Evening all

I could do with hooking up with a few people who are also trying to be more healthy - better diet (whichever method works for you) and more exercise. But I do so much better when I can chat to a group about how I'm doing and when I have a hand to hold when it goes wrong.

I've been on one or two on here but they never seem to get enough traffic and fade out after a few days.

So I'd really like to start a weight-loss quiche. Anyone in?

I have about 3 stone to lose, most of which I have gained after injuring my ankle and having to give up running 2 years ago. I am also a stress-eater, and with the stress of doing a degree, I have been stuffing my face lately. Now the degree is (almost) finished, but I have the stress of job-hunting, plus we're planning a relocation, so I'm still eating way more chocolate than I should! I'm getting far better with exercise though, and getting to the gym a good few times a week, so that's a start anyway.

Hey folks! Right Penguins, no crap for us today. I can do it if you can. Are you in, Yonic?

I am eating an apple .Grin

AnnieLobeseder · 20/11/2014 11:47

It's going to be tough today cos I've just had a rejection email for a job I really wanted and the urge to self-medicate with chocolate is strong.

Yrs!

StormyBrid · 20/11/2014 12:31

Oooh, can I join in? I do the eating when stressed too, and I've been quite stressed for quite a while. Stepped on the scales this morning. It wasn't pretty. But! Having finally decided to give up flogging the dead horse that is my relationship, I'm feeling rather positive about the future. Healthy eating, here I come! Won't be able to join in the exercise part though - no opportunity, with a toddler to look after.

Today I have walked about a mile and a half, and not eaten any crap. A good start!

AnnieLobeseder · 20/11/2014 12:42

Hi Stormy. Sorry about your relationship, but you seem to be in a positive place about it.

Walking a mile and a half is good exercise! But don't discount exercise DVDs and gym crèches (both a godsend when mine were smaller).

Mm, but gyms tend to need paying for! Free nursery hours after Easter though, which will give me chance to get on my exercise bike five days a week. Shifted four stone with that bike pre-pregnancy so I'm looking forward to getting back on it.

As for the relationship, all I can say is it's a relief to finally say "This is shit, and I've had enough," because now I can move on with my life without a wannabe-cocklodger dragging me down. Good times. Grin

YonicScrewdriver · 20/11/2014 13:27

About to do exercise bike now! Good to hear it helped you Stotmy!

StormyBrid · 20/11/2014 14:48

How did it go, Yonic? Are you aiming to cover a specific distance, or to keep going for a certain amount of time? Or was it just jump on and keep pedalling until your legs fall off?

YonicScrewdriver · 20/11/2014 16:19

No, I do c30 mins in front of the TV!

TheoreticalDudeOfFeminism · 20/11/2014 18:20

Can I join you? I'm not very motivated at the moment, and keep making excuses not to exercise. Worse still, I keep coming home from work and eating biscuits instead of exercising Blush

StormyBrid · 20/11/2014 19:06

During my losing-four-stone phase I used to keep a packet of biscuits at my dad's house, so every time I wanted one it was a mile round trip. I realise this is unlikely to be a viable biscuit-rationing system for anyone else though.

I had five different vegetables at teatime, and nobody pulled revolted faces! (The toddler declined very politely when I offered her some broccoli.)

Annie sorry to hear about the job rejection. Poor you. That can easily send you off into a food binge cant it. Try to see it that its not really about you, just that there was someone more suited to the position. Maybe more experience or something.

Im doing Paul McKenna and use his cds.

Nillia · 20/11/2014 19:27

Stormy Hi Smile. You said that you lost 4 stone before you became pregnant. Can I ask how you did it?

StormyBrid · 20/11/2014 20:18

Exercise bike, minimum ten (but usually fifteen) arbitrary units per day (never did work out whether they were meant to be kilometres or miles). Massively cut back on alcohol. Stopped eating anything from the five food groups of doom: biscuits, crisps, chocolate, cakes, and sweeties. Home made smoothies for lunch. Cut way back on bread, pasta, potatoes. The weight just sort of fell off, because I was just over eighteen stone at the start, and it takes quite a lot of calories to maintain that weight. And I was aiming to be healthier in order to get pregnant, which was one hell of a motivator.

Nillia · 20/11/2014 20:27

So have you put the four stone back on then?

StormyBrid · 20/11/2014 20:33

Nope, was still two stone down after giving birth, been up and down a bit but still about that weight now.

Nillia · 20/11/2014 21:27

That's good Smile

StormyBrid · 21/11/2014 09:50

It was a good learning experience too - I learned that third trimester cake-fests are not a good idea.

How is everyone this morning? Cheerful and motivated, I hope. Brew for anyone who isn't yet.

Nillia · 21/11/2014 11:16

Morning!!!!! Hi Stormy Yesterday I ate a bit unmindfully. I didn't overeat but I grazed most of the day rather than eating properly. I tend to turn to food more when I am on my own for the whole day. Today though I feel back to "me" and will be eating much more carefully.

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 21/11/2014 16:23

Hi.

Erm. I ate a chocolate bar yesterday. Oooops.

But overall happy with myself. Lots of slow cooker soups for lunch and have lost nearly 1.5 kg in two weeks. The weekend is where the wheels come off for me normally so resolving not to give up. Smile

StormyBrid · 21/11/2014 16:43

Only one bar, Penguins? I'd call that pretty good going, on the grounds that it could have been five bars. And no tasty treats at all is great until you snap and eat your body weight in junk. Sensible moderation = a much better plan.

PenguinsandtheTantrumofDoom · 21/11/2014 16:51

Yeah, but it was only meant to be a one day challenge. Grin

StormyBrid · 21/11/2014 17:42

Whoops. Well... Have you had any today?

AnnieLobeseder · 21/11/2014 17:53

Good, glad to see everyone is here. Keep chatting amongst yourselves!
