Lots of you have said you want to do this - now it's time to put your money where your mouth is, so to speak.

Oh, alright, it's free. Grin

The plan is that we have two very strict weeks of low carbing. Which is why, doh, it's called a bootcamp.

There are 'rules of engagement' for the fortnight - but they're different if you're carnivore or a vegetarian. I shall post the rules for us carnivores, and flipflopflap will post the rules for those of you that are vegetarians.

Sign in with your starting weight - in pounds, stones and pounds, kilos or - if you don't want to reveal your weight, with 100 as an index - and what you're wanting to achieve in the two weeks. I know that not everyone is doing this for the purpose of weight loss, so you don't have to do this if you don't want to - but tell us what you want this fortnight to help you achieve.

The Carnivore Rules

1.Eat three, proper meals a day.
You must eat breakfast. It doesn?t have to be a lot, but you must have something. For the rest of the day, if you?re eating enough food and you are in ketosis then you shouldn?t be hungry. But if you are hungry, eat something. (Hard boiled eggs make a great snack)

2.Avoid processed food
Focus on pure, natural protein as the basis for your meals ? meat/fish/eggs. Things like sausages, ham, bacon, pre-prepared burgers etc should be avoided as much as possible. You can have them, but just not every day. Avoid foods marketed as low carb, e.g. Atkins Daybreak bars.

3.Eat lots of fat.

Eating fat helps you to burn fat. Honestly! Fry in butter, add butter to vegetables, eat salad with a home-made vinaigrette dressing (not made with balsamic vinegar though, as this is too sweet), add mayonnaise where you can (just check the carb count on your mayo first). Eat fattier cuts of meat ? e.g. pork belly, roast chicken with the skin on and/or eat the fat off your lamb chops. Absolutely no low fat/light foods of any kind!

4.Make sure you are eating vegetables and salads with your food ?
This is where your carbs should come from, and this is non-negotiable. But choose only those vegetables that are on the allowed list. You don?t have to weigh/count carbs ? this is one of the great joys of this WOE (way of eating), but if you?re new to low carbing it can be helpful to weigh your portions of veg in the early days, just so that you know how many carbs are in the sort of portions that you like to eat

*5.Be careful about dairy (apart from butter, which is unlimited). It can impede weight loss for some people. If you are still drinking tea/coffee with milk or cream, try to restrict yourself to max 2 cups per day. You may eat cheese, but don't overdo it. Full fat yoghurt is the best way to include dairy in your diet - but beware, it does contain carbs. Total Full Fat is the best.

6.You must drink a minimum of 2 litres of water per day.
The more weight you have to lose, the more water you should drink

7.No alcohol
If you really can't do this - at least try and restrict it to the weekend. Vodka with soda is the best thing to drink. Or Champagne, red wine or dry white wine.

8.No fruit
Really. Seriously. Honestly. None at all. Zilch. Nada.

9.No nuts/seeds
Whilst these are really good to snack on later - it can be too easy to start snacking on these - and before you know it, all your carbs have gone on nuts. Seriously - in bootcamp - don't do it to yourself.

10.No sugar or artificial sweeteners

ledkr

I'm missing my fruit too :(

BIWIWhoMustBeObeyed · 18/04/2012 13:36

You will be able to re-introduce some fruit after the two weeks!

Reality - the inevitable question first - how much water are you drinking? And how much/what type of veg are you eating?

Realitygf · 18/04/2012 13:42

mostly salad at lunch and sometimes evening too. Spinach last night and broccoli the day before. No veggies for breakfast. Haven't been counting tbh.
Water - probably not enough.

MNP · 18/04/2012 13:43

Reality - you probably need some more fibrous veg than just salad/spinach, to be honest. How much fat have you been eating?

And drink more water ... Grin

Don't do it, NotMostPeople! It won't be worth it, honestly!

PostBellumBugsy · 18/04/2012 13:52

notmostpeople - chocolate is the work of the devil! Wink Hide them somewhere where you will forget about them or put them in the bin & pour washing up liquid on them.

noddyholder · 18/04/2012 13:53

what do those oopsie rolls taste like?

alienreflux · 18/04/2012 13:54

cheers!! think i'm eating too much veg and not enough meat. bunged up and sluggish, not sure how i should be feeling by now. have had about 3 coffees a day, with milk, i know i know!! that's not all, and sweetners :( just cant not have them in my coffee, and if i gave up coffee i would surely die?! is this seriously stalling me BIWI?? iv'e stuck to EVERYTHING else, including the alcohol, which i never thought i could do!

Realitygf · 18/04/2012 13:58

Which veg are more fibrous? Sorry to be thick.

Creamtea1 · 18/04/2012 13:59

Can anyone share details on these husk things? Are they stronger than senna as that doesn't work for me do if they're not stronger it's probably not worth me trying. I've started on coffee today (normally have tea) as friends said that's what does the trick for them..

Twit · 18/04/2012 14:01

Felt shit again when I got up but got a bit better sooner, so hopefully tomorrow will be easier again.I still feel pretty vile though TBH. I really want a fry up, which is good. Reading what you put BIWI I might add a tomato to it (fried egg, bacon & mushroom in butter of course)
I have prob not had with enough water this morning but am remedying that.

My problem is I don't want ANY food, sweet/carbo OR proteiny when I feel that bad - but I also know if I could just get some porridge food in me I'd feel better. Am putting mayo and olive oil on all salad, cooking with butter etc so I think I must be getting enough fat.
It doesn't help that BabyTwit keeps waking me up several times a night ATM either, feeding each time.

GreenEyesAndHam · 18/04/2012 14:03

Creamtea I'll be honest, I'm taking the pysllium husk things and not doing too great BUT I'm not the worlds greatest most regular pooer anyway

(dear god, the over sharing)

FiddleDeFat · 18/04/2012 14:07

Creamtea1 The IPD book recommends Psyllium Husks, 1000mg half an hour before food. Holland & Barrett sell them. I have no idea how they work in relation to senna though.

Jacaqueen · 18/04/2012 14:20

Pysillium husks are great to take to stop you getting constipated. I buy the capsules as I cannot stand taking the powder. It turns into wallpaper paste really quickly and I cannot get it down.

However if you are consipated pysillium wont help. It will just add to the bulkiness. I would advise talking something like dulcolax perles to clear the blockage then have the husks everyday as a preventative measure.

But as BIWI says if you are drinking enough water and eating your veg it shouldn't be a problem.

alienreflux · 18/04/2012 14:20

NODDY don't know going to make them tonight! god i feel shite. thought headache had gone this am but has crept back :(

teaandthorazine · 18/04/2012 14:33

Thanks for the virtual tea and sympathy - am now ensconced in clinic so it's relatively peaceful again! Didn't succumb to the cake Smile and have just managed to scarf down today's lunch - chicken and avocado salad. Not nearly enough water as I forgot my sports bottle and gave been out and about all day, but I've had about 1L altogether I think.

Roll on hometime! And sympathies to all those who are feeling a bit shitey today - it does pass and then you feel great.

Btw would heartily recommend a) celery and b) Victoria Health colon cleanse tablets. They take a couple of days to work and then... They really work!

mummyduff · 18/04/2012 14:34

help is anyone else constantly thirsty?? I am drinking so much water and its just not quenching my thirst, is this normal Confused

WizzyBizzy · 18/04/2012 14:42

I'm also thirsty mummyduff - not sure if it is normal. Weird for me as I don't normally drink enough much. 4 coffees, a glass or 2 of water and some wine normally do me.

Going ok today I think. Started with bacon and avocado. Lunch was same veg soup as yesterday but I added chicken and an extra dollop of butter to up the fat. Still scrummy!

And no snacks!! (yet). Quite tired though but that may have more to do with the baby waking me at 5 Grin

WizzyBizzy · 18/04/2012 14:45

And DH thought he'd died and gone to heaven when I presented him with a bacon butty before he headed out the door to work. I think any weight I take off he may well put on!

FourThousandHoles · 18/04/2012 14:46

me too Mummyduff. I'm constantly drinking and I still feel dry. I think it might be the body's way of making sure the ketones are flushed out? I am only an amateur physiologist though, I'm sure BIWI will be along soon with the actual truth.

Mushroom omelette for breakfast, had it late so nothing else yet.
