All new mummies welcome. Any exercise and/or weight loss programme acceptable, so long as it is healthy.

Pass me. You could make your own crisps. Use a veg peeler to shave the veg you want to make into crisps, lay on baking tray with a bit of oil and seasoning on, not sure how long you'd need to bake them for!

Has anyone got an actifry?

Prolificmincepiebreeder · 02/01/2013 22:07

They sound good notgrownup
My trainers came today! They are too small annoyingly! Really wanted to start this weekend but looks like it will be next week now.
I'm low carbing at the moment, day one here. Needed a kick start.

TheDetective · 02/01/2013 22:08

Shaving veg Grin. That made me giggle!

Hot chocolate... for me, has to come with squirty cream. And lots of it.

Oh dear. Blush

Not doing well here at the moment! Must try harder. Hmm

Prolificmincepiebreeder · 02/01/2013 22:08

Oh forgot to say: didn't get out today but am forcing myself tomorrow! Going to push the buggy up some hills and avoid Starbucks like the plague!

INeedThatForkOff · 02/01/2013 22:15

Wannabe, be nice to yourself. It's so hard to be healthy if you're feeling crap. I've been like that for aged. Today a switch has flicked and I'm really motivated.

Anyway, I managed half a kettlebell workout before DS decided that enough was enough, but still burned 250 cals according to my HRM, Si better than nothing. Also walked to the docs and back for his first jabs (just under an hour) and got loads if housework done while DF and DSM were here to entertain the DCs. Plenty of activity in other words.

Had my 40 WW points and snacked on stuff like nuts, Muller Rice (yum!) and hummus with carrots and celery, so calorific for the BFing but also nutritious. Felt a bit deprived so dipped into my weekly points with a ma-HOO-sive teaspoon of Nutella (well the book said 'heaped', so I did Wink)

Now I'm in bed feeding DS so scoffing is done for the day.

INeedThatForkOff · 02/01/2013 22:17

Aw, he's doing a funny little giggle as he snoozes on me. They're so worth getting flabby for Smile

Passmethecrisps · 02/01/2013 22:21

Awesome idea notgrown. Yummy parsnip and carrot crisps. Will
Defo try that. I wonder if spraying them with 1 cal would work?

applecrumple · 02/01/2013 22:22

The veg crisps shoukd take an hour on gas mark 2 or 150c. I made beetroot crisps yesterday

JollyGolightly · 02/01/2013 22:26

Please can I join in? DS2 is 4 months old tomorrow and I am still far larger than is reasonable. Haven't had the courage to get on the scales but I'd estimate 2.5 to 3 stone over my normal weight, and I can only get into 2 of my skirts which is making life very dull. Absolutely refuse to buy clothes in a larger size, it would seem like giving up.

kirrinIsland · 02/01/2013 22:28

Rubbish day :(
I'm starting afresh tomorrow.

BarmeeMarmee · 02/01/2013 22:36

VQ I'm hoping the period is making a LOT of difference Grin, like about 2 stone! I honestly can't remember when I weighed myself last week. Isn't that ridiculous?! My aim was to weigh myself once a week.

pikz · 02/01/2013 22:59

Am trying swede and carrot mash and cassoulet tomorrow as very low cal from the recipe. Also got back into my muller no fat yogurts with 2 tablespoons of oat bean in... Yummy and good for me..

GTbaby · 03/01/2013 01:12

Hello all. Thanks horsey n VQ. I know breakfast is VERY important.
Today was a pain as I forgot about appointment n had to rush outa the house in half hour. Not as easy as it used to be pre LO.
By time I got LO home, bathed (poo accident) n fed it was 2pm.

Will try harder ... But for now must Sleep sleep.

Did anyone watch that diet myth program on c5? Shop bought bread causes bloating due to the yeast they use and diet drinks are worse for you than the fast versions, something to do with Aspartame, the body things sugar is being ingested but when it finds its not sugar it dies something to your insulin levels then later on your body craves sugar. Or something like that!!

CandyPop · 03/01/2013 09:56

gt did u manage breakfast today?

wannabedomesticgoddess · 03/01/2013 10:09

Notgrownup is it just the yeast in shop bought bread or all yeast?

Must have a watch of that.

INeedThatForkOff · 03/01/2013 10:15

I think there was quite a bit of bullshit in that programme as well as the factual bits. I started to watch but didn't last long.

Today is not.likely to be an active one. Both DCs are poorly and DD just wants snuggles on the sofa.

TheTiger · 03/01/2013 10:33

Ok, day 2 of baby weight loss plan here. I weighed myself on Weds, I want to get down to 9 stone 6 by March, and then down to 9 stone after that.

DS currently snoozing on me, and we are going out for a long walk when he wakes up. I got my davina DVD and weights out yesterday, just need DS to stop being velcro baby and I might get chance to do it!

Catbag · 03/01/2013 10:39

The thing about yeast is right, and it is all yeast, not just that found in bread. It isn't very good for you at all! I've tried to avoid it for a few years. At the time I didn't know why it happened, but within an hour of eating bread, my fingers would swell. Once I cut it out and ate wraps instead, I noticed that I felt less wobbly around my middle too. With no other adjustments to my diet. Try going without anything with yeast in for three or four days and I promise you, you will notice the difference. The only thing that I cannot resist is Subway sandwiches. I'll put up with a little swelling for a footlong veggie delite on italian herb and cheese bread! I believe the yeast causes water retention or somesuch thing.

wannabedomesticgoddess · 03/01/2013 10:44

Weighed myself this morning. Naughty I know. Lost 1lb already. I have done nothing though so Im not sure it counts.

Will try to avoid yeast and see what happens. It will be torture.

NappyHappy · 03/01/2013 11:01

It said it was the shop bought bread, something to do with the fermentation of it.

Oh yeah, there were some bits I didn't believe either, the bit about only needing to do 3 mins of exerciseHmm I didn't believe that about the Titanium Dioxide in the milk but if it was correct then Shock

I've changed my name from ngu.

I'll be exercising in the form of housework today, need to get rid of some of ds1's toys.

YellowWellies · 03/01/2013 11:01

Notgrownup I can believe a lot of that - especially the need to avoid diet / no sugar / low fat processed foods IMHO it's better to eat the original more natural versions in a smaller amount. A good tip is that a healthy diet shopping basket should cost LESS as you should be buying more cheap stuff like fresh veg and seasonal fruit and fewer expensive processed foods / ready meals.
