Reastie, I know it wasn't meant to be horrible - she's a genuinely lovely lady and is actually really supportive of my quest to lose the pounds. She's just never put it like that before haha! Grin

And, I might have found some nice dresses :)

steppemum · 14/01/2013 23:28

right weigh in

weighed myself this morning
last week when I started I was 18st 13lbs
this morning I was 17st 7lbs Hmm

while I have had a good week, it wasn't THAT good Grin

I have been around the 17st 7lb for quite while, but haven't weighed myself for at least a month, so last week I thought I had put on loads over christmas. And it did kick start me into getting rid of it. I do find that my weight can suddenly vary by 7-10 lbs due to time of the month, or if I go on a long journey (water retention mostly I think) and it can drop back suddenly - but not by 20 lbs!!

So I think my scales were dodgey and I was at a high weight due to time of the month.

so...restart...weigh in at 17st 7lbs (gosh just writing it it really shocking)

I do think I lost something last week, as I have been paintig today and my painting jeans were too tight last time I wore them just before Christmas and they were OK today.

so feeling a bit fed up as can't see any results, but happy starting point isn't so high.

sigh.......

reastie · 15/01/2013 06:52

steppe that reading must've made you Shock but sounds like you've worked out the reasoning behind it, and at least you're less than you thought and it didn't go up by 20lbs!! FWIW my start weight was pretty much exactly the same as yours.

Ohh LV any links to nice dresses?

hazleweatherfieldgirldetective · 15/01/2013 09:49

I got weighed this morning and... 16st13lb Grin that's 5lbs off in a week. It has spurred me on to keep going into the second week.

Reastie, the odd pizza isn't going to harm, I'm sure. We're all allowed treats now and again.

gussiegrips · 15/01/2013 10:58

Reastie, if it makes you feel better - yesterday was a fast day for me, and I ate a milky way and a handful of sookie sweeties.

I did that deliberately, smallest Grip was off school poorly, that brings us to the 18th week of having one poorly-mini-grip-or-another - and I bloody wanted something sweet with my cup of tea to cheer me up!

I rationalised, that was being KIND to myself. Have one. That first bite thingy has really struck a cord with me. One is ok. None is not always realistic - it might become so in time, but at the moment, I am a comfort eater. Baby steps, each step being an improvement on what I would have done a month ago?

And, steppe can I have your scales, please?

KatoPotato · 15/01/2013 11:18

LV My DS told me a was 'a circle, like the new clock Mummy!' they love us really! - DO share some dress links, I love shopping for others!

Well done to Hazel and Steppe I do also want a wee shot on your scales, I tend to skite mind around the bathroom floor, looking for my 'sweet spot'

I was back at the gym last night, and it was chokka with January good-intentioners. (get tae!)

Protein shake and CLA supplement brekkers, ryvita and laughing cow (ha bloody ha) for lunch and grilled pork wiht corn on cob for dinner. Back to the gym at 2000. I'm pleased that I'm struggling with the programme I was finding too easy before the house move and xmas break, must mean I was super fit before... yes?

high fives all round.

80 you don't need a telling off. You need to know why you are eating the chocs...

besides which, almonds are protein, right?

I find it easier once I've eaten every single treat in the house. That's why I've never succeeded, once I hoovered up all the crap I've put on another half a stone!

One mouthful, that's the mouthful you want, the one that you'll enjoy. The rest just make you feel slightly sick, and mostly sick of yourself.

Well, that's what I find. Perhaps you looooove chocolate almonds?

Hummus and ryvita minis (which are yum, by the way. 90kcal, chilli/salt and vinegar - a whole lot of taste and crunch for your 90kcal. I rather like them with low fat dip (like low fat creme fraiche with blue dragon chilli dipping sauce stirred in until it tastes right - really, really yum with krooditys) for me, and a handful of grapes. Lots of cups of tea. That's it until dinner time, when I'll have some home made pea and ham soup, and maybe an egg if I'm hungry. Then, it's the Tuesday mania of Brownies/football in one place/football in anohter place for my three plus the hinger oan who comes on a Tuesday. All three activities start in three different locations, all at the same time.

I ALWAYS want a glass of wine on a Tuesday night.

Can I use that as part of my fasting 500 kcal?

Will catch up properly later but wanted to post after first weigh in since mid dec. No changeGrin Grin Grin . I'm so chuffed. was really expecting to have gained.

InMySpareTime · 15/01/2013 16:08

Sorry, I've been a bit quiet on the MN front, DS is being referred to paediatrician for absence seizures, I left my phone and iPod in London at the weekend and just got them posted up, on the plus side, I've got lots done on my e-book the last few daysSmile and not had much time to think about food, much less eat a lot!
Roast lamb today , I'll check out how much damage the weekend's party bonanza has done, when I weigh tomorrow.

gussiegrips · 15/01/2013 16:10

80 not Spartans - I'm firmly with you refusing to do anything on weekends! School club, we only have a teeny gym hall so they hire Mary Erskines and Daniel Stewarts' instead. Which is great, and galling in equal measure - why doesn't our lowly wee primary have a hall that's of any use whatsoever?

Peter's yard crisp breads - why do all these artisan/foodie types own yards? Will look out for them, thanks.

North well done, that's really great. It's not easy to maintain during the Festivities!

Confession - I made ginger cookies this afternoon (not low cal, but a friend has bad nausea so I thought it might be a good anti-emetic minding). I DIDN'T lick the bowl. I DID eat a weeny bit that fell off a kind of crushed one. And, then I ate a whole one (they were still warm, what could I do?) and then, I ate another, sort of squished up one that was no use to anyone.

And THEN, I firmly packaged them up for my poorly chum, and put the remainder onto a plate and gave them to our builders. I did! I only ate two weeny wee ones.

So, not exactly in with the fasting day, but, usually I'd eat a good half dozen or so. And, I've still got dinner to come, so I'll just have even less.

I've got about 3 weeks until this big job pitch. Would be great to wear something I already own...

Tobermory · 15/01/2013 16:18

God, today has been soso hard. I've really wanted to snack today, it was hard to make 'thin' choices. My children's Christmas chocolate was really calling. I resisted. Hurray!

On the more negative side I couldn't finish the shred. It was bad timing, I'd been out all morning and not earn, instartednto shred about 1.30 but I was so hungry I couldn't be arsed focus.

MilkshakeMaker · 15/01/2013 17:43

But on a POSITIVE note Tobermory you did START the shred...which is great, thats showing just how much will power you have. It's more than me and I'd be really proud of myself if I were you

And Well Done Northender too wahoo!!!

LollipopViolet · 15/01/2013 18:46

Right, dresses I thought were nice are a no-go. I am too short for the petite length lol!

Seen some lovely ones in my local Monsoon today, going to go and do some trying on on Friday. Will try and find links.

Now, do I swim tomorrow or not??? Kind of enjoyed Sunday's 30 lengths, and know the pool will be quieter tomorrow, so quite tempted.

reastie · 15/01/2013 21:07

LV if you have time I'd aim to go, or at least take your stuff with you wherever you're going so you have the option and can't use that as an excuse . Too short for petite length?! Is there an uber short petite range anywhere Hmm . My problem with clothes is I have short legs which aren't that fat compared to my huge tummy, so everything is either too tight on the tummy but great on legs or fine in the tummy region but really baggy on the legs and too long

tober sounds mostly positive to me

Gussie well done you on the biscuits front. Love your yard comment on every fancy food has a yard in the name - tis true. Good old Neil and his Yard of aromatherapy products Wink

IMST hope you enjoyed the lamb

north that's good news

InMySpareTime · 15/01/2013 21:24

The lamb was delicious thanks Reastie.
Gap do 30 length jeans that come up short so I only have to turn them up twiceBlush
Dorothy Perkins trousers are fairly short legged (still not as short as my 24" inside leg)
Short-legged ness is a problem in retailing, I learned early how to sew turn-ups into trousers.

LollipopViolet · 15/01/2013 21:43

I'm 5ft 2 with a 27 inch inside leg haha - the dresses I looked at had the petite size at 52 inches from shoulder to hem.

I've got a job centre appointment tomorrow at 10.45, so will take my swimming kit and aim to be at the pool for the aqua aerobics session at 12.15. Then if I'm feeling brave I'll do some lengths afterwards :)

Tobermory · 15/01/2013 21:48

Violet - I do like Monsoon, pretty dresses. I missed why you're buying a new dress.... An occasion?

Im very much looking forward to choosing the next dress size down.

Milkshake, I did 13 minutes..... Not that I was counting!
Think I'm having a day off shred tomorrow, long walk planned on Thursday then by Friday maybe the shred love will have returned!

LollipopViolet · 15/01/2013 22:15

Tobermory - yes, 2 of my very close friends are getting married in March. I am very excited and think it calls for a new dress :)

And if that new dress happens to be a size 14, then that'll be grand :)

steppemum · 15/01/2013 23:18

love the idea of a bathroom sweet spot. I actually think my scales weighed wrong last week because builders were in so I couldn't weigh on hard floor, so it was a carpet reading.

Also really liking this idea of first bite/taste. I am one who eats a whole packet of biscuits, but it is really only the first one which tastes great!

Feeling encouraged with myself because I am not eating between meals, but meals are still abit big so that is my next goal - downsizing!!

LollipopViolet · 16/01/2013 16:14

I went swimming - another 30 length session woohoo! :)

Forgot to mention yesterday, I was on babysitting duty for my friend - well, she was having an eye test in the upstairs bit of her opticians, I was watching her 17mo DS downstairs. He was alright really - although at one point he got a bit unsettled and I couldn't figure out why.

Tried taking letting him walk round the opticians for a bit (with me close at hand so he didn't start throwing the glasses about haha! Grin), that didn't work, so I gave him a cuddle, no joy there. Then I tried putting him back in his pushchair, which is usually a battle, he went in without complaint and fell asleep a short time later. Hooray! I didn't lose him, make him cry or let him cause havoc! I'd call that a success (for info, I've never watched a child before, ever, so I'm quite pleased with that result!)

reastie · 16/01/2013 18:13

LV what a result! I have a near 2yo DD and can I secretly admit to you that I feel quite inexperienced with other peoples children when she has 'friends' over (I put that in inverted commas as she's too young to play properly/choose them iykwim) I get a bit worried when my friends go to the loo and I'm in charge of 2 children. I always panic they'll cry or something. And I know I really should know what to do!! Btw have you tried phase eight? Not sure if they do a petite range but I've got a couple of dresses from there and I love them.

Backache today. I have no idea why as can't think what I've done but it really hurts Sad

eighty well done on the run/walk in this cold - tis freeeeezzzziiinnnngggg out
