Oh, you know what it's like...anyway, my online persona is still the slimmest, sveltest figure you could ever imagine...

hub2dee · 07/06/2006 12:53

It was my apostrophe insertion which messed with your head.

Grin
WigWamBam · 07/06/2006 12:54

Would love to do something like that in the daytime - must check to see whether our local pool does it.

OP posts:
Fauve · 07/06/2006 12:55

Yes, it's all done with apostrophes. I'm as slim as a capital I, I am.

WigWamBam · 07/06/2006 13:00

Even your name is slim ... your secret is safe with us Wink

Have just found out through our local leisure centre that the local GPs do an "Exercise on Prescription" scheme ... hmmmmm ... wonder if it's worth seeing the GP, or if I should just hide behind mummyhill and go to the local gym?

OP posts:
hub2dee · 07/06/2006 13:06

That must be the Northern equivalent of 'Fit for Life'. It is based on a GP referral. I would deffo recommend it toadie. (1) Instructors won't be regular geezers down the gym who invariably give crappy machine demos etc. but properly trained / experienced folj (2) There will be classes geared to lardarses / at-risk cardio people, so they aren't stupidly inappropriate (3) Classes will be timetabled so you can see what fits in with dd and you then have a 'thing' to go to IYSWIM rather than 'oh it's Tuesday, I should haul my lardy arse down the gym'... which, as we all know, means 'f*ck it, have some choc'. (4) I think it is subsidised somewhat.

Pick up the phone nad make an appointment.... Grin (One thing to consider: It takes a while to see the GP, a while to process the referrl, a while to see the class co-ordinator, a while to get places on the class etc. Soooo.... you could either see it as a holiday till then (IYSWIM), or do some other stuff in the interim...

suejonez · 07/06/2006 13:45

Just weighed and can't believe I lost after the week I had Smile I can't help thinking I'm storing up trouble for myself next week but as my alterego Scarlett said "tomorrow is another day"

Hub, I'm in London I wonder if I could ask my GP about these here exercise class thingies but I wonder if they would do any over the weekend - I need something structured then I think.

I go to aqua twice a week now and I love it, Fauve it will get a grip on you, I have also after about 5 years made sort of firends with a few of the class and the instructors and we go out for the occasion drink together which is nice.

TheHonArfy · 07/06/2006 13:46

I have stayed the same, which is fine really.
Will not be able to weigh in next week as at the inlaws - and then on a hen weekend so it's not looking good for dieting for the next 2 weeks anywaY!

WigWamBam · 07/06/2006 13:48

Pick up the phone, make an appointment ... This is my crappy GP's surgery, remember! I have to get some more thyroxine in the next week or two though so will ask when I go. There isn't a list of surgeries that it's available through, but as it says that there's only one surgery across Birmingham that doesn't do it, there's a good chance. Although it would be about par for the course for the one surgery not doing it to be mine ...!

Your comment about having a "thing" to go to makes sense; I know exactly how I would be otherwise (and "f*ck it, have some choc" sums it up very, very accurately Grin).

Nice one, SuejonezGrin.

JackieNo · 07/06/2006 15:29

Well I've just weighed (and emailed, WWB), and haven't lost anything, just stayed the sameSad. Did have a 'bad' weekend, though, so I know I can do better next week.

suejonez · 07/06/2006 15:58

But you had a good weekend didn't you? (as in nice) and you didn't put on any weight. I'll bet a month or two ago a weekend like that would have resulted in and extra 2 or 3 pounds which never got lost again.

JackieNo · 07/06/2006 16:02

Yes, true, so it's not as bad as I thought, I guess. Must, must, must try to do some exercise. Feel like it's so hot I should have sweated some weight off (sorryBlush - tmi)Grin.

suejonez · 07/06/2006 16:07

Aqua is EXTRA appealing in the heat Grin

JackieNo · 07/06/2006 16:13

Yes, I can believe thatSmile. Shall I just fill the paddling pool....?

Fauve · 07/06/2006 16:16

Actually, a gym is a good place to be when it's hot as well, because of the air conditioning usually being pretty good (well it is in mine anyway).

[Oh the joyous freedom of being able to post as me, tra la]

Hello FioFio Smile

I really should do some more aqua...or maybe I should venture back onto that scary ice rink. With an instructor.

suejonez · 07/06/2006 16:17

if you're going to do pushups in the paddling pools it will be fine but not sure you'll get much of an aerobic work-out any other way...

schneebly · 07/06/2006 16:17

sue - I managed to do better than I thought too - amazingly! It will probably catch up with me next week!

JackieNo · 07/06/2006 16:18

Think pushups possibly dangerous due to risk of drowning when my arms give up (after about 1 pushupGrin).

suejonez · 07/06/2006 16:19

You will probably weigh less now fauve without all that weight of secrecy on your shoulders

Fauve · 07/06/2006 16:21

Oh, good point. I never was any good at deception. Except self-deception, which I'm brilliant at. I'm just glad I didn't try posting anything [ahem] really sensitive.

alittlebitshy · 07/06/2006 18:45

copied from my post on an earlier thred... but can i join you???
-------------
I'm trying to lose 2.5 stone... mainly post baby. my baby is 3 lol.

I really wanted to avoid a diet diet so decided to try it myself and see how I go.

My main thing is cutting out nibbles, which is mainly an evening issue but also when dd and i go out for a cup of tea.....

at brekkie I'm trying to eat cereal and fruit and occasionally a slice of toast and spread too.

lunch is salad or a sandwich (depends if have had toast iyswim, i'm trying to stick to no more than 2 slices of bread in a day). fruit.

evening meal is whatever i cook which has always been healthy, that's not the problem.

and evening nibbles, if they happen, which they tend to is fruit or veggies and dips. salsa is v low fat and some like soured cream and chive or whatever are too.... houmous (reduced fat/healthy eating) for a treat.

and that's it.

My other problem is that I was mildy anorexic in my late teens, early 20s, and was just on track when i got pg 4 years ago, I I am having to make sure I don't go mad, and am letting myself have a slice of cake every now and again, or out for a meal (got a hen party sat.... a bit wporried but one evening does not kill, i am now realsing).

i have lost over half a stone in about 4 weeks, which isn;t bad..... or is it? argh.....
