Weight loss chat

A space to talk openly about weight loss journeys and challenges. Mumsnet hasn't checked the qualifications of anyone posting here. You may wish to speak to a medical professional before starting any diet.

I went to the Doctors to discuss weight loss etc - she said she didn't have time!

Felt really shit about it afterwards, she just said yes, you do need to lose weight, here's a leaflet, I don't have time to discuss it!

I stamped my foot a bit and she agreed to refer me to the dietician to devise a good diet/exercise plan and said if it doesn't work, she'll give me some pills - not quite what I was looking for.

Bitch.

MamaG, If you think that your eating is due to depression, say that to the GP.
I suffered with PND after I had my first baby. I was unable to admit it and denied it every time the gp broached the subject with me!

I have been fine since my DD was about 3yrs old (7 yrs ago now) and have had 2 more babies.

If you think you are suffering fromm depression, please see the other gp and tell him.

Take care

Hope you get a more constructive response from another GP, MamaG. They of all people should be clued up about the health problems associated with being overweight.
