Has anyone tried Insanity/P90X/Turbofire?

I've been doing Shred and Ripped since Christmas, and (whisper it) I'm getting a little bored of the sight of Jillian, so I thought I'd find something new to do, and came across loads of praise for Insanity etc on the My Fitness Pall forums.

Has anyone tried any of these systems, or anything like them? Did they work? Were they just ridiculously difficult? Did you lose weight?

Any opinions would be great! Oh, and if anyone's got a set they want to sell, I'm in the market Smile

Nope, but 30 day shred has just dropped through my door. Im crapping myself now! Does this mean i have to do it? Confused

Puds yes you do! Shred is awesome, St Jillian of Michael will make you suffer in new and original ways.

rinol I was wondering about Turbofire too, it looks a bit more dance and aerobics based, and I'm better at straight forward unadorned suffering when I exercise Grin

I've also considered Insanity for some straight forward killer cardio but my bank account just can't take it at the moment. Plus I'm rather proud of the muscle tone I've managed to develop and I'm a bit concerned about losing that in favour of an all cardio programme.

As an alternative to Jillian and for far less cash you could try Bob Harper as some of the US reviews compare his workouts to being on par with Inanity/P90x workouts. Might provide a stepping stone between the two? He's certainly taken me up a level from Jillian and I have nearly all of her workouts. I tend to use anything from 5kg down to 1.5kg with Bob throughout a workout so a selection of dumbbells would be useful.

There are trailers and clips on youtube, this is one of his Which with Bob means you rarely don't have a weight in hand. Grin

You would need a multi-regional DVD player though or you can just unlock your DVD player as I did, worked fine: http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/dvd-unlock DVD Unlocking Codes from Money Saving Expert.com

Thanks Life. Bob looks like a good alternative while I decide whether to take the plunge with Insanity/Turbofire etc.

I was wondering about the pure cardio aspect too, but since I bulk up v quickly (for a woman, anyway), I'm not worried about building up my strength again if I do find it too depletes while doing something like Insanity. I want to lose a tiny bit more body fat, and I think some serious cardio is the way forward for me - I've noticed a real difference in shape change since I started running a month or so ago on top of my Shred/Ripped workouts.

ME, me!! I am currently doing insanity with Shaun T! I have just finished day 5 and its brillant although hard work and a full on programme.. am happy to answer any questions you have??

I am hoping to loose weight and tone up but I shall keep you posted on the results.. I am on fitness pal to Hopefully if you want to add me.... I am twinkletoe_183...

Would be great if someone else tried insanity and I wasn't alone... Wink

Ooh, exciting Twinkle! I have added you on MFP?

How ridiculous is it really? Is the meal plan any good? Is there much strength - press ups etc? I've Read several reviews suggesting lack of strength training, but I think they mean in relation to programs with significant amounts of heavy weights.

I'm watching a few sets of insanity/turbofire etc on eBay at the moment, so I'll be joining you next week with something I expect! DH is quite keen too, which is great. I think he can get his head round a 60 day program more than just exercising forever more (I'm hoping he'll want to continue when 60 days are up!)
