If I lose and gain this stone once more I will scream! As soon as a get slimmish I just let it all go to pot and gain it again. I will not weigh myself as it will depress me but I am about 11st and I should be 9.5 - 10st to be at my "non-self-loathing" weight.

Someone else must be like me? Hold my hand and get slim for summer please - i'm going to do healthy eating/running. Starting today. Off to eat yog and strawbs for breakfast.

and its very easy

MumInBeds · 20/04/2011 09:34

Your title is exactly my thoughts this morning only my numbers are higher so absolutely, there is someone like you. I have 2st to lose (again!) Shock.

FauxFox · 20/04/2011 09:56

Thanks mycat - not sure mr m is the answer for me ... I did buy it years ago but I'm not sure I have time to listen or want to read the book conspicuously iyswim.

Have you got a plan Mumsin?

owlets · 20/04/2011 10:04

Only an hour ago I decided the same thing. I am 11 1/2 and I feel my best at 10st but loathing stops when I get to just under 11.
The diet starts today. I'm going to eat lots of veg and lean meats and start exercising again. I might give McKenna a go too.
Good luck all. Will log on again to see how you're getting on.

FauxFox · 20/04/2011 18:13

Hi owlets...it's so annoying isn't it?! one minute you are looking good and a few weeks of stress and not thinking healthy thoughts and BAM stone on, flabby thighs and muffin top Sad

still. i will fix it. again.

This is pretty much what I said when I clambered onto the scales at the weekend, even down to the current and target weights. Not tried PM, what's different about it? Sooooo fed up with this yoyo weight...

BsshBossh · 20/04/2011 19:56

PM focusses on four basic rules:

  1. Eat when you're (physically) hungry
  2. Eat what you want
  3. Eat consciously/slowly
  4. Stop eating when you're (physically) full

So it's not a restrictive diet - you really can eat anything. It's basically a model for "normal eating" and getting back in touch with your body and its needs.

He also has excellent advice on emotional eating, self-sabbotage and conquering cravings.

Many people on the PM thread in this section listen to the CD too. I don't and have still lost over a stone in 6 weeks by just following those 4 rules above.

AppleHEAD · 20/04/2011 21:53

Can I join you? I am about 12 and need to be closer to 10. I have never been this big unless pregnant. I have done quite well so far this week. I'm so bored of gaining losing gaining and endlessly thinking about it. ENOUGH

tibni · 21/04/2011 08:02

Can I join you to please?

Yesterday I decided that I needed to stop the uphill creep (summer clothes are so unforgiving). I am tall, 5 8, so I dont look fat but my stomach and thighs are telling me a different story. I too fluctuate between 10 and 11 stone.

My main food issue is time and priorities. I know what I should be doing with food and I do exercise, but juggling 3 part time jobs and 2 dc (youngest with severe SEN) I get lazy and just grab a slice of toast or chips when i'm called out unsociable hours. My jobs are all emotionally demanding and I can reach for junk after a hard shift.

Yesterday I made myself a salad to come home to when I finished my shift and today I am going to take a load of fruit in rather than the usual chocolate biscuits!

Hope you all had an ok day yesterday.

FauxFox · 21/04/2011 08:16

Hi tibini and apple and Miss...yes I know what to do too but once I am at a good weight I can't keep up the requisite level of 'bothered' to maintain! I don't want to be thinking about food and calories all the time and I've got too much to do!

I'm just doing healthy eating, i've tried Carb free and it does work but I can't eat like that forever so I'm doing v. low cals in the day and a proper but healthy evening meal with DH. I'm going to try very hard to stop packing in the wine and next week I really need to get back into running as i'm booked to do a 10k at the end of may - yikes!

I don't expect it will take me very long to lose half a stone, though the rest might be harder. we'll see. I don't really want to get into weighing etc as it makes me a bit obsessed...

PureNewWoolWithPerfectStitches · 21/04/2011 08:25

LOL! I could post exactly the same as you OP. On and off with the same 1 1/2 stone and on and off with the same self loathing. I'm in mid binge at the moment Sad Blush Angry. I'm going to start again on Tuesday after Easter is done with. I should start now but we have big Easter lunch and a bbq with friends over the weekend so I'm giving my self a chance to succeed (and not sit in misery picking at half a sausage and a salad) by waiting until Tues.

I will be watching this thread with interest and if it's ok join next week.

Good luck girls, seems there's so many of us fighting the same battle (again and again and again...repeat ad nauseum)

Oh and I'm going to try the dreaded shred next week too (having had it sitting on a shelf for a couple of months)

Joby1970 · 21/04/2011 08:25

guys consider the Shred DVD - you look & are slimmer because you are more toned.

tibni · 21/04/2011 11:40

FauxFox I'm the same - dont want to be a miserable bore about food or jumping on the scales everyday because I know I can get obsessed. I do have the shred dvd but never managed to keep it up on a daily basis. I do go to the gym 3-4 times a week - but sometimes work out hard and sometimes enjoy the sauna and spa a little too much! Blush

Well about to go to work, I have fruit with me and will eat my meal later (homemade veg curry). I will try and resist the packet of choc biscuits in my locker - if fact I may be generous and open them for the Audleys (male prison), guarentee they will go in seconds!

Steala · 21/04/2011 11:41

I'm like this. I'm going to confess... what happens to me is this. I try quite hard for a few weeks: eating well, exercising a lot... and people start to notice the difference and compliment me. Then I get complacent and start thinking "Oh, I'm so lucky to be a naturally slim person, I can eat what I want" ... and I clearly can't. I obviously block out the hard work and kid myself that it is easy for me....and the pounds go straight back on.

Why do I do this!??

JaquiChanFeelsBlue · 21/04/2011 12:03

Can I join in next week when I'm back to work? I'm short, about 11 stone, should be more 9 Sad, also need to "learn to love myself".

FauxFox · 21/04/2011 14:04

Snap steala and it used to be true in my teens/early 20s but i'm 33 and two kids now so I clearly can't eat what i like and be slim

OP posts:
Steala · 21/04/2011 16:44

FauxFox, even your title seemed to sum up my life!

foreverondiet · 21/04/2011 17:40

I have managed to loose my excess weight, but the way I see it now is that my new slim body is on loan to me, and if I go back to old WOE then I get the old body back.

JaquiChanFeelsBlue · 21/04/2011 18:03

forever, how much did you lose and how did you do it?

foreverondiet · 22/04/2011 00:12

Was 12 5, now 9 0, over 6 month period.

Restricting calories (MFP), making low fat and low carb choices with food (dukan/douth beach).

Going to gym.

I do look good now and am size 10, but I know that if I go back to old WOE then I'll put weight on. Only time will tell.

I look at chocolate bar and think - do I want to stay thin or should I eat it and get fat. Same with pasta / bread / rice etc. Mainly eat meat/fish and veggies now plus egg and fat free dairy.

No point in dieting unless you are prepared to commit to it forever. Of course portion sizes can increase a bit and can have occasional treats once in maintainance.

JaquiChanFeelsBlue · 22/04/2011 10:26

forever, am very impressed, well done. You must have a lot of determination, unlike me.

Tortington · 22/04/2011 10:28

im low carbing - here is my blog this was of managing my weight has worked for me - the first time in my lifetime.

MillsAndDoom · 22/04/2011 10:32

Another one - lost 3 stone a couple of years ago and have put nearly 2 of them back on again - need to get back to where I was and then loose a further stone to get to a healthy weight

QueenStromba · 22/04/2011 10:55

I'm on my third round of losing the same 4 stone and before that I lost the same stone several times.

GreenToes · 22/04/2011 11:50

I know it's already been mentioned but the Paul McKenna method really is great. I had been dieting and got to nearly the size I want to be (not weighing myself) and then just ended up giving up. First I looked at slightly more extreme diets but then I decided that I didn't want to have to spend the rest of my life worrying about what kinds of food to eat and feeling guilty if I eat something "bad". Now I eat whatever I want, which usually turns out to be something relatively healthy anyway, and I am starting to lose weight again. Because you are changing your eating habits rather than what you eat, it is much easier to stick to and also makes it easier to eat out etc.

Good luck with whatever you decide to do :)
