So here it is - come and weigh in for the last time and tell us how much you've lost in Bootcamp.

The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here

Welcome ginslinger

Next formal Boot Camp starts on 29 April, but you can get started early by following the rules that are in the "Spreadsheet of Fabulousness" linked to in the op.

There is also a thread of Boot Camp recipes and another one for questions. On iPod, so can't link easily.

If you do follow the rules, you will see results :). I lost over two stone Shock in the 10 weeks of the last Boot Camp :):) ok, I started the post-Christmas bulge

ginslinger · 13/04/2013 14:51

Thanks Prettybird - I shall start now!

prettybird · 13/04/2013 15:01

If you are not doing it in sync with the "formal" Boot Camps, it might be worth looking at some of the previous Boot Camp threads (the Week number will be in the thread title).

For example, in Weeks 3 and 4, BIWI often has to get her big stick out and remind you that people often stall or even go up a pound or two (especially after big losses in the first two weeks) and that you need to keep the faith and stay with the WoE.

MrsHerculePoirot · 13/04/2013 21:17

Tonight we made a delicious dinner - I think again someone posted a recipe or something similar but it was lovely. Basically made bolognaise then a sort of lasagne by layering bolognaise, white sauce (cream and cream cheese), emmenthal slices, aubergine, bolognaise, white sauce, emmenthal slices, courgette and then grated mozzerella.

The aubergine and courgette we cut into slices lengthways and then roasted before adding to the lasagne. It was really nice!

Sorry for my appalling spelling btw...

Cocoaone · 13/04/2013 21:31

Hi ginslinger - I started low carbing 3 days ago.

I'm an absolute carb fiend, and I don't particularly like proper meat, which makes this WOE slightly more difficult, but I love that your appetite is so far reduced on low carb!

In good news though (and TMI alert) I got my period today for the first time in ages, since having the coil. I remember from last time I LC'd (5 years ago?) that your periods can go squiffy as hormones are stored in our fat cells, so when you start using them for energy, it releases all the stored hormones. So I'm taking it as a good sign!

MrsHerculePoirot · 13/04/2013 21:34

Hello ginslinger and cocoaone and welcome!

Sorry to have missed you in my excitement to post about my dinner!!!

Ruprekt · 14/04/2013 00:53

My bloody father had a go at me tonight for low carbing. Really pissed me off.ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

timidviper · 14/04/2013 01:39

Hi all, the evil twin is back! I've just been really busy over the last couple of weeks so haven't got to the computer long enough to post!

Have been away over Easter meeting DSs girlfriend's family and then a citybreak in Germany with friends last weekend. Have been totally off-piste both weekends but good in the weeks and, oddly, have lost 2lbs so have gone over 2 and a half stone loss now. Still loads more to go yet.

Tartiflette question. It sounds lovely but I do not like cheese, I will only eat it mild or melted so how cheesey is reblochon? If it is very cheesey, what could I use instead? Brie?

timidviper · 14/04/2013 01:44

Mary I also remember turnip lanterns at Hallowe'en.

Ruprekt I haven't told anyone other than close friends about low-carbing or going to the gym as I cannot be arsed with questions about have I lost weight or criticism. I just waffle something airy-fairy about avoiding sugar being good for you and let them assume I am just being weird.

Cocoaone · 14/04/2013 06:59

Ruprekt - I live in fear that people at work etc will rumble me and ask if I'm LC - buy I'm one of those people who hates anyone knowing I'm on a diet. Too much pressure and I end up caving! I've only got those difficult 14lbs to shift too.

Yama · 14/04/2013 07:48

Morning everyone. Smile

I've not been enjoying my food recently. eating has been more of a chore than something to be enjoyed. However, last night I remedied the situation with a lovely rib eye steak and blue cheese sauce. Man, it was tasty.

spilttheteaagain · 14/04/2013 07:51

timidviper I used brie in the tartiflette and it was lovely, and I suspect very similar to reblochon would have been. (Says she having never so much as laid eyes on, much less tasted, reblochon...) But I have seen other less authentic tartiflette recipes that suggest brie. Works fine Smile

spilttheteaagain · 14/04/2013 07:51

Drum roll..... yesterday I ate NO CAKE and NO BREAD. Huzzah!

JakeBullet · 14/04/2013 07:54

Kick me up the bum folks, I have fallen off the wagon massively and carbed out!

Reasons this is BAD:

I am much more likely to binge eat.
I have vowel probs and bloating.
I feel more lethargic
I am regaining weight!

Need to stop NOW and turn this round again.
Got Briffa's book with me....going to Bootcamp starting again today.

...and going to read back old threads to reins myself about how fab I was feeling with LC.

Yama · 14/04/2013 09:05

Can you take a consonant instead Jake? Grin

JakeBullet · 14/04/2013 09:20

Grin.....just seen that lol.

BlackAffronted · 14/04/2013 09:29

Jake, Im struggling too :( and I feel horrible, ill, headachey yet I am still struggling to LC properly. Getting quite annoyed at myself!

JakeBullet · 14/04/2013 09:36

The thing is that I KNOW how much better I feel with LC. Going to nail it again this week. Seems as soon as Bootcamp weigh ins finished I fell off the wagon with increasing carb creep.

It is hard though isn't it Black? I know I can do this and I inspired myself with how I felt before.

BerylStreep · 14/04/2013 11:13

BIWI, I made your tartiflette last night, and it was heavenly!

It turns out that what Sainsbos call turnips over here, are actually swede. Confusion over. I'm not sure how low-carb friendly swedes are, but that's beside the point, it was lovely.

I have spent this morning doing a weightloss chart on excel. Over the years, I have tried lots of different things, and I have weight data at various points over the last 5 years.

I have made a chart, showing the rates of loss and sustainability of each type of diet I have tried. I'm not sure if I can post it onto my profile - I may try. Anyhow, it's interesting as I seem to lose a lot of weight very rapidly with low-carb / Harcombe, however I waver around day 40. I was on Reductil 5 years ago, and interestingly it was almost completely linear weight loss for a year. The irritating thing is that although I lose weight, I always end up putting it on again, and I think that is something that I need to address with myself.

spilttheteaagain · 14/04/2013 13:23

Swedes are very low carb friendly, beryl, they're on the allowed list, I think about 2.1g/100g IIRC? Same as celeriac anyway.

jake sorry to hear you are struggling too. Where did it go wrong for you? Was it easter like the rest of us? I hear you re the bowel issues. I have been giving myself horrendous constipation with all this off piste eating. Arse. And I find with sweet snacks I just have no off switch. 1 biscuit becomes 6. But that doesn't happen with a slice of cheese or a small handful of raw nuts. I am trying to get back to savoury snacks like cheese, nuts, yogurt and fingers crossed it will stop this out of control gorging....

prettybird · 14/04/2013 13:56

I finished off my Mother's Day chocolates last night Blush - couldn't stop at one and ended up having four or five or six Blush. To give myself credit though, I had waited until my birthday last week before opening them.

BlackAffronted · 14/04/2013 14:46

I think I am doing ok today. Greek yog for breakfast, fry-up for lunch and roast belly pork, loads of crackling, cauli cheese & caramilsed sprouts for dinner tonight.

BIWI · 14/04/2013 18:00

The only advice I can give those of you who are struggling is to read as much as you can about low carbing and its benefits - they go way beyond weight loss.

That was what really, truly cemented me to this WOE.

And - and this is the big thing - don't be so hard on yourselves for not LCing 100% of the time! It's called 'LIFE'.

Sometimes you can't help it, sometimes you deliberately choose it. So? Enjoy it, and then move on.

But you have to also acknowledge the addictive powers of the carbs, and make sure that you have the wherewithal to get straight back on the wagon. Which is where knowing about the long-term benefits will really help you.

And if, in the short term, carbs are making you feel shit - well, surely that's your body trying to tell you something?!

Thought I'd mention that I found a 500ml jar of coconut oil for £1.69 in Sainsbury's :)

It was in the "ethnic" aisle (with the ultra large packs of rice, large bags of spices and almonds etc) rather than with the oils, where a different jar of coconut oil (similar size) was something silly like £4.99 Hmm.

I'm going to check out my local "Indian" shops to see if it's as good value there. I buy all my spices and large bags of nuts there 'cos they're much cheaper than the supermarkets.
