there is nothing more complicated to it than that.

Up to the age of 22 there are differences in growth rates
but after the age of22, if you can pinch an inch on your side ribs, you are eating or drinking to much.
Simple as.
Nowt to do with the different diets.
Just say no to at least half of what is on offer. For ever.

Bless you op
(throws pasty in the bin)
If only this was more widely known (sigh)

Sparklingbrook · 20/07/2012 23:02

Everybody knows that. But it's the doing it that's the hard part.

People who smoke should stop too. Wink It's as easy as that.

Tortington · 20/07/2012 23:03

fuck the fuck off - seriously just

c0rms1lkye · 20/07/2012 23:04

Yes and people who wear socks and crocs. Just stop it.

CheeryCherry · 20/07/2012 23:14

iliketea · 20/07/2012 23:21

OP - that is so clever of you. If only the diet industry had thought of that.HmmBiscuit

TalkinPeace2 · 20/07/2012 23:23

PS I posted this thread after losing 4 pounds this week

vomiting with food poisoning and then just NOT feeling hungry for days - it gave focus

OP posts:
vigglewiggle · 20/07/2012 23:25

Why is it then that every person I pass at the supermarket with their trolly full of processed shit, crisps, cakes etc, and not a fresh fruit or vegetable in sight is always rail-thin?

Answer me that OP.

TalkinPeace2 · 20/07/2012 23:33

viggle
simple - post me the pictures because I consider it deeply unlikely

ggirl · 20/07/2012 23:43

have you not heard of insulin?

SharonGless · 20/07/2012 23:44

Perhaps you should write a book to help the overweight masses?

vigglewiggle · 20/07/2012 23:44

As long as you will post my bail when I get arrested for taking pictures of total strangers and their shopping. Wink

creativepebble · 20/07/2012 23:50

Brave post but true imo... (Although anyone who has a physical illness is excused this generalisation right? Not sure I can specify but there must be exceptions?)

< runs and hides >

c0rms1lkye · 20/07/2012 23:53

I know of people who eat/drink loads and also unhealthily and are thin...surely it's not that rare?

creativepebble · 20/07/2012 23:58

Yes cOrms < peeps head up from behind sofa > and I also know overweight people who eat very healthily (or so it seems). Very odd.
Could it be that the people who eat and drink loads and who are unhealthy actually have very high adrenalin and energy levels and actually do lots of unseen losing of any excess weight?

BBMs · 21/07/2012 00:09

I suffer from insulin resistance and my body does the weirdest things!
I put on weight super super easy and it takes me absolute ages to lose any!
I eat quite a healthy diet, have a PT and exercise at least 3 times a week... That frase doesn't really aply to me :S

Nuttyprofessor · 21/07/2012 00:20

My DH and DD eat more than you would think humanly possible and are very slim.

teaandthorazine · 21/07/2012 07:49

Thin people eat less than who? And what do they eat less of? And what's your definition of moving more?

You say you came to this stunning conclusion as the result of being ill, of throwing up. Maybe the bulimia is the goal we should all aspire to? We could all lose a few pounds then, huh?

Honestly, you're talking bollocks.

storminabuttercup · 21/07/2012 07:51

Fuck me, I knew I'd been going wrong somewhere.

picnicbasketcase · 21/07/2012 07:53

Wait... So I should put down the cake and go for a jog? Thank Christ you arrived.

TheLightPassenger · 21/07/2012 08:06

um you do realise that you may well put some of those 4lbs back on as some of the weight loss is probably dehydration due to vomiting?

colleysmill · 21/07/2012 08:19

Well I guess its true up to a point but the people I know who have been successful in losing weight and maintaining that weight loss were the ones who addressed the reasons behind why they ate what they did and when they ate it.

I think its a much more complex issue.

HaveALittleFaith · 21/07/2012 14:37

It's not just about what you eat but how you eat. Obesity and obsessive diet/bingeing can wreak havoc with your metabolism. A lot of unhealthy people a poor relationship with food (I know I do). It's only since I've been following Paul Mckenna's weight loss book I realised this. One thing he says is 'obese people tend to think about food almost all the time, except when they're eating'. You can get stuck in a cycle where you eat fast, stuffing food in to get a high from eating, barely aware of what you're having. You watch that Secret eaters show when they film them / they have no idea how much they're consuming. So in a way, yes, you're right. But with some people it's so much more complicated than that!

katykuns · 21/07/2012 14:52

Totally agree with both colleysmill and havealittlefaith... everyone just thinks its about physical aspects of eating too much, and exercising too little. Like its super easy to get rid of it...

As someone who struggles with their weight, I realise after a lot of self reflection that my world revolves around food. I was always praised for eating adult portions at the age of 7/8, was always the bar my brother and sister had to reach (they are very fussy eaters)... I now reward myself with food, comfort myself with food... eat when I am bored... life really is all about food.

I also have battled with not knowing when I am full, and am a terrible binge eater... I will scoff things so fast that my body barely registers what's happening.
Its posters like OP that would usually send me into a self hating, binge eating mess.. but I am getting to grips with it now and realise some people can't help being ignorant idiots!

Rosa · 21/07/2012 14:53

Not always true..when there are factors that you are unaware of ..Like a diagnosed metabolism problem.
