Has WW worked for everyone who tried it?

Does it really work for everyone?

DH is doing really well on it.

I have been doing it religiuosly for two weeks (wk1 lost 1lb) will get weighed again tonight. I have not struggled on it at all but the weight just does not seem to be shifting... I am going to the gym 4 times a week and am eating my points. I am not using the extras from saved gym points..

What am I doing wrong??????

Please help...I am desperate.

well possibly u are building muscle on top of the body fat by going to the gym as the fat will eventually burn away... carry on as youre doing well x

Cappuccino · 05/09/2006 10:19

do it slowly; it'll work if you're doing it right

if it doesn't after a few weeks have a word with your leader and she can look at your tracker for you

yoyo · 05/09/2006 10:19

I was thinking of joining as a very indulgent summer has resulted in a weight gain of half a stone. There are two plans aren't there? Which one are you following?
I will watch with interest to see other responses as the thought of actually joining WW fills me with dread.

flutterbee · 05/09/2006 10:25

A lb in the first week is fine, do try and drink loads of water as this will make a big difference.

Also measure yourself because I promise that what you don't lose in weight you will in inches.

Do not get on the scales between weekly weigh ins, your weight will fluctuate from day to day and can be the one reason people give up.

I'm on ww and doing fine, I have only been doing it for 4 weeks (tomorrow I weigh in) and I haven't put a lb on.

Beetroot · 05/09/2006 10:26

It does work, one pound is fine. Stay with it. You may find you lose more one week. and less the next. STAY WITH IT

CountessDracula · 05/09/2006 10:30

Yes it does work for me too if I stick to it.

I agree 1lb a week is fine, that is a stone in 14 weeks. Also you will have weeks where you lose more.

oinker · 05/09/2006 10:47

I will speak to the leader tonight. The weight is falling off Dh and he is bloody cheating!!!! [anget] I am sooooooooooooooo jealous. I am really deperate as I need an op for fertility and the docs are refusing until I loose about 2 stone. I go back to them on 17/10 and am so frustrated at just the pound loss. I need to be loosing more. At least 3 a week.
Arggggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..... I am deperate, I want the op

milkandhoney · 05/09/2006 11:01

Hope you don't mind me butting in... but when you mentioned about fertility issues, I did immediately wonder about PCOS. This can be linked with infertility, and sufferers usually find it difficult to lose weight.
Do you crave starchy, carbohydrate-rich foods? Cakes, biscuits, bread, pasta etc? I always found it very difficlut to lose weight on WW or low-fat diets in general. I had a lot more success with a low-GI diet, where refined carbohydrates are strictly limited. I also found that the diet helped to regulate my cycle and improve energy levels.

smurph · 05/09/2006 11:28

With ww weight loss is controlled. Because you are attending gym 4 times a week you have to take into consideration that you are also gaining muscle which weighs more than fat.

Stick with its well worth it.

sweetheart · 05/09/2006 12:23

oinker, I have done ww for ages on and off (between pregnancies). I found that when I was visiting the gym often like you are that I didn't loose any weight - I did drop 2 dress sizes though. I have now reduced my gym visits to 2 a week and I am loosing weight steadily. If you are doing alot of excercise you will be building muscle which is heavier than fat so you may even put on a little weight.

I'd also recommend drinking alot of water for good weight loss.

oinker · 05/09/2006 12:35

When I say gym I mean I am doing cardio stuff not weights. I don't have PCSO. I have a septate uterus, fibroids and scar tissue that's why I need an op.

Thank you all for your opinions. It is very helpful.

OP posts:
sweetheart · 05/09/2006 12:37

cardio stuff will build muscle tone too. You don't have to pump weights to build muscle.

If you want to keep up your gym visits you will slowly notice that your clothes are loose but you may stay the same weight.

Dottydot · 05/09/2006 15:34

Hi Oinker - I joined ww a few weeks ago and it's working for me. Maybe stop going to the gym for a couple of weeks - definitely drink tons of water (in my simple mind it's helping to flush the bad stuff out of me!) - and keep with it. Men always seem to lose weight quicker than women - again, my simple mind tells me our bodies like to hold onto it in case we go and have any more babies. So it will take longer for you to lose it than your dh. 3lbs a week target is very high. 1- 2 lbs a week is more realistic.

Sorry - I know it's probably not what you want to hear. At least you've started going and have started to lose weight - it's all going in the right direction - just give it time and good luck for your next weigh in - let us know how it goes.

CarlyP · 05/09/2006 15:39

Oinker, not sure how much you have to loose, if its more than 3stone, then why not try a VLCD like lighterlife or the cambridge diet and do WW when you have shifted some so you can have your op?

cx

oinker · 06/09/2006 07:50

I lost 2 1/2 this week. I have to loose up to two stone. But I really would feel some much happier loosing the 2 stone b 4 op as this is what they said would be the goal. I don't want them sending me away. I have loads to loose. I need to loose at least four. I have just ballooned over the past two years. Because of my conditions (pregnacies, fibroids etc) I have not been able to exercise. It's a long story..... Anyway, I will stick with it and a week b 4 my hospital appointment I will do the cabbage soup diet. That'll guarantee an extra 7lbs at least!!!

CarlyP · 06/09/2006 12:09

good luck oinker. I lsot 4stone doing a vlcd. still losing now as want to loose some more, but going to join WW once the major WL is out of the way!

well done on your loss this week.

oinker · 06/09/2006 14:12

What VLCD are you doing?

OP posts:
CarlyP · 06/09/2006 15:58

I started with Lighterlife and then done a mixture of LL and Herbalife. Lost 4 stone, had 6wks off (due to op) and now doing a mix of H and LL for the enxt 2 stone. Then Ill join WW.

oinker · 06/09/2006 19:29

A pound in a week is fine. Losing too much usually means it is a bad unsustainable diet rather than a good healthy eating programme you could carry on for a long time. I did WW years ago, was a life time member and have never got as big again.

Lilliput · 06/09/2006 22:58

My mum and I joined together at the beginning of February, I got to my goal weight in 12 weeks and lost 21lbs and have since lost another 5lbs. My mum has lost over 3 stone and has another 7lbs to go to get to goal. Both of us have yoyo dieted and the slow loss of 1 or 2 lbs a week will mean that the weight will stay off or at the very least not pile back on really quickly. Stick with it, it really changes the way you look at food, what you eat and why you eat. Good luck!

jasper · 06/09/2006 23:38

It is a great food plan.

This is a subject close to my heart.

As far as I can see , if your "brain switch" is in the right place ( ie you are motivated and determined to lose weight) stick with it and IT WILL YIELD RESULTS

jasper · 06/09/2006 23:39

you did not get fat overnight; similarly you will not lose the weigth quickly. It will take weeks and months.
Those months will pass anyway.... do you want to be fat or thin at the end of them?

Hello Oinker my sweet How are you? Long time no speak...

I was once a WW leader, believe it or not, but I found that on the whole theplan worked for everyone, as long as they really and truely stuck to it. When I had people come to the scales that weren't doing as expected, theyoften argued that they were following it religiously, however, with a bit of probing in a subtle way, I always got the truth

I am not insinuating you aren't following it, quite the opposite. you seem to be doing really well. I was told to advise my members that they should be aiming to lose about 2lb a week as any more was not healthy as it was fluid loss or worse still muscle loss due to under eating.

Keep at it, WW is designed to be steady consistant weightloss which is then easier to keep off, and it is a new lifestyle. It is not a quick fix crash diet.

Keep going hun, it will work. I wish you all the best with it

Lots of love
CH
