and chocolate wise but been eating alot of those m&s salad pot things, they've got sugar added but I just can't be bothered to cook at the moment!

Caved and had some chocolate. Not as much as I would normally have eaten though and everything else today will be low sugar to try and compensate a bit.

Hi all. Was chatting to a friend today and she suggested coconut sugar as a replacement for normal sugar. It is unrefined and low GI and has 15 cals per tsp. Apparently it tastes slightly caramel rather than coconut. I bought some today - haven't tried it yet but thought it might be handy for baking. Quite pricey though - £4.50!

Anyway, thought it might be useful to some of you

Letme, that show sounds amazing! I'll have to check if they are touring. I'm still off the sugar, also changed I brown errythibg, pasta/rice etc, also found some spelt bread in Asda which is nice.

I weighed myself on Tuesday and have PUT ON 2 POUNDS!! Wtf??! So strange and I feel smaller but who knows Envy

Have you tried the beef teriyaki salad bites from M&S? They are so nice! And about 186 cals, the dip will contain some sugar but so worth it!

How was the responses from your article??

Fringe I will look into it! I saw some coconut flour the other day which was £5 Shock let us know how you get on with the coconut sugar!

I think someone mentioned a book called sweet nothing that I am about half way through and is an ok read about someone ditching the sugar.

Thought I'd check in to see how everyone is going?

I still haven't had any choc, cakes biscuits etc Shock

But have indulged in some take aways and typically have been invited to a few meals out whilst I am usually an anti social hermit!
