A new thread for those of us who started in January 2012 and anyone starting now. Everyone welcome for support, encouragement and occasional arse kicking :)

Funnily enough I have lost 11lb since August and a fair amount of it has gone from my boobs :( I seem to be more pear-shaped now, whereas I'd always been an hourglass!

5k done today, bit drizzly but not too bad. Am madly busy for the rest of the week and away at the weekend so might not fit another run in til Monday.

EauRouge · 20/11/2012 15:11

I'm a 30GG so I could lose a bit of boob without too much upset. I don't think I'll lose much weight actually, but I'd like to tone up a bit as well as all the health benefits.

I did W2R1 today and it was brilliant. I hardly noticed the extra 30 seconds of running but those 2 minute walking intervals seemed to go on forever. I had to keep checking that I hadn't hit pause by mistake.

I managed not to scare the sheep with my hi-vis jacket but I did pass some startled looking birds.

LemonBreeland · 20/11/2012 21:06

Just did w2r2 tonight. It was really hard going. My legs felt so heavy. I am quite stressed though which may not have helped. Also it was very windy and I was trying to go a bit faster than I am capable of. I think because my legs felt so heavy, I felt that if I slowed down I wouldn't manage to lift my feet at all.

Eau I'm a 28GG and would happily lose a bit of boob so I could fit into my tops better. Grin

DowntonAbbess · 21/11/2012 14:21

Well I have W1 downloaded on my ipod and its been dry all day, so it looks as if I have no excuse not to try out w1r1 tonight. Eeeeeeeeeeeeek! Please reassure me I won't collapse! Nor make a fool of myself (though it will be dark so hopefully nobody will recognise me).

Oh, and please tell me I'll lose half a stone this week if I manage to get all of w1 done!

cinnamongreyhound · 21/11/2012 17:47

I have got wet three times today on each school run, not sure I can face a fourth to run :(

cinnamongreyhound · 23/11/2012 13:36

Didn't go Weds but I want last night, my goodness it was windy!!!! Reckon my speed halved when running into the wind!

OP posts:
EauRouge · 23/11/2012 14:52

I found the same yesterday morning, I was running uphill into the wind and I'm sure I was going about 1mph! Did W2R2 yesterday and it was great, my knees were really sore but I blame trying to keep up with DD1 at the soft play on Wednesday.

I'm away this weekend so can't get out running again until Monday. I'll really miss it!

jchocchip · 23/11/2012 19:00

Did parkrun Saturday, ran Sunday and then only a short run today I.don't seem to be able to get a run in on Tuesday and Thursday which would be better. Parkrun again tomorrow with dh was 20 secs away from pb last week, hope its not too windy so I can really go for it tomorrow...

cinnamongreyhound · 25/11/2012 18:07

Had a lovely run tonight, longest since I broke my foot and felt good, going to plot it online in a bit to double check distance :)

OP posts:
LemonBreeland · 25/11/2012 20:28

Cinnamon the wind was awful for me one night last week. It felt like I wasn't getting anywhere. Good that you had a good run tonight.

I did w3r1 this morning. The increase in time of running was quite hard. It's always the first bit of running that I struggle with, then I get into it. Did 3.45km altogether according to runkeeper.

I'm just impressed with myself that I haven't given up yet. Grin

shithappensx1000 · 26/11/2012 11:03

Well done Lemon. It's a great sense of achievement isn't it?

I haven't been able to run since Thursday - I've been struck by a nasty cold, possibly chest infection. I was gutted because I wanted to do my first parkrun on Saturday. Can't see me getting out there until Wednesday at the earliest. Sad

cinnamongreyhound · 26/11/2012 21:20

Thinking running last night and running club tonight was a bad idea, legs aching already!!!

OP posts:
DowntonAbbess · 27/11/2012 09:46

Well, I finally did it, having run out of excuses not to shift my bum! I had new trainers, a new MP3 player and it wasn't raining toooooo heavily. Tbh I was really keen to get out as soon as I got in from work, which I took as a good sign.

Of course, during the first jog I decided it was far too easy and should I skip straight to week 2....? That feeling didn't last too long! I lost count of how far I was through it and turned around at what I thought was before the mid-way point, to be told I only had 2 runs left, which meant I had a much further cool-down walk at the end, but I didn't mind.

What did bother me was the sore stomach when I got home. My legs were fine but my stomach ached. Any ideas?

Roll on tomorrow and W1R2!!!!!

dotty2 · 27/11/2012 11:36

Haven't been on here for a while, and haven't been running either what with the rubbish weather, poorly children, poorly me etc. But went out yesterday. So just a quick hello and a big congratulations to megbusset and shithappens on your graduation - well done. Thanks and Thanks

And welcome new starters too. You'll be really pleased you did it. I am so pleased with myself that I can run now, it was my new year's resolution and look - it's nearly December and I'm still doing it. Not lost much weight, I have to say, but that's another story...

cinnamongreyhound · 27/11/2012 13:40

Yay! Well done DowntonAbbess that sounds great to me!

Hi dotty2 sorry you've been poorly, glad to hear you're still at it though :)

Ow my legs hurt today!! Thought I might feel it and my foot isn't too happy either, was going to run again tomorrow but might give it a miss until thursday.

MegBusset · 27/11/2012 19:19

I hadn't been out for a week (too busy) but went out today in the cold and pissing rain; pleased that I managed to get out, though my thighs are complaining a bit!

EauRouge · 27/11/2012 19:40

Well done Downton. I know what you mean about the feeling you could skip a week- I've been tempted to skip a couple but I'm sticking with the programme just in case.

I finished week 2 yesterday but I've been struck down with the lurgy so I don't think I'll get out again until Friday. I'm dreading week 3; 3 whole minutes of running!! Not sure I'll be able to do it.

LemonBreeland · 27/11/2012 21:16

EauRouge you probably don't want to hear me saying how w3r2 was bloody hard work tonight then.

Weeks 1 and 2 just ease you in then bam, 3 mins of running. It is not as enjoyable now because it is tough but I am determined I will not give up because it is hard.

rusmum · 27/11/2012 22:30

I wimped out ages ago. Completed c25k in april, then off/on runner. Not moved for a month. Lost 38 lb so far, not gained any but feel flabbier and less fit.

Restarting - at the beginning?

dotty2 · 28/11/2012 16:52

cinnamon - sorry to hear you're sore. Seems so unfair, that you've done so fabulously with your weightloss and then get saddled with an injury. Hope you feel more yourself soon. I've only had a cold/virus thing - nothing dramatic.

rusmum - I remember you! You graduated after me. Welcome back to the fold. 38lb is fantastic. I am almost the same as I was in January (sigh), due to my complete inability to stick to a diet for more than a month at a time. But I am fitter and firmer. After only a month, I wouldn't have thought you'd be back to square 1. Why don't you try week 4 (say) and see how you feel, then aim to progress a bit more quickly - maybe doing just one or two of each week instead of 3? I haven't ever had as long as a month off, but have had 2-3 weeks off every now and again because of poorliness or travelling, and I've always been pleasantly surprised how quickly I've got back up to speed.

KTP · 29/11/2012 02:53

Hello all, I am a serial lurker! Can I join you? Ive just started C25K for the third time, although this is my first time with Laura, previously it has been with Rob (or Rarb as I like to call him). I've major issues with both my Achilles and have given up both times before. This time Ive decided to use a treadmill to get me started (and I've got 9 Credits left at the gym) so that is the first three weeks taken care of.

I live in Oz and have just started a 12 week online programme run by the Australian equivalent of Jillian Michaels. So far so good, my head is in a better place and I'm determined to crack the fitness/weight thing.

I'm extremely inspired by everyone's enthusiasm , and especially Cinnamongreyhound. Thanks everyone! Ooo and I love Runkeeper, so thanks for that!

dotty2 · 29/11/2012 09:24

Hello KTP and welcome - and good luck. Do you know how to do Achilles stretches before you run? Hope your head stays in the good place and your ankles do you proud.

rusmum · 29/11/2012 22:23

back on it girls xx

cinnamongreyhound · 01/12/2012 09:51

Glad to hear it rusmum, which week did you go for?

OP posts:
shithappensx1000 · 01/12/2012 16:26

Thank you Dotty2. I am now loving the running, although I haven't been out for a week, as I've had a nasty cold/chest infection. Going tomorrow - looking forward to it!
