Nice new thread for a new week of fabulous weightloss, lots of chat and great support.

gwan then...

WigWamBam · 03/06/2006 19:31

They heat-seal the pack as it runs along a conveyor ... so if the chocolate were to be facing outwards at either end, it would melt. So there's one very clever part of the packing machine whose only function is to flip every 14th (or however many there are in the packet)Jaffa Cake over to avoid it being fried. You have a look next time you're within grabbing distance of a Jaffa Cake packet ... they all have one facing the opposite direction.

Full of useless information, me ...

gosh, a fact to rival my VAT one

aintmebabe · 03/06/2006 20:42

Mmmm, fried Jaffa cakes...Actually, only joking on that one...

coppertop · 03/06/2006 21:03

I can't believe that anyone is able to leave a Jaffa cake alone long enough for it to go stale. Shock

aintmebabe · 03/06/2006 21:27

GOOD POINT.

suejonez · 03/06/2006 22:12

I just don't get the deal with jaffa cakes, they taste like they've been made in a chemical factory. Now give me a nice digestive any day.

schneebly · 04/06/2006 17:51

Oooh - not looking forward to weigh in so much this week - someone else will be getting the crown methinks! DH and I had a delicious chinese the other night, had a day away yesterday when I was eating more rubbish and found some cheesy wotsits today Blush Dont think I have gained but pretty sure I wont have lost anything, oops!

coppertop · 04/06/2006 19:27

I don't think the crown will be mine either. I've eaten much less than usual but I've also had less exercise because of half-term.

I've just realised that I haven't congratulated Hub on losing 9lbs.

CONGRATULATIONS! :o

The question is, if Hub wins one week will he get the same crown or will it be a more manly version?

aintmebabe · 04/06/2006 19:54

Half-term has stuffed me completely - I'll be lucky to stay at the same weight, defo no loss. However, it ends today HOORAY so I can get back to the gym. And that slow jog towards the school gate.

JackieNo · 04/06/2006 21:08

Congrats, hub2dee, on the 9lbsGrin. I reckon if he wins he can have a crown - \link{http://northstargallery.com/images/Coney%20Gallery/Manwithcrown01%20web.jpg\men can wear them too, see}! Been away overnight and at a family party today - my MIL and her sister are very good cooks, so we had loads of lovely food. Tried to only have a bit, but there were 3 yummy puddings and I had to try 2 of themSad. Oh well, onwards and downwards (weight-wise), hopefully.

hub2dee · 04/06/2006 21:35

I think I'd prefer an orb, actually. Grin

If anyone is, erm, similarly generously proportioned, with essentially sedentary lifestyle, you might like to tickle your GP for a referral on the 'Fit for Life' scheme. I don't know if it's national (I'm in London) but it's for people who have had, or are at risk of, some kind of cardio-vascular 'event'... Anyway, it involved registering for the scheme (a phone call). followed by a meeting with some fitness person to discuss personal issues (lower back pain etc.) / dates / class choice etc. and then I bought 18 sessions, to be taken over 6 weeks. Gym on Monday and Friday, Pilates on Wednesday. It's all discounted, and our local council leisure centre is really very good. At each gym session there are properly trained instructors, with warm up / stretch down at the beginning / end. As it's scheduled (x time on y day), there is more incentive to get ass out of house IYSWIM.

Anyway, just thought I'd mention it.

The gym also isn't half as bad as I thought it would be. It is still vaguely hellish, but quite fun after a while. The machines have headphone sockets so you can do a brisk walk to some loud boppy music. As I have a WW wiegh in on Thursday, I'm a pretty busy guy, LOL.

TheHonArfy · 04/06/2006 21:35

I haven't a hope this week
I am having the weekend from hell and taking refuge in wine (and nibbles)

hub2dee · 04/06/2006 21:41

Oh, and I checked out my packet WWB. Grin

'Twas as you said. I thought the other reason for flipping the last one might be to present the sponge base to the exterior of the packet which I presume has different deformation characteristics to the sensitive orangey chocolate top IYSWIM...

JackieNo · 04/06/2006 21:47

Do you mean it would get squashed more easily the other way upSmile? Deformation characteristics indeed Grin.

suejonez · 04/06/2006 22:05

DON'T EAT JAFFA CAKES, THEY ARE SPAWN OF THE DEVIL WITH NO NUTRIENTS AND WILL EAT YOUR VRAIN FROM THE INSIDE.

Jeeze, was no-one reading my earlier posts?

suejonez · 04/06/2006 22:06

I ate one 20 years ago and have been unable to spell brian, brawn, grain, oh bugger... ever since.

JackieNo · 04/06/2006 22:07

Grin SJ. So what has your sister got in her fridge?

suejonez · 04/06/2006 22:09

Cheese

suejonez · 04/06/2006 22:09

Lovely Cheese

suejonez · 04/06/2006 22:09

Various kinds

suejonez · 04/06/2006 22:10

And lots of it (had to be eaten or thrown away)Shock

TheHonArfy · 04/06/2006 22:10

suejonez · 04/06/2006 22:10
