The Spreadsheet of Fabulousness is here

thanks Ewan I guess you're right - once I'm used to it again, I hope I won't even WANT those carby "treats."
I'm slightly worried about the patterns I'm putting my body through. I seem to put on and off the same stone / stone and a half every 9 months or so. I'm sure that's really bad for you.
yama - I'm certain this WOE can affect your cycle so don't worry too much,
hello mrsHP - you're so right, and I for one can't wait to start losing even a little bit, because that's the best thing for spurring me on to lose more

MrsHerculePoirot · 08/04/2013 17:41

Nigellas we can do it together one day at a time...!

sybilfaulty · 08/04/2013 18:03

3 l of water today, sort of uber camp, lots of walking and plenty of good cheer with a handsome work pal. I feel better a d thinner already!

I had a few menstrual issues when I started this WOE but all settled now.

TreeLuLa · 08/04/2013 18:25

OK have finally snapped!

4 glasses of white whine, 1/2 slice of bread. 1 hot cross bun.

Crap but enjoyed the wine!

NigellasGuest · 08/04/2013 19:58

MrsHP yes one day at a time!

ChippingInIsEggceptional · 08/04/2013 20:03

Just for a change Hmm STS again this week. Getting a bit pissed off about it now :(

prettybird · 08/04/2013 20:05

The roasted cauliflower with cumin is lovely - thanks BIWI :)

Did anyone see the Guardian at the weekend - the "Cook" supplement had a load of cauliflower recipes that were low carb (or could be adapted to be) and looked reeeally tasty.

Actually, last week the supplement did chocolate and it had a recipe for "chocolate pots with orange and cardamon" that looked like it could be a low ish carb treat (when you're not on Boot Camp) as the recipe consisted of cardamon pods, 100ml milk, 200g of good quality plain chocolate, 1 orange, 2 eggs and 250ml double cream (to serve 6-8). :)

Am I going to get chucked out for delivering temptation?!

HumphreyCobbler · 08/04/2013 20:20

hello

the sickness reared its ugly head again the last two days, so have not managed much good eating. Will try again tomorrow. I need to drink more water, this thread has reminded me!

teaandthorazine · 08/04/2013 20:28

I thought the same prettybird, about the Guardian Cook supplement - loads of fab low-carb stuff. Cauliflower pizza, wheat-free breads and a flourless chocolate cake! Have saved this week's and last's.

BerylStreep · 08/04/2013 20:30

I have been off the wagon for a year, and started back 2 weeks ago. I feel fab, and am already 3kg lighter.

Thanks for the support.

BerylStreep · 08/04/2013 20:38

The Guardian's cauli recipes. Thanks prettybird.

prettybird · 08/04/2013 20:45

I wasn't going to mention that chocolate cake Grin - I thought I was already close to being banned! Wink. I've already thought of replacing the sugar with Fruisana (fructose sugar) and reducing it by half not that I was already planning a cheat WinkBlush

BIWI · 08/04/2013 20:49

It's a good job we're not Bootcamping, prettybird, or I'd have to wave my big stick around ... Grin

OP posts:
prettybird · 08/04/2013 21:20
Blush

But the cake does have almonds and hazelnuts and lots of eggs in it. Tries hard to justify herself

Ruprekt · 08/04/2013 21:28

Wooooooo!!!!,

Down to 174lbs today! SmileSmileSmileSmile

That is a weightloss of 20 lbs since 7 January. GrinGrin

Ruprekt · 08/04/2013 21:34

Dh and I were talking about the benefits of low carbing today and this is what we have come up with.

  1. Clearer skin
  2. We both sleep better and wake up with more energy
  3. No binge eating as we are too full from meals
  4. Weightloss even though we are eating amazing food
  5. No bloating at all
  6. For me, less mood swings
  7. Eat a lot more vegetables than we did

SmileSmileSmile

Dh and I will never return to carbs. Dh tests the water every now again with a slice of pizza but cannot manage a whole one.

prettybird · 08/04/2013 23:30

I tell a lie: it's not hazel nuts that the chocolate cake has - it's ground linseeds. I knew there was a reason why I thought it was good for this WOE Wink

not that I've been looking at the recipe Hmm innocently

Bessie123 · 08/04/2013 23:41

prettybird I'm sure I read somewhere that fructose is worse for you than sucrose

TreeLuLa · 09/04/2013 04:27

OK. New day, new start.

I am going back on Bootcamp proper again.

The thing I find the hardest is the no alcohol. I am fine when it is just me and DH, but whenever anyone else is here (and we often have people visiting) and they have a glass of wine, I crack! I think - just one - but one becomes 3 and before I know it I've blown it for the day.

Curses. I really have to lose this weight. I am lighter than I was on 1st January - don't dare weigh myself but reckon probably 10 lbs down. I have a black tie 'do' on 2nd August, another in October and I NEED to lose this weight.

So I am setting myself a few targets.

I want to have lost 8 lbs by the end of April; that will take me 'into' the next stone (if you know what I mean). I am going to start the Shred as well as go t-total for a few months at least.

By the End of May I want to have lost a further 7 lbs.

By the end of June I want to have lost a further 7 lbs. This will be a total loss from starting weight of 2 stone 8lbs. It will take me into the next stone 'down'. At this weight I will still have 2 1/2 stone to lose.

End of July is the end of the Summer term. I want to have lost a further 7 lbs by the end of July. I would then be a size 18 (probably) for the black tie do in August.

I will then have another 2 months until October - and it will be barbeque season. I will have to stay off the booze I think until I am at my target weight. I would like to 'go for' another stone off by October. That would take me to a stone away from my target weight. I want to reach my target weight by next CHristmas. 5 stone off.

Please will you help me??? I know lots of you on this thread have lost a lot of weight on this WOE - and it really suits me. I am not hungry - I feel better and energetic, I can eat food I love...

I find the drinking water bit hard - especially at work as my office is miles from the loo and I have a very busy job. ANy ideas or do I just have to prioritise myself for a bit? The food thing at work is fine though as I take a healthy lunch and that is all I eat.

Yama · 09/04/2013 07:52

TreeLulu - you need the water. I read early on that you need to up your salt intake. That seems to help with reducing the amount of times you need to go to the loo. I drink a pint in the morning before work, another 1.5 litres at work and a couple of pints in the evening.

I tend to Bootcamp full-time during the week and add wine, dark chocolate and nuts at the weekend. Stressful days and holidays get in the way of that plan but that's life.

Good luck. You are in safe hands here. Smile

BIWI · 09/04/2013 08:33

TreeLuLa - Beware of making such specific targets over such a specific time period. If I've learnt anything over the last year or so, it's that this kind of thinking can become destructive rather than conducive.

Focus on the immediate month ahead - baby steps! Weight loss isn't linear, and there will be weeks when you don't lose/lose very little or even gain. So your overall focus has to be on your overall loss.

Are you a daily or a weekly weigher? I find that (as a daily weigher) it really helps me if I plot my weight on a chart. Although it's always galling having to plot an increase, it does help you to see the overall trend - hopefully downwards!

I know what you mean about the drinking! Can you try and restrict it to the weekend only? Saying that you are going to be teetotal for months is again something I fear you are unlikely to succeed at, as it's such an absolutist thing to saym, IYSWIM.

Dr John Briffa's advice would be to switch your drink. He admitted that if he had a bottle of Sauvignon in front of him he would be inclined to drink it all, whereas if he sticks to his vodka, lime and soda, because he likes it less, he drinks less. Certainly I find that if I have a gin and tonic, I can restrict myself a lot better than if I know there's an open bottle of wine.

The next Bootcamp will be starting in around 3 weeks time - but in the interim, to get you back on track, there are three days' worth of 'Ubercamp' menus on the spreadsheet which you could try? These are dairy-free and under 20g carbs for the day.

OP posts:
TreeLuLa · 09/04/2013 09:16

Brill!!

Thanks so much for all the advice. I did give up alcohol from January to March and it really seemed to help - but yes, perhaps for celebratory events I can drink vodka and soda. But not yet!

OK. SO this month - I'm going to lose 8 lbs. I am a daily weigher - good idea to plot it - yes, I will do that.

Going to have a look at the Ubercamp menus now.

Thank you again Grin

BIWI · 09/04/2013 09:17

My pleasure!

NigellasGuest · 09/04/2013 10:59

well I am down 2.5 lbs after one day back on the wagon.

disclaimer:
it's probably all water
and
when I look in the mirror I still see a big fat blob.

BIWI · 09/04/2013 12:07

Nigella. Stop with the negative thinking!

2.5lbs is brilliant whatever it is. And you're back on the wagon, which is fantastic.
