Hi All

Wanted to see if anyone is doing one of these or thinking about it. (If there's already an active thread, I missed it).

I have done LL before, lost three stone in 10 weeks and maintained wonderfully until DC's. Eldest is now four and a half and I think I have probably tried everything going, you name it, I've tried it (Paul McKenna, Paleo, 5:2, Dukan, Weight Watchers, etc).

I know that this works for me, although I understand other peoples objections.
I get paid on Friday and will be contacting a CDC to start on Monday. By the time DS1 is five in June, I intend to be pre DC weight again! Grin

Anyone up for it? Or can give me some support or advice? TIA.

We're going to be starting tommorow! Has any one got any advice on what we should be doing today?

milkybarsrus · 10/04/2013 13:46

Hi airwalk, I would say as with all VLCD you have a bit of an energy slump in the first few days, try and sort things out today such as shopping, housework make a couple of meals for the family today, so that you don't have to be challenged by smells of cooking and not nibbling at food at the same time (thats maybe just me though)! Some people get headaches (I didn't), you need to drink loads of water, so get some bottled water in so you can actually see how much you have drunk/need to drink. If its possible try to be very low carb today, it's not essential but it will help you to have small portions, plus you will be more thirsty which will help up your water intake ready for tomorrow. Plan a non food reward for completing the first week. Mine was a Foundation. I have only lost 1.5 1bs this second week with absolutely no cheating, but it is TOM, so put it down to that, I do 'feel' slimmer/lighter than last week, I know its not a lot of weight to lose for eating 600 cals a day, but altogether its 9 1bs in 2 weeks which is good for me, so I am determined to keep going.

Hello all (tis I Mrs Sonky).

I'm on holiday this week and feeling very hard done by. Everyone's eating lovely lovely pastries and those delicious Portuguese custard tarts, quaffing wine and I'm on the vegetable soup treadmill. I just hope the goddess of fat loss is kind to me on Saturday and rewards my efforts at weigh-in. I deserve a bl00dy sainthood!

On the plus side I did some very nice holiday shopping before I left - huge motivation to keep going (it's certainly not the taste of the 'food'!)

My wind has subsided - which is just as well, as I'm staying with friends and wouldn't want to test the threads too much. Also, the villa has stone floors etc... so all very echo'y. Ehh-em.

Milkybar- I have weeks when I only loose half a pound/couple of pounds. I try not to worry about it. My LL counsellor says it's x pounds of fat rather than water/fat you're loosing. And my clothes and inch measurements are changing.

Keep it up everyone.

Iv got all my stuff to start tommorow! My tea was 125g cottage cheese and 130g tinned tuna chunks. It was actually wry good, maybe a little dry but nice.

bbpants · 11/04/2013 08:35

Am joining this thread in anticipation of my restart on Monday. I did SnS for 2.5 months between January and March and lost nearly three stone. I then took a planned couple of weeks off over Easter for a holiday, and ate and drank exactly what I wanted. Of course, I did put some pounds on, but what was interesting was that they went on immediately, and then stabilised.

This week is my 'transition' week to get back to normal eating (and the weight I put on is already beginning to come off), and then I restart SnS on Monday with a view of trying to lose another 2 stone by August (I have a LOT to lose!).

I am curiously looking forward to starting again. Bizarre!

bb pants what is Sns?

bbpants · 11/04/2013 09:30

Sorry Stairs - SnS - slim and save. Online supplier of shakes, etc., and you don't go to a counsellor or anything, just do it yourself.

TisI - I'll be glad of a buddy! Don't be scared - it really is ok! The bit I struggle most with is socialising (luckily, I don't do that too much these days!). I really have been happy with SnS - I am keen to keep things as normal as possible in front of my daughter who's only six, and having a proper meal when she is around keeps it very simple. She just knows that I'm 'saving my treats for holidays to get a little bit thinner and more healthy'.

bbpants · 11/04/2013 09:41

Sorry - should clarify - although there are no counsellors with Slim and Save, they are very helpful and provide a lot of support if you need it.

StairsInTheNight · 11/04/2013 10:59

Ohhh...that sounds perfect, bbpants, hate the counsellor aspect. Going to google that now, thanks!

StairsInTheNight · 11/04/2013 11:08

Thanks so much for posting about S&S, going to order now and start as soon as it arrives- hoping Monday. Have added myself to that spreadsheet, if it worked! Not sure if to do one meal a day or all replacements, what works best? Sometimes I find it hard to stop eating... maybe best to bypass food to start until I have got a bit of a grip?

Have two 40th birthday parties in early May, hoping I can shift a bit before then!

bbpants · 11/04/2013 11:30

I mix and match the 4 shakes/3 shakes and a meal depending on what's happening that day! As I said above, when my little one is around, I tend to include a meal so that I can sit and eat with her, therefore weekend days tend to be with a meal, but I'm more likely to do just shakes/bars/etc on a working day.

Having a meal is useful occasionally as I haven't told anybody in real life (apart from my husband) that I'm doing this diet. If anybody asks, I just say I'm low carbing and cutting out alcohol and snacks.

That's what I'm thinking- I don't want to talk about this in RL as it sort of sets me up for a fall...

I ordered a 28 piece taster pack and the white wine flavoured water (I accept it will taste nothing like wine but might be a nice treat!). Apparently it arrives tomorrow! Which is excellent as I have exactly 3 weeks to go until parties! Maybe can lost half a stone by then, or anything would be good!

StairsInTheNight · 11/04/2013 11:37

Yes, useful to know you can do a meal if you have to (and not feel like you have ruined diet etc).

TisI, your starting Monday right? I'll prob be weeping by then!

bbpants · 11/04/2013 11:52

When you get your stuff from S&S - there's a sheet with it that tells you what you can have for the meal - a set amount of protein and certain vegetables (to make sure it all stays low carb, I think). When I've been out, I've had to, ahem, be a little bit flexible with what I've ordered (for example, I'm sure one salmon fillet I had was way bigger than the weight you are officially allowed, and I have also ordered steak and a salad when beef wasn't one of the official proteins you were allowed - although I think it is now). But at least I've not gone overboard and it meant that normal life could continue to some extent (without the alcohol, though, unfortunately!!).

DaisyFlower123 · 11/04/2013 15:21

Hi All,
sorry new to this and hoping for some advice?
I am currently 33 weeks pregnant. I piled on weight with my first child, lost some, then fell pregnant again and just seem huge this time. I estimate after the baby is born I will need to lose between 3 and 4 stone. After the birth of our baby I'm interested in potentially signing up to the Cambridge weight loss plan or similar, however I am hoping you can answer the following questions;

  1. Can these type of plans be followed whilst breastfeeding? (It is my intention to breastfeed for at least a year)
  2. How long would you recommend some-one followed such a plan in order to lose for example 4 stone? (so I can work out potential costs)
  3. How soon after giving birth would you recommend a mother start a plan?
  4. and are any more suited to baby weight loss when BF than others?

also what does VLCD mean?

Obviously I am not looking to start just yet but wanted to do some research prior to the birth of my baby as I really am desperate to return to pre-first-pregnancy weight and shape.

Airwalk79 · 11/04/2013 16:44

I'm on day 1. When I did the medical form it said you cannot do it at all if breast feeding or within 3 months of birth.

Iv had one shake so far at 1030, was pleasantly suprised! Quite nice and easy to get down. Going to have another soon and then save one for later when we would usually crack the snacks out.

Don't really feel too hungry, just trying to guzzle the water!

Iv hung my holiday clothes on the wall lights at the top of the stairs, every time I run up for a wee I see them!

VLCD means Very Low Calorie Diet

My Cambridge Consultant came yesterday and I lost nearly 6lbs in one week. I am so motivated for next week! Smile

Not for long, Leclerc, we will all be thinner soon. Waiting for my box to arrive...

Aspiemum2 · 12/04/2013 12:22

Does anyone know if you can interchange products? i.e have an Atkins bar instead of a slim and save one?
