SLIMMING WORLD FOLLOWERS - What's for tea?

Thought we should have our own What's for Tea thread. There's always a regular MN one going on.

I can't decide what to have tonight. DH is going out. I have tea planned already for my two dds (KFC treat - I will have the willpower not to buy myself anything).

Just had a lovely mushroom omelette and a hi-fi bar for lunch but am sure I will be starving later.

DH has gone out and I'm home alone (well dds are here). I am leaning towards a chinese and a bottle of wine. Talk me out of it!!!!!

Just been to the pub with dh for beer festival he had 3 pints plus a roast pork baguette and apple crumble!

I had sparkling mineral water, lamb baguette without the baguette! and then a banana split without the split!

Had a yummy seafood sald for lunch it will be worth ot on tuesday when I weigh in I hope!

Spookler1 · 13/10/2006 21:24

bucksman that's very good of you - now that's what I call willpower.
I didn't go for the chinese in the end. Was very good and had King Prawns, Rump Steak and I won't say anything about the white wine consumption.

I had quorn chilli with a baked potato, cheese (HE) fat free natural yoghurt and salad.

Cackle · 13/10/2006 22:23

Ham, egg and chips. Lush.

Great idea for a thread!!

My dh cooked and it's such a a rare occasion that i couldn't say no, to pasta with a roquefort and smoked bacon sauce. very un-SW but hey-ho. Tomorrow's another day.

Tomorrow will be having a Red day - Full English with toast, then tuna salad for lunch and chicken thighs stuffed with Laughing Cow and garlic and wrapped in bacon (that old SW fave!!), with HE potatoes, broccoli and green beans. MUST make an effort, am nearing my target weight so must not give in yet!!

Anyone have any great ideas for red lunches that don't involve salad??

tesspot, we're all here and happy to help!

Can I suggest you use the other SW thread as this one's more for tea time recipe ideas, I think.

What exactly do you need help with? Do you still have all the books? Let us know and we'll all give you a helping hand!

Spookler1 · 15/10/2006 20:11

We are having a go at chilli-con-carne tonight (with quorn mince) - taken it from the green recipe's book. Shall let you know what it's like. DH has offered to cook it and is currently going around sniffing his head off, eyes streaming badly from peeling the two onions that were needed in it.

Tonight is lamb steak, brocolli, swede & carrots

Spookler1 · 16/10/2006 15:34

I had a jamie oliver pasta bake (green) with mozarrella parmesan olive oil tomatoes and other bits. Fitted into three a HE and one b ( I get three extra as bfing, could have done it with less though and made it into two a's)

yumm.

evansmummy · 17/10/2006 09:34

Tonight is lamb, lentil and spinach curry with lots of rice. Lamb is HE b choice. Yummy with a dollop of vlf fromage frais or natural yoghurt on the top. And lentils are speed foods, so very good!

Spookler1 · 17/10/2006 09:45

I need to do something simple tonight. On a green day so thinking of having noodles. Might get some quorn sausages and chop them up and cover with chopped tomatoes. Does that sound alright? Bit boring though. How can I liven it up a bit?

Surfermummystomb · 18/10/2006 19:43

Stir fry beef with oyster sauce here.

evansmummy · 19/10/2006 08:32

Tonight is pasta with stir fried shredded brussel sprouts and leeks, HE b smoked bacon and HE a parmesan. You have to like sprouts for this one though!

Mumbojumbo · 20/10/2006 17:48

Just thought I'd share with you what I've just cooked for tea. Needed something warm, been feeling very cold and under the weather today:

Fry onion, garlic in pan. Add tin of mixed beans, tin of chick peas, tin of chopped tomato. Add cayenne or chilli powder to taste. Meanwhile boil potato, sweet potato and parsnip (whatever root veg you happen to have!). Put bean mixture into ovenproof dish and cover with mashed spud etc. Stick in oven for a while. Season and enjoy.

Wasn't sure, but it was surprisingly tasty and very filling! Not sure what DH will make of it

Bump this, please as I am trying to devise a weekly menu on green (all veggie house!). Three days have to be very quick to make because I get in from work at 5.30 and the children are tired so I like them to be eating by 5.50 or so!! Have had a bad 2 weeks as have not stuck to diet and need to get back on track. I figure if I have planned what we are eating for the week then I am less likely to stray!! Thanks in anticipation. xx

Mumbojumbo · 29/10/2006 09:17

When you have some time, roast a batch of onion, peppers, courgette, garlic, tomatoes (cherry and big ones). Spray with fry light and roast in oven until soft.
You can eat this hot, cold or blend it in the food processor and add another tin of tomatoes and then serve it up with pasta. I serve it to the kids with fresh pasta and meal takes about 10 mins to throw together.

MorticiaRed · 29/10/2006 20:32

Thanks, MumboJumbo - will give it a try. x
