Hi all, yes I'm here and fine now. I think kids bring all sorst of things home from nursery and they spread! Really glad to hear you sounding optimistic horse: it's brilliant that you're near your target weight. I'm feeling positive too, the weight is still coming off and I think the whole way of eating is normal now. I eat slowly even if I don't think about it, but for me the biggest difference has been in just not automatically reaching for more when I've had a helping. I simply ate too much before and that's under control now. But where is everyone else? How are you all? We need to support each other (at least I need support!)

dinny · 14/05/2006 08:25

Hello, I'm here! Our blooming car knocked a glass of wine all over our laptop last week and totally wrote it off, so we now have replacement. gggggrrrr.
had my dd's birthday parties Wed and Sun so have fallen off wagon a bit. Really starting again properly this week though! Hope you feeling bewtter, Patkica.

Dinny, how did that work? I can't imagine. Horse, did you go on Saturday? I didn't in the end so I'm dying to hear what you made of it. Is it just me or do clothes lie? Having said I wasn't going to weigh myself, I keep finding that clothes size is not a great guide to weight loss either: I'm size 12, 14 and 16, depending on the brand. It's really annoying. I think I'm generally slacking off a little, but basically still doing ok. Still going to the gym. Is exercise supposed to mnake you hungry? It does me.

dinny · 16/05/2006 20:31

pmsl - that should have read CAT, not car, lol.

Hi everyone. I went to the training session on Saturday and it was very good and motivating but PM says himself you only need to follow the four rules. Eat what you want; when you are hungry eat; eat consciously and when you are full stop eating. We were chanting this all day mantra stil Smile. One of the main factors is the fact that we have stopped listening to our bodies. We sort of let our eyes take over and make our imagination greater than our will. Because of this we stuff ourselves silly ignoring communication from our stomach that tells us we are full. He goes through the exercises in the book and drums them in, the emotional eating exercise called tapping seemed to work the best for me and the people I was with. I think that the visualisation techniques are good, imagining yourself in a month, two months and so on. When you think you are hungry drink 2 glasses of water first as 75% of hunger feeling is really thirst.

What was so amazing were the success stories. The women who had done the training previously got up and told everyone about their dramatic weight loss. It was certainly inspirational.

I must admit that the day before the seminar if I could have cancelled I would have done. On Saturday I was only 5lbs off my target weight and thought that by following the book I have managed to be successful. I am now glad that I did go as it confirmed to me that this is definitely the easy way to lose weight and maintain that weight loss. Diets only work for about 9% of us. By the way PM says that this way of eating is successful for 71% of people who follow it. The 29% who fail do not follow the four rules correctly. I have lost weight in the past only to put it back on again. Luckily my weight gain hasn't been too out of control but most people put weight back on and some. Even the women who said they had done PM but for some reason had lost their way had only gained a few pounds. Time will tell.

patkica · 18/05/2006 12:06

That sounds great horse; thanks for letting us know about how it went. Did you feel that you learned anything new while you were there? I know you said you thought you had a bad relationship with food and I wonder if that was addressed? I'm going well I thunk, esopeically as I realised the size 16 trousers I tried on were actually a size 12 pair. I still feel that I am working on this, rather than it being completely easy. I do now eat very slowly automatically and my ideas about portion sizes have definately shifted, but I still sometimes have to restarin myself for going for more, even when I'm full.

How is everyone else doing?

Horse · 18/05/2006 21:09

Hi patkica. There were some points that weren't in book. I don't think that in the book he mentions much about alcohol but he says that you can drink it but don't drink while eating, wait until your meal is over. The main thing about going on the day is doing the exercises such as the chocolate one. Imagine it is covered in something you detest then imagine it with bits of hair on. He also did two sessions where he put us under or whatever one can call it. I must admit that since I have been back I have been very good and my appetite seems almost non existent. I hope that you carry on, it really does work. My girlfriend wants to lose a stone and a half, after only 5 days her old faithful jeans are baggy on her. In the last two years she has been on various diets and the most she has lost is half a stone. I know that she is going to reach her target weight doing this.

Also remember to listen to the tape every day, preferably when you are alert.

dinny · 18/05/2006 21:31

thanks for sharing it, Horse. is he attractive in the flesh - have always thought he uses his powe to make people fancy him, lol.

OP posts:
patkica · 19/05/2006 11:27

Is PM attractive? I'm not sure. Can I ask for an honest survey about who listens to the CD and how often? I have to admit that I haven't listened for about 2 weeks. I got so sick of it: I could hardly bear to sit through it. But I was definately at my best when I did listen so perhaps I'd beter start again. I had a bit of a blow out last night as my oldest friend came to stay and my DH looked after our kids. I was bad, but I didn't mind because it was out of the ordinary and I'm back on board today (and hungover) Sad

Horse · 19/05/2006 13:30

In my opinion PM isn't really attractive but there is something about him Grin. I think that something may be charisma, it's hard to define. Because he inspires people and one gets the feeling that he is powerful I suppose that makes him more pleasing iyswim.

Patkica, no I haven't listened to the CD for ages but the way to weight loss is to listen to it as much as possible. He did say listen to it everyday. Must say that on the day there was no hard sell for any of his books/cds/dvds.

dinny · 19/05/2006 20:56

that's it, Horse - he's not attractive but somehow he is...
dh keeps asking if I remember him with long hair (I don't, do you?)

Patkica - haven't listened to it for ages Blush

OP posts:
patkica · 22/05/2006 11:52

Hi everyone, I think I know that listening to the CD is a good idea, but I think I want someome to tell me that I don't have to as I find it so boring. It was fine at first, but tbh I now think about everything except what's on the CD. Oh well, I'd better try again. I've no doubt that I was doing much better when I listened to it, but I think I'm doing ok now, even if the weight loss is slower. I think it is probably not realistic to keep losing it like I did at first; though it would be nice, I think it was just the novelty. Now I am settling into the way I will eat for the rest of my life - I hope. I'm wearing a pair of trousers today that I haven not worn for over 3 years so I am happy. Thye are still a bit tight, mind you. {wink}

Horse · 23/05/2006 20:37

Hi dinny and patkica. It seems as if this thread is losing steam. It is good that we are still doing the PM. Dinny, I can't remember him with long hair, wasn't he a Capital radio DJ moons ago? Is that how he started? Patkica, I know that it is boring to listen every day to the cd, maybe you should just listen to it every 3 or 4 days or is that too much? I haven't listened to it since going on the seminar day and I am still sticking to the regime. It seems as if you are doing well without listening to it all of the time so just limit it to as much as you can. Remember even without reading the book or going to see him or listening to his cd you only need the 4 rules to lose the weight (that's what he said).

patkica · 24/05/2006 14:04

Thanks for that horse. I actually gave my copy to a friend who has lost a few pounds in a week so at least it's getting good use. I will get it back and try to listen every few days though. I think it does help. Thanks Dinny and Horse for keeping going with this. It's really helped me to have some PM buddies and I plan to keep it going for at long as it takes. It would be great for the others to come back at some stage or have some new faces here too.

pippi123 · 24/05/2006 16:03

Hello Dinny, Horse and Patkica - can I join in?
I have been listening to CD for about 10 days and trying to observe the 4 rules - have lost about 5lbs (couldn't obey the 2 week no scales rule!!) It would be so good to post with others who have been doing it for a while. I was amazed to find that I could just have one small square of chocolate and just leave the rest without it preying on my mind!! Hurrah.

patkica · 25/05/2006 12:43

Welcome pippi, it's brillaint to have a new face and some good news about PM. What made you do it? Have you found it easy or difficult? I was trying to work out yesterday how lond I'd been doing it and I think it's about 8 weeks though I might be wrong. I haven't weighed myself for ages, but I can see that it's working in how I look and feel and how much less I eat. I'm still not ready for a bikini, but I think I will get there. Smile

pippi123 · 25/05/2006 19:58

Hi Patkica,

I decided to try it because I am crap at diets. I could last a couple of weeks but then go back and eat more than ever and end up even fatter. I was hoping I wouldn't need will power - as I have none!! I think it will be a long job as I have a fair bit to lose. PM is right about having lost the ability to feel either hungry or full. I haven't tried the tapping or visualising horrible food thing yet because I've not really craved anything. Have you been doing that? My main problem at the moment is my earphones are a bit painful - must get some new ones or else I will be thinner with cauliflower ears!!

dinny · 25/05/2006 20:39

Hi everyone - haven't been around for a bit, and haven't listened to PM because I have started going to WW (I know, totally wrong according to PM but feel I need more focus atm). Lost 2lb last week and feel v motivated. Kind of trying to do it in a PM way - ie. eat when hungry, stop when full etc etc.

Can I still come on this thread? Grin

patkica · 30/05/2006 10:45

Hi everyone, just back from a few days of inlaw hell and it was hard not to drink - A LOT. But I'm still with it and have lost weight and am keeping it off. Pippi, I've never done the visualisation or tapping thing because I don't really crave anythting either - I just want to eat lots of whatever is around. I just use the eat when hungry and stop when full routine and that's done it. But I've also been going to the gym which makes me feel good as well as get toned. It's now over 2 months since I started and I know I'll never go back now. It does work, though I think I'm losing weight more slowly thatn I did at first. But that's ok as I am probably getting down to waht's right for me and I'll never be skinny. I have big shoulders from swimming lots as a child and will probably be best as a size 12, or 10 if I'm lucky. That might not seem like much to some people, but as I went up to an 18 it would be great. I've now given away all my 18s and 16s so that's great. Dinny, I reckon combining PM and WW is fine. Why not? I think I do something like that too: i.e. trying to eat the right things. If I really wate what I wanted, I would eat bread and cheese all day.

dinny · 01/06/2006 21:14

Sounds like you're doing really well, Patkica Smile Well done!

Well, doing Weightwatchers I have lost 6 lb in two weeks and haven't been hungry or anything. V pleased!

Great stuff Dinny. Well done. Wahatever works for you and doesn't make you unhappy or hungry must be a good thing. THis thread seems to be losing steam but I hope everyone is happy and doing well. My ds (2.5) is having the most awful tantrums, but other wise, all is well. Smile

Hi.....

I am new to this thread.

Just wanted to know if anyone has tried the Paul Mckenna Training programme. It's the one where you (in a large group) spend the day with him and he teaches you to programme your mind to slim your body. It costs....£300.00

Any comments...????

Thanks Smile

BigFatCat · 07/06/2006 13:38

I have a confession to make Blush, I've owned the PM system for about 3 months now and with the exception of looking at it when it first arrived from QVC, that was the last time that it saw the light of day. Things have got desperate as I looked in the mirror the other day and saw my very overweight grandmother staring back at me, it's time to pull my finger out and do something.

So here I am, does it work and is this the right place to help keep my fat arse motivated?

BBWBabeLisa · 07/06/2006 15:24

Me too! Got the DVD in the drawer under the telly and haven't even unwrapped it, its been there for months. Really should get it out and watch it. Can anyone convince me it's gonna help?
