Hi hat, I was on that bandwagon with you at the beginning of the year. I lost about 25lb in total but have put 5 back on. Wah.

Funnily enough I am starting again tomorrow (well today, now) and going for a Monday weigh in. 6 weeks before schools break up and I would like to be at least half a stone lighter by then.

So count me in . . .

putyourhatonsweetie · 11/06/2012 00:28

oh, hello again fairenuff fantastic...so pleased it's not just me.

Hello you two, nice to see you again. I lost eleven kilos and have gained one but I still want to loose ten more, today I've eaten far to much, back on the wagon tomorrow.

Fairenuff · 11/06/2012 19:37

Well done Vicky that's pretty good going Smile

putyourhatonsweetie · 12/06/2012 12:00

brilliant vicky, you will be my motivation (if that's okay!)

scales this morning was a pretty unpleasant experience, but have eaten really well, avocado toast, omlette and dhal...no snacking (hurray!) now just need to psyche myslef up to a shred before bed....hmmmm

Hello, I've lost 10 kg and slowly gained 11! Started again and it takes ages to loose weight. I need to loose around 8 to 9 kg now so I'm very interested in joining.

putyourhatonsweetie · 13/06/2012 09:32

hello friendly7, do hop in it'll be fun [in denial]

Thank you so much for your nice welcome :)
I need all support I can get. I've tried many times to loose weight and every time it was a good effort but then I'd slip back into my old ways and get back more than I've started with. I need to break this circle... Thank you again :)

Fairenuff · 13/06/2012 17:00

Hi friendly Smile

When we originally started in January, the plan was to do it the healthy way with good diet and exercise but most importantly, to change our habits so that we can not only lose weight but keep it off.

Like you, I have lost weight in the past but put it back on again. This time it's slightly different because although I have gained a little, I can recognise that and do something about it before gaining any more.

I think many of my habits are starting to change. One thing I have done is get rid of my biggest size clothes. There is no way I will go back up a size now so if my clothes start to feel tight I know I need to do something about it. I am NOT buying bigger size clothes, I would rather make the effort to shift a few pounds Smile

friendly7 · 13/06/2012 19:28

Hi Fairenuff, thank you so much for sharing your ideas. I've got rid off many of my outfits when I've lost my 10 kg and I have to say I was feeling upset about it but now reading what you've said I think I should stick to your idea. You are so right, it's better to keep up rather then slide back. I have to say last time it was easier to shift kg, now the weight is just the same for months. Hopefully with support I'll find an opportunity to do it though. My plan is to stick to healthy eating and cut down but not cut out biscuits, bread and rice. I do mild exercise. :)

Fairenuff · 13/06/2012 20:31

Keep a food diary friendly and record absolutely everything you eat for a whole week. If you don't lose much weight have a look back over it and see where those 'hidden' calories are. Just four small biscuits could be 200 calories - you could have a much healthier, more filling snack for the same amount.

friendly7 · 13/06/2012 22:20

Well, would it be okay to have tea with honey and lemon instead of tea with sugar and drink this tea with some pieces of fruit or do you think it still gives me a lot of calouries?

Fairenuff · 13/06/2012 22:28

Personally I would have sweeteners instead of sugar or honey because its no calories at all, but I don't take sugar in my drinks anyway. I'm not sure how many calories in honey but it's probably better for you than white cane sugar. Honey has good health benefits but I can't remember what they are off the top of my head.

Do you use any resources like MyFitnessPal or FoodFocus. Both of these will give you calorie guides. Or does it say on the label how many calories per teaspoon (5ml)? Once you find out this kind of information it makes it much easier to make small choices which really reduce your calorie intake.

Fruit should be fine pretty much any of the time because it's packed with goodness and is the best source of sugar.

putyourhatonsweetie · 14/06/2012 12:28

Also a vote for myfitnesspal here. I think it is really helpful at keeping you on track.

Similarly I have started to change my habits, and alhough my weight was starting to creep up again, have got hold of it now and certainly won't go back to my start weight...

okay day today, porridge, onlette and vegtable tagine, but of fruit and loads of water... getting back on the straight and narrow

keep it up ladies

Thank you both very much for your advice.
Well, I had warm water with a slice of a lemon followed by 3 small tomatoes.
Fir lunch I had my salad-this time-half a small cabbage sliced, 1 carrot slice, lemon juice and an apricot followed by cabbage, carrot, garlic and coriander soup I've cooked. Now I had an orange, an apple, an apricot and 1 little sharon fruit but for dinner we are having shop bought paella with chicken and prawns, I'll have it with salad and then probably a cup of coffee with some honey in it. How am I doing? Hope not too bad...
Will look up the book, thank you :))

Fairenuff · 14/06/2012 16:41

They are websites friendly not books Grin

Here try this one www.foodfocus.co.uk

Shop bought anything tends to be higher in calories than making your own and also full of salt. Some are better than others, you just have to get used to reading labels. How many calories a day are you allowing yourself?

friendly7 · 14/06/2012 17:38

Hello Fairenuff, well, not sure about the calories to be honest. My plan is to have healthy food, cut down bread and butter, cakes and things which are obviously making me fat, have
warm water with honey before any food
have fruit/veg for breakfast
have soup/salad for lunch, possibly both, sometimes something different as the holidays will start and it will be harder to keep the routine I have while the kids and hubby aren't at home for lunch
have family dinner which can be anything hubby likes having but with salad
Reduce cups of teas/coffees to 2 to 3
Have diluted juice and water
If I have biscuits/chocolates, not as much as I used to, lol could easily have 6 in one sitting!!! Will try 3 max now and not every day.
How does it all sound?
Will check the site right now, thank you :)

putyourhatonsweetie · 16/06/2012 23:41

sounds good friendly,

lots of home made soup etc. in this house too, and big salads.

hope you're having nice weeknds. I managed to pull a muscle in my neck Friday morning so not much exercise for me :(, still have stuck to the healthy eating for a week and definitely feel better for it.

Thank you very much putyourhatonsweetie. Well, we've booked Pizza Express for tomorrow evening and I need to find out what would be okay to eat there LOL

Fairenuff · 17/06/2012 12:01

Ha I love pizza but it's a no-no friendly. If you have pasta go for a tomato sauce rather than creamy and no garlic bread. But you can have lots of salad. I would skip the dessert too.

Having said that, I fell off the wagon spectacularly yesterday at a children's birthday party of all places Blush. Too much temptation from the mini sausage, crisps and cupcakes!

Never mind, apart from that I've had an ok week and will eat healthy today. Got my first wi tomorrow. The first week always seems to go so slowly.

friendly7 · 18/06/2012 19:29

Well, I've avoided pasta and pizza having some salads and I did have pudding - cheesecake and cappuccino (no sugar added). Today though I had salads and soup. Thank you Fairenuff for your advice :)))

Wolfiefan · 18/06/2012 19:40

Umm. Was I on the original thread? I know I was on one but it could have been a different one! I have lost 3 stone since the end of Jan. I was running and doing Zumba until I hurt my back. Now walking and doing yoga. Start Pilates next week.
I will NOT be 40 and fat!
Ho hum. Another 3 ish stones to go!?!? But size 16 not 20-22!

Fairenuff · 18/06/2012 19:49

Wow Wolfie well done, what a fab loss!! You must really notice a difference Smile

Well, first weigh in today and I have lost the grand total of < drum roll > . . . half a measly pound. But I did fall off the wagon on Saturday so, ho hum, onwards and upwards.

friendly7 · 18/06/2012 22:47

Thank sounds so cool Wolfie! So happy for you! Keep going! I'm going to try my best to find something I can keep up with so I'm going to do walking, have warm water (read somewhere it's better than cold), go easy on biscuits and bread and eat a lot of veg and fruit, have soup often but have normal dinner so that I have the same as my family in the evenings, just watch out for taking too much. Hopefully I can stick to it. I'm also trying not to feel guilty if I occasionally have food treats but I'll try to have non food treats - hairdresser, beauty treatment, new dress, etc. Let's support each other. I know it helps a lot :)

putyourhatonsweetie · 20/06/2012 10:04

hey there, wow wolfie you must feel unstoppable! Onya (as they say here in queensland)

non food treats really works for me friendly, I think if they are health/ wellbeing focussed as well it helps reinforce the weight loss.

i had an amazing salad for lunch today with chickpeas, roast pumpkin, beetroot which was probably more fattenning than a burger One of my tricks is to try to eat wonderful healthy food, with loads of colours and textures so I feel almost like the diet is a treat, and then the bland cheese sandwich/ coke / flapjack combination doesn't seem so tempting. I hate feeling like I am depriving myself....

still no exercise as my neck is still ropey, but have been keeping busy and trying to drink more water etc.

good luck all and thanks so much for the company
