And am annoyed with myself for getting the new pack of stuff and fiddling with the stupid wheel thing when SIL who has been on it for a while says that essentially everything is just twice the points it was before. So There!

Short rant over!

I'm struggling with the idea of it a bit myself. I'm on week 3but it's early days and did "old" weightwatchers a few years ago. I'm still in old WW mindset so freak out at some of the Propoints values. 7pp for a bagel Gah! Not sure that it's double the points for everything though ... or is it??!!

I don't bother with that fiddly wheel thing and just point everything online. Quite miss that little card you got with the old system where you could calculate the points using calories and sat fat.

Bit miffed to see my points drop from 29 to 26 and what is all this about fuller foods and eating as much as you like without pointing? er, is this really a good idea? I have a stomach like a bottomless pit and I'm sure I'd put on weight if I did this.

I have lost weight and am happy with that, I just need to "get over" the old system Grin

chipmonkey · 24/11/2011 19:33

I think the difficulty for me is that with the old points I got a lovely "at home pack" with the old system where you calculated your own points allowance and got a couple of the books

I bought the new points system from ebay as I can't face going to meetings at the moment and am too tight to pay to do it online so it seems that with the new system the allocated points are a Big Secret only to be divulged by a WW class leader. I also found it way easier on the old system to add points for exercise. , this new idea of checking whether you can sing while doing the exercise? Hell will freeze over before I sing at the gym!

Stick with it. Propoints rock. I am 4.5 stones lighter since I joined ww in Jan. I reached that in May. I lost weight every week and found it much better than the old system. Also woowoo, you shouldn't be on less than 29 points a day. That's the minimum!

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 24/11/2011 19:40

Chipmonkey, get a calculator, you can use it to work out your daily points and point things up. Well worth it.

chipmonkey · 24/11/2011 21:14

Wow! 4.5 stones! >

WitWoo Shoulders You must be feeling on top of the world!

They changed the daily minimum as of last week, it used to be 29 and now it's 26 although they do say that if you've been losing on 29 then you can stick with that, and then of course there's the weekly allowance of 49. To be fair I have been feeling under the weather this past week and all I've wanted to do is eat, perhaps now I'm feeling better things will be easier. I'm sticking with it, but sooooooooooooo looking forward to christmas day Wine Biscuit Biscuit Wine Wine Wine Biscuit

ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 25/11/2011 20:21

I feel great tbh! There is at least 1 free calculator for smart phones if you have one BTW.

That's v interesting that they've changed the minimum points. Was a reason given?

chipmonkey · 25/11/2011 20:46

I have an i-phone. Must look for a calculator on that.

OP posts:
Bibbit · 25/11/2011 21:50

you should hear the reason. its hilarious! My leader (and the official pamphlet) told me that WW have discovered you can eat less points without affecting your nutritional intake...

Not a peep about the fact that 29 PP were too many for lots of people and they weren't losing....not a peep....

I hate this lack of honesty. Just be honest.

chipmonkey · 25/11/2011 23:39

Got the calculator and my i-phone went down.

Ahh - I'm still BF and was getting 36, but last week it dropped to 33 inexplicably (I do it online using the iPhone app) - now i'm starving most of the time and for the first time ever I didn't lose this week. What to do?

chipmonkey · 27/11/2011 11:12

If you had been losing on 36, then stay on 36. I think if you drop too low, your body can think it's starving and hold on to whatever calories it can.

OP posts:
ShouldersBackAndNoBiscuits · 27/11/2011 11:24

Bibbit, that is truly hilarious. Surely the 49 points should go before your basic daily ones though? I found on 29 a day I was fine and I rarely used my bonus ones. If I'd had 26 I think I would have ended up eating more points by dipping into the weekly ones IYSWIM?

chipmonkey · 27/11/2011 11:56

Oddly enough, on the US sites, the minimum is 24 and the extra weekly points are 35. But the value of the points seem the same?

OP posts:
Bibbit · 28/11/2011 08:57

After my first week on 26, I have 7 weekly points left for today...i might struggle. I usually have lots more. Weigh in tomorrow so shall I share my result? Smile

chipmonkey · 28/11/2011 18:37

Yes, Bibbit, do share!

OP posts:
Bibbit · 29/11/2011 14:25

I lost 1.5 pounds. But, seeing how hungry I have been this week, I am not surprised! I still had 7 weekly points left which I overlooked.

MissWooWoo · 29/11/2011 15:26

congrats on your weight loss Bibbit how does it compare to the previous week when you were on 29?

I've got my first weigh in tomorrow after a full week on 26, the week prior I lost 1.5lbs on 29 points and used all my weeklies. I'm expecting a bigger loss tomorrow as I haven't used all my weeklies - my secret weapon at keeping hunger at bay has been very low point winter vegetable soup.

Bibbit · 29/11/2011 16:41

I lost a pound last week when on 29 points a day. So only a half pound difference.
Can I find your soup recipe on the WW website? I find the low propoints soups a lifesaver.

MissWooWoo · 29/11/2011 17:02

still a bigger loss though so sounds promising. The recipe is my own and is a bit of a faff but well worth it:

250g dry soup mix (lentils/split peas/barley)
carrots, onion, leek, swede - chopped
herbs, salt & pepper
water
little bit of olive oil

soak the soup mix for 12 hours in water
rinse with clean water and then boil rapidly for 10 mins in water
simmer for 1 hour.

in a different pan soften veg in olive oil (it helps to add a little water, put lid on and "sweat" the veg a bit) cover with a couple of litre of water and add soup mix and seasoning. Bring to boil and simmer for a couple of hours until everything is nice and soft. About 2 points a bowl (I think/hope). I got 8 big bowls out of it.

I've just made a similar one but this time with lamb neck so it's much higher on the points - about 7 or thereabouts so I'm going to freeze it in batches and have a bowl every now and then rather than every day

MissWooWoo · 29/11/2011 17:06

forgot to say that if you make this amount you will need quite a big pan. It's very filling and you really feel like you've eaten something. The 0 points soups are alright to "fill a hole" but I find I get hungry quite quickly after, but then I have bottomless pit of a stomach, especially in winter

Bibbit · 29/11/2011 21:33

sounds great! I too find the 0 points soups leave me hungry a little while after. You need a bit of protein!

MissWooWoo · 30/11/2011 10:23

aaarggh! dd is a bit under the weather so not able to make it out to my weigh in. I have weighed myself this morning on my own scales but they are obviously different as it's showing a 4lb weight loss. NO WAY have I lost that amount, so I'm guesstimating 2 - 2.5 lbs would be about right? Would be pleased with that if I hadn't been up since 4.30AM

I have had to have huge "recovery" breakfast to try and get me through the day - half my points for a few slices of toast, some beans and a fried egg. Grrrrr.

It's going to be a very long day

chipmonkey · 30/11/2011 10:55

Oh, I would go with the four pound loss, WooWoo It sounds so good!

OP posts:
MissWooWoo · 01/12/2011 14:12

yes but dangerous too chipmonkey as ate cake yesterday with a devil-may-care attitude bringing my points up to 37 yesterday all in all Blush

still

bibbit You can get a non soaking type of soap mix from Sainsbury it's called "Country Vegetable Mix" and comes in a packet, usually near the lentils and couscous. It works out at 6 points for half a packet (250g) and that should give you about 6-8 bowls of soup as per recipe above. So about 1 point per bowl. Can't be bad!
