Checked him out thoroughly and he has all the relevant qualifications, good testimonials etc etc.

Will he hurt me? Will he measure my wobbly bits with callipers? Should I shave my legs?

Eek!!

I have been seeing a trainer for a month now, although I go to her house where she has a small gym. I think it is great. SHe weighs me, but only because I want her to. I do mostly weights/resistance training. Not sure what you are planning at your own house. I find it very motivating, though, and her advice about lifestyle/daily exercise is great.

It should be up to you.

We agreed targets, what I wanted to achieve, how I wanted to achieve it.
I get weighed but that's all. we also agreed that I wanted to build up strength and stamina gradually. I didn't want to push so hard that I hated it and dreaded the sessions.
We vary the sessions and often work out in the garden.

It should hurt a bit or what's the point? Grin

I love my sessions. Made huge difference.

cardibach How much does your P/T charge, if you do not mind or can you PM me please?

GoingForGoalWeight · 02/02/2012 16:58

When i worked years ago before my son was born i used to pay £20 per hour, at the Fitness First gym. The P/T pushed me hard, was friendly and i still wonder how he is :)

AngryFeet · 02/02/2012 17:18

He has mobile gym equipment and he lives a bit far away to trek over to. I looked for a while and he seemed like the best. He does work with lots of glamour models though which I certainly am not Wink.

Yes I would like to be weighed so he can see my progress and he is going to look at my diet (i have done a food dairy for him this week) and give me "homework" as I am only seeing him weekly at first.

I am paying £35 an hour but I am in London so it is pretty good really.

I can empathise with your fears of what he may think ofyou. He wants you to be the best you can be fitness wise and help you in whichever body parts you miught want to improve. If not and you feel he has put you down in anyway. GET RID. Good luck.

Let us know what you did and how you got on, food diary etc sounds great i had to keep one too.

Pagwatch · 02/02/2012 17:32

I like doing my sessions here.
I wave her goodbye and have a coffee and some biscuits a shower.

AngryFeet · 02/02/2012 22:08

Dear lord. I am so weak! Twas very good. He said I should really be changing my diet (obviously). Big breakfast, medium lunch, small dinner. Also no carbs (as in the starchy stuff) after breakfast- veg and fruit fine. 4 workouts a week of 1 hour (running plus some resistance stuff plus swimming and my session with him). Seems a bit full on but I will try my best and tell him if I struggle.

Sounds fab Angry, really pleased it went well. You can tailor the programme to your own life. You'll get the same results, just takes longer. This how i plan to do it after my fast weight loss diet, although i'm angerously overweight and need to abstain from food, as i'm in terrible bad habits/addicted.

You'll be fine if you stay on the plan. I think you shall.

AngryFeet · 02/02/2012 23:38

I think I can. I do love my carbs though! Struggle to do a quick and easy carb free lunch as I hate salad with a passion!

Are you able to cook lunch or do you need to pack/buy something?

I ask because I have omelette or smoked salmon and scrambled egg or soup. There are lots of really nice soups. Chorizo and butter bean is my fav.

Lunch on the go is way harder.

AngryFeet · 03/02/2012 12:45

Well I can cook on most days but Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday I am at work. To be honest I am sitting struggling to think of what I can eat. My normal diet recently (as in a weight loss one) was:-

B - Wholemeal Muffin with light spread and marmite
L - Soup
D - Meat plus lots of veg or pasta and veg in sauce or potato and lots of veg with gravy

I eat my biggest meal at dinner as that is when I have the most time (breakfast I usually have 30 mins to make mine and the kids food and eat), lunch as I say is easier but 3 days I am at work. Along with the low carb after breakfast I am struggling to come up with a weekly menu in my head.

There is a thread, entitled, "Exercise until we're HOT". Something like that! It might be goo for you. I'll post the link here if i find it, for you.

cardibach · 04/02/2012 13:52

GoingForGoalWeight mine charges £15 per hour session, which was less than I expected. I do live in a very rural area where things tend to be a bit cheaper, though.
