A little bit late but better late than never

yep insane covers it! They've pulled several similar tricks before - notably when I was about 8 months pregant last time.

THanks for the kind words. Very proud I haven't taken refuge in calories for once . Wonder if it'll last...

Littlefish · 30/06/2006 13:36

Oh Arfy - I'm just keeping everything crossed for you (which is quite hard when you're wearing mittens!).

Have you got a nice trashy magazine? Sit down, put your feet up think as many positive thoughts as you can.

I'll be thinking of you on Monday - hope you get your scan.

How many weeks are you?

MrsJohnCusack · 30/06/2006 13:39

I'm only 6 weeks pregant.
have Closer as it happens (marvellous) and putting my feet up now(DH here luckily to supervise DD). HAve rehearsal tonight and very big concert/rehearsal tomorrow plus lunch with inlaws, all in London in the heat (and will be driving in and out), so will be concentrating very hard on keeping my temper, relaxation NOT an option unfortunately.

Littlefish · 30/06/2006 13:40

Coppertop - mission accomplished! Am back with a lovingly prepared salad. I had no idea how hard it was to chop cucumber and wash lettuce wearing mittens! I really wouldn't recommend it.

My salad consists of:

Lettuce
Cucumber
Chicken breast
Sultanas
V small amount of hummous to make life worth living.

Shopping is safely put away, with only a minor incident - 2 x mini blinis. It could have been so much worse, so I don't feel too bad.

Littlefish · 30/06/2006 13:41

Do you sing or play? What is the concert?

coppertop · 30/06/2006 13:41

Well done, Littlefish!

MrsJohnCusack · 30/06/2006 13:43

Littlefish, I am seriously impressed
this is the concert and I play the clarinet. I am so looking forward to it, I refuse to let it be ruined by pesky inlaws and pregnancy worries

there, positive thinking

suejonez · 30/06/2006 13:43

I'm still trying to persuade someone to come with me MrsJC - if I can I'll be there.

MrsJohnCusack · 30/06/2006 13:44

sue you are a star

WigWamBam · 30/06/2006 13:46

Wow, what a fabulous concert!

I'm very jealous, Arfy; I miss being able to play my clarinet, it sits in the cupboard calling me sometimes and I have a little blow every now and then, but I can't play for long because of my hands.

Enjoy it, and try to relax ... easier said than done with pillocks of in-laws, I know.

Littlefish · 30/06/2006 13:50

That sounds like a fabulous programme - I only wish that I lived nearer to London. The good news is that once you are in the reharsals and concert, you know that you will completely lose yourself in the wonderful music.

Choose your favourite music to play in the car on the way there and back and sing very very loudly.

All in-laws are sent to try us at times, but I must say that yours really do sound particularly knobby! Just ignore them, they're behaving like children.

MrsJohnCusack · 30/06/2006 16:03

inlaws not coming now - alledgedly because MIL v.tired in the heat and having palpitations. She always retreats into illness at times like this. At least I won't have to keep my temper all weekend but I feel sad for DH. and hope to god they haven't lost much money on the hotel cos that will be blamed on us as well!
All this from announcing our good news. Won't flipping bother next time

WigWamBam · 30/06/2006 16:44

Sounds like it's the best thing all round. Seems to me that they just want the attention on them, not you ... the kind of behaviour you'd expect in a three-year-old. In a toddler it's a lot easier to ignore though!

Hopefully it will give you more chance to relax over the weekend now.

Enjoy your concert xx

MrsJC - I think I might come to the concert whether anyone else comes or not as it looks a nice programme and is quite easy for me to get to. If I do come, would you like me to come and say hello afterwards or will you have your hands full with fans and family mobbing you for autographs?

MrsJohnCusack · 01/07/2006 00:07

sue - that would be lovely if you came
do come and say hello! I will be playing first clarinet and I have long red hair
there are tickets left in the unreserved seating in the gallery, still a very good view as it's not a huge church
hope to meet you tomorrow!

suejonez · 02/07/2006 10:19

Really sorry Mrs JC, I got enmeshed in the fooball and tennis and didn't leave enough time to get to the concert. Serves me right as I was really bored once they'd both finished.

Do you do many concerts? I'd love to come to a different one.

MrsJohnCusack · 02/07/2006 10:22

ah don't worry Sue. It was flipping boiling too AND Gay Pride was on as well (so loads of people everywhere). Wish I'd seen the tennis
I usually do a lot of concerts but that was about it now for good ones before I move to NZ!
It was great. Jura came which was lovely of her. Now I'm sad it's all over now and still sitting here wondering if I'm about to miscarry or not. The only upshot of all this is that I've lost my appetite a bit - unheard of for me

suejonez · 02/07/2006 12:07

I'll keep my fingers crossed for you. I'm sure you don't need me to tell you that a bit of bleeding isnt necessarily a bad thing - and I'll bet that doesn't make you feel one bit better, does it?

When are you off to NZ?

Littlefish · 02/07/2006 13:06

Hi MrsJC - glad the concert went well. Whereabouts are you going to in NZ? Is it a permanent move?

JackieNo · 03/07/2006 11:16

Glad your concert went well, MrsJC. How was everyone's weekend? Apart from bl**dy hot. I really hate this heat - I'm too fat to wear shorts out (fine at home, but wouldn't inflict it on anyone else), and it's just sweaty and uncomfortable. Not really looking forward to the Nursery summer trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park tomorrow - it's going to 32 degrees, apparently . Will have to lurk in the shade and take loads of water.

suejonez · 03/07/2006 11:47

I find loose flow-y trousers much cooler than shorts anyway and more elegant - not that I can be described as elegant in this heat.

I've had to cut right back on exercise as I've got an inflamed achilles tendon . It's swollen and I have to wear a support which is thick neoprene - nice and cool then! I would recommend voltarol gel for sprains and inflamations though - fab stuff.

Not had a great weekend for food - not terrible but doubt if I've lost the weight I put on last week. I've felt very bored and listless so haven't stopped eating. It has been reasonable stuff, boiled egg on piece of dark rye bread, solero-type lollies, breakfast cereal with skimmed milk but just way too much of it.

Difficult to summon up the energy for much in this heat.

JackieNo · 03/07/2006 15:27

Yes - I haven't really managed to find loose trousers, as I'm short it's quite difficult. But do have a couple of linen skirts that work OK. Gather you've had some good news on the adoption, suejonez. Congrats . Guess you may be offline for a while in September .

suejonez · 03/07/2006 15:53

Keeping my fingers crossed - my dossier still has to go through two more government departments in Kazakhstan, then they have to identify an orphanage for me...

I'm still hoping for September. I started april 2004 so that would make me "pregnant" for longer than an elephant!

JackieNo · 03/07/2006 15:55

. Worth waiting for, though...

suejonez · 04/07/2006 18:03

I have weighed a day early as I'm not sure I'll be able to get to Boots tomorrow. Have lost most of the weight I put on last week though not all so a reasonable week for me. Remind me when I'm saying how its OK to have (another) treat that I really don't like telling you lot that I've put on weight! I can rationalise it all quite happily when I'm eating then remember how the temporary pleasure of eating too much does NOT make up for the disappointment of putting on weight.

My lesson for the week.

Thinking about what my "small" goal was at the beginning - it was to cur down on crappy, in-between food. Pasties, sausage rolls, choclate bought at te station, at the shop walking home etc. Pleased to say that I have pretty much cut that out - apart from the occasional and minor lapse. I do feel good about that
