Sorry to be a bit late this morning - no doubt you're all chomping at the bit to declare all on the Spreadsheet of Fabulousness

Thank you for that info BIWI, will have read later.

I'm a bit disappointed this morning as decided to weigh myself and haven't lost anything since Monday. I haven't cheated one bit, have been doing the 30 day thread also. The only thing I can think of is that I'm pre menstrual at the moment so maybe that is it?

BlackAffronted · 18/01/2013 07:49

No snow predicted for us, yet 10 miles away they are in a white out with schools closed! We are too close to the sea :(

NellVarnish · 18/01/2013 07:56

WAHHHHHHH Confused

I've just weighed myself post wee/teeth/clothes and I'm still the same as I was on Monday! I know I lost 9lbs last week but I've been soooo good. Whyyyyyyyy??

This is usually when I get disheartened on a diet and reach for the Nutella, but strangely I'm not hungry and I don't fancy it. Never thought I would say that!

Thanks BIWI, will read that after school run - and I'll keep on keeping on.

sybil - one square isn't bad - if I'd had your week I'd have had a family sized bar of Galaxy Grin

BigStickBIWI · 18/01/2013 07:56

QLB - being premenstrual will definitely affect your weight.

Stick with it, drink more water, and check you're eating enough fat. (You knew I was going to say that though Wink)

nell same here!! There's a pound off at most this week; I can't tell, the little sticks denoting pounds are very close together but WAAAAAHH! I'm being a really annoying goody two shoes as well Hmm

halfthesize · 18/01/2013 08:01

Doshusallie · 18/01/2013 08:13

Schools closed here. Dh has a hangover and is not at work. Kids already fighting. It's going to be a long day.

Still a pound up from target but I know it's the alcohol.

Really wanted to go to the gym today too.....

WillieWaggledagger · 18/01/2013 08:16

wishing you strength for today dosh!

i am in norfolk for a few days and the snow looks spectacular though it's a bit inconvenient

MrsHerculePoirot · 18/01/2013 08:24

Hi everyone. Bessie big hug, I had a mc almost exactly a year ago and still feel tearful about it sometimes. I think I am quite emotional in general though, I do cry quite easiy which is really embarrassing, however much at try to stop it. I hope you get some answers from our tests soon, it is tough and frustrating. We also have a DD (just 3) and I find I just want to know if we will ever have another or not, as if not then I can just get on with my life and not spend my whole time counting bloody days in my head.

No snow here yet, I can't wait though! DD started nursery school yesterday, I got to stay with her yesterday but today, all being well I shall be dropping her off. I am going to feel like I am truanting, not being at work and not being with her! I had an exciting food shop planned, and then a quiet coffee and cream st home with something other than cbeebies on - grown up! She looked so grown up and cute in her uniform.

Whoever mentioned vanilla powder, It is delish - thank you! And seriously despite it being the biggest fan of sprouts I a stil drooling over the ones from yesterday.

Weight wise I have stayed the same this week, and have stuck to bootcamp well. I am quite happy with that though as overall I have lost just over 7lbs still and there really is no safe a to sustain that rate of loss per week. AF also due again this weekend so water retention a plenty I imagine.

captainmummy · 18/01/2013 08:29

Bessie - hope you're doing ok. Take care.

BIWI - I do the IF thing too, I'm not normally hungry in the mornings now so go to work on 1pt water and 1cup black tea. Then (only work mornings) eat at about 1230. As someone who couldn't go 2 hours without feeling faint and shaky on a high-carb low-fat low-cal WOE (not a diet, went on for decades!) this is the most amazing bit for me. low-carbing.

Having said that, I had Lidl yog for breakfast today, only because it needed using up and because i absolutely love it.

Doshusallie · 18/01/2013 08:31

Sorry Bessie I meant to offer my condolences for your loss. Xxx

prettybird · 18/01/2013 08:38

I was absolutely knackered yesterday and ended up going to bed at 8.30! ShockBlush

I also felt too tired to make supper; I hope that the 6 slices of salami I had will have sufficed as a "meal". Didn't really have enough veg yesterday: yoghurt for breakfast, homemade chicken broth (so would have had a few chopped shallots in it) for lunch and then the salami for "supper".

I'll try and make sure I have a good salad for lunch today. Had 2 boiled eggs for breakfast.

Valdeeves · 18/01/2013 08:49

Morning!!!
Just had the worst night - up four times with the kids and I look a hundred years old. Plus my skin is not so great as I have restarted the mini pill this week. Think I need the paper bag from the pork scratchings for my head!

Just stood my 3 year old DS on a chest of drawers so he could look out the window so he could watch the snow. His face magical - like someone had lit it from inside with a candle. I've just dressed my baby DS in some
warm dungarees and now need to drag my weary self into the shower.
Am definitely going to try the fasting - I'm on my last stone I think to be the weight I'd like to be.
Wishing you all a lovely snow day!

Valdeeves · 18/01/2013 09:03

I read the piece BIWI - really interesting thank you

EwanHoozami · 18/01/2013 09:03

Valdeeves what a lovely description of your DS's reaction :)

PMT-fest here today. This WOE has done many great things for me but hasn't really helped with the monthly grump like it does for some.

B: Lidl yog and a couple of slices of bacon
L: roast veg salad with lots of dressing
D: Venison liver (don't ask...)

littlermissstan · 18/01/2013 09:17

BlackAffronted I'm right by the sea in Dorset and we've quite a bit of snow that is still falling, all the coastal dwellers are most surprised :) Office closed so am mumsnetting and looking at wedding websites working from home - one bonus of which is a breakfast of eggs scrambled with butter and cream rather than my usual desk-based yogurt. Going to stick a lamb curry in the slow cooker shortly too...

NoveltySlippers · 18/01/2013 09:58

Good morning all

Little we're also coastal-ish and very surprised by the snow!

MrsHP I'm sorry to hear you also had a difficult time last year. Thanks for you.

BIWI I think you've hit the nail on the head about why I don't think 5:2 is for me. Not only does it make you obsess about calories, those fast days make you feel deprived (yes, they are do-able, but they DO make you feel deprived). Which means that:

a) you are likely to massively overcompensate on your non fast days, and
b) it makes it so much harder to stay on the wagon, and the WOE so much less sustainable in the long term.

How do I know this? I've watched two of my friends in my office do the 5:2 and have heard all about the misery, every step of the way. Yes, it probably does help you lose a bit of weight, but the misery over making sure you don't exceed 500 calories twice a week is not sustainable.

More moderate fasting (skipping breakfast) seems fine to me. But anything more than that smacks too much of disordered eating to me. As BIWI said - we can enjoy this woe because we can eat yummy food. A WOE that says for almost a third of a week you have to be miserable is not for me.

prettybird · 18/01/2013 10:12

I could (and have done in the past) cope with fasting on one day a week. I used to try to make it a day I was going down to London for work, when I had to get up at silly o'clock and thereafter it was difficult to find places/time to eat. If I was at home, I just missed breakfast, had a boiled egg for lunch and a very light meal for supper. I didn't calorie count it though.

littlermissstan · 18/01/2013 10:28

Novelty I agree - I tried it last year and found it made me really binge on non-fasting days, which did my general eating issues no good at all.

Ilisten2theradio · 18/01/2013 10:39

Wow there were a lot of early risers today.
I have dropped DD off at the station this morning as she is going on a trip to Disneyland Paris for the weekend with the brownies. the snow started about 8.30 and the Eurostar train was due to leave about 15 mins ago. As we haven't heard anything I am assuming that it has gone and everything is OK.
The snow is starting to settle and I have to get into London now for an interview. I hope the trains and tubes are OK for a few hours more. - so what to wear? Some of my clothes are a bit looser so more choice - but I need to
wear a suit -and maybe take my walking boots to get home just in case?
Ah well, off to get ready.
Have had a big breakfast to set me up - eggs, bacon and sausage so hopefully I can last out for lunch 'til I get home again.

GuyMartinsSideburns · 18/01/2013 10:50

Morning Smile

Well Im going to be drinking more than my quota of coffee today, but I shall drink loads of water to compensate. We've had a lot of snow, the childrens school is shut and my husband couldnt get to work either, so Im at home looking online at boots I shouldnt be.....

Have a good day everyone, and go steady if you have snow/ice xx

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 18/01/2013 10:56

Bessie ((((hugs)))). I had a friend who miscarried a number of times due to chromosonal problems. It was very devastating for her and her husband .... she ended up having a specialist kind of IVF and now has twins. I hope that the tests provide some answers and a way forward for you.

I was doing so well this week but think I may have gone and blown it with a mug of hot chocolate. We were out playing in the snow and I came in and made us a mug each to warm - did it without thinking. So cross with myself Angry. I could have had a bowl of the lovely freshly made veg soup that was sat in the pan next to the bloody kettle!!!!

Oh well. More water for me today!

PennyHofstadter · 18/01/2013 11:11

Another day and another no loss Sad. I've stalled at the same weight now for days. Don't know what to do.

prettybird · 18/01/2013 11:12

Good luck with the interview Ilisten2theradio - and with getting to and from it! Smile

BigStickBIWI · 18/01/2013 11:28

Penny YOU WILL NOT LOSE WEIGHT EVERY DAY! YOU HAVEN'T STALLED. A DEFINITION OF A STALL IS NO LOSS FOR SEVERAL WEEKS.

What to do? You keep on keeping on. As long as you are following Bootcamp rules (you are, aren't you?) then the weight will come off.

Please don't expect this WOE to deliver half stone losses every week as that simply doesn't happen. We're aiming for a loss per week, on average, of around 1-2lbs for long-term, sustainable and healthy weight loss.
