I have a 6 week old baby and shed loads of weight to lose after eating for britain slightly too much in pg as it was the only thing to help my never ending pg nausea.

I'm currently 3.5 stones heavier than my pre preg weight, but, even my pre preg weight was a couple of stone above my ideal weight Blush . So, I have a long way to go.

Anyone else wanting to shift some pounds and give each other a kick up the bum support? Don't let me do this on my own - I'll never manage it Wink

are you considering myfitnesspal? if so come and join the new weight loss thread?

foreverondiet · 07/04/2011 13:36

BTW, your baby is only 6 weeks old, don't worry about it for now! I couldn't diet whilst breastfeeding as I was too hungry, so started when DS2 was 6 months old.

slowangels1 · 07/04/2011 13:39

foreveronadiet what is this myfitnesspal you speak of? I'm quite limited on fitness as had csec and also have dodgy back, so most excercise aside from small bursts of slow walking are out for the min. That and the fact I'm ravenous all the time from bfing but no time for cooking healhy stuff and I have an extremely limited special diet is not helping my cause. Oh, why do I bother

www.myfitnesspal.com

No need to do any exercise though, just way of logging what you eat (and exercise when you are ready).

I found dieting when breastfeeding too hard as was starving the whole time, although clearly would have been better to eat more healthy foods than ice-cream and cake....

meanwhile 6 months on (DS2 nearly 1) I have lost over 3 stone..... (ie started diet when DS2 weaned at 5.5 months)

debka · 07/04/2011 13:47

hi angels!

oops gotta go, muffins ready to come out of the oven laptop about to run out of battery....be back soon :)

slowangels1 · 07/04/2011 13:52

3 stone Grin Grin Grin was it hard work or did it just slide off ?

I'm running walking slowly to look at this web site Wink

(waves to debka :) )

OP posts:
foreverondiet · 07/04/2011 15:46

Sorry, it was hard work, both diet and exercise.

It slid on though Blush. Some people do loose it in a slide off sort of way, sadly not me.

ElleB1980 · 07/04/2011 15:53

Hello!

I'm 7 weeks pp now and back in the land of the living. Been lurking on the Feb thread but not quick enough to post but I so need to get back in shape. I am almost back to my pre-preg size but have the baby roll over the top of my jeans and still need to lose 2 stone to get a healthy bmi.

So, I think I'll start the health kick next week (I finally get my 8 week check then) and I'm aiming for a stone to be long gone by July when I'm a bridesmaid...

X

slowangels1 · 07/04/2011 16:40

hi elle - yes. I remember you Wink

well, I've come on here to admit I've just eaten some green and blacks mint choc AND a WHOLE PACK Blush of choc rice cakes today. Yikes this is not going well. I thought until the other day choc coated rice cakes were a 'healthy' way to get my choc fix as 'it's a rice cake - they're healthy arn't they', looked at the nutrition content - turns out, not quite as good as I thought Shock

shall we do weigh in wednesdays (WIW)? where we write if we are up or down from last week (not sure I'm brave enough to give my actual weight) and/or total down from start weight? I only suggest wed as it starts with the same letter as weigh Grin

OP posts:
ElleB1980 · 07/04/2011 17:15

Weigh in Wednesday sounds good to me!

Angels i totally feel your Green and Blacks pain. I've been a chocolate monster since I got pregnant...not helped by the fact that I work for Cadbury!

What types of exercise are people planning on? Has anyone tried Zumba?

tadjennyp · 07/04/2011 17:17

Hello. I have about 23 lbs to lose but don't have any scales so will have to get weighed whenever I go to the doctors! I'm also starving as bfing but really could do with not buying chocolate bars to get me through the day! Wednesdays sound good though.

slowangels1 · 07/04/2011 17:39

yes, I think the thing I should do is not buy chocolate in the first place Blush

elle do you get free chocolate if you work for cadbury? Grin

I'd love to try zumba but I'm still only just managing to walk (although gradually quicker and quicker) after csec - my recovery seems so slow and since I got scar infected I'm quite scared so trying to take it slow to begin, plus, I have back issues. I'm a step aerobics girl myself - love it :) think it will be some months before my body lets me do that though. I was thinking start just walking and maybe yoga - maybe I'm being too lazy cautious Hmm

I find the Davina DVD quite good and a gentle introduction back to exercise.

slowangels1 · 07/04/2011 17:58

there was a web site i used to subscribe to that do lots of videos online and I'm sure they do post natal ones too - it was called thinqfitness. They do yoga type things too and also have quite a few free fitness videos to watch online that you might want to nosey at to try

ElleB1980 · 07/04/2011 17:59

I'm usually just a runner but I was thinking some kind of group exercise might be motivational. I've recovered well after my section, but I'm not ready to bounce too much yet! I've not been able to breastfeed but am still expressing and my boobs are humongous!

And yes Angels...a lot of free chocolate. And we get to swim in the chocolate river at lunch :)

ledkr · 07/04/2011 20:16

just marking my place have done ww al day and feel very self righteous haha,im 9 wks pn and 2 stone heavier than pr pg damn it.bought size 16 jeans today and aint happy.

MizK · 08/04/2011 04:41

Hi ladies, def need to join this. Weighed myself on Tues and I am 11st13lb! At 5 7 tall that makes me officially overweight, waa! I usually weigh around 10 stone on average so have a fair bit to shift. I have signed up to a group called Pushy Mothers basically you work out in the park using your buggy to help! Solves the babysitting problem plus you get to meet other mums. Starting it in two weeks after my PN check, so will report back, they do classes all over the country tho so must be good?
In the interests of full disclosure I ate tons of cheesecake today and am confident that I shall do the same tomorrow as its sitting in the fridge, just waiting to ensnare me!

ledkr · 08/04/2011 10:27

Miz-i wish i was that weight,i am about 13 which is 2 stone more than i started and im wearing a sssssssssssssixteen argh.I am same height as you, joined a netball team but baby played up the night before so too tired,i am walking more tho, just about to attempt the Davina pn dvd if baby stays asleep. Its so hard the eating thing cos i reward myself with food when i get achance to relax.

slowangels1 · 09/04/2011 18:09

this dieting is going the worst - I'm so darn ravenous all the time with bfing. Anyone else get this? What on earth can I do?!

mizk love the sound of pushy mothers (good name Wink ). Think we have something like that here I've wondered about once I'm up to it - please tell me what it was like and how hard it was (and what people do if their LOs do nothing but scream)

I've decided to blame my massive weight gain on massive boobs Wink - don't think I'm kidding myself though Blush

ledkr i reward all my hard work stuck feeding in front of the tv looking after alice with food too, and I find it so hard as I never know when I'm going to manage to eat/have a meal due to feeds so I tend to eat all the time as I don't know when I'll be stuck looking after her screams etc for ages and won't be able to. Think this is messing me up on the diet front.

ILovePonyo · 09/04/2011 18:18

Right I'm marking my place - thought I just needed to tone up a bit but after trying on summer clothes today decided I'm deluded and need to lose some bloody weight - and stop eating so much crap. Had a mini eggs easter egg for my breakfast today Blush

I don't own any scales but do have a wii fit which can weigh me I think? I havn't been on the bloody thing for at least a year - before I had the excuse that I was pregnant but now I don't have that excuse anymore :(

Dp is cooking lovely healthy veg tagine for tea, but we've got choc cheesecake for pudding - oh dear! Dp is lovely and skinny too so its not like he has to worry about diet or exercise Envy

ledkr · 09/04/2011 19:39

ange it is normal to be hungry when feeding,i used to get very thirsty too, I was doing well on ww but now the hols are here its so hard, had a bbq tonight and now me and els are having popcorn watching mama mia-i love it.

foreverondiet · 09/04/2011 21:33

angel I was totally starving the whole time when BFing, completely failed to stick to any diet, and actually got back up to full term weight once he was 6 months old. I don't regret it, have lost it all now, dieting was much easier once I stopped feeding.

Obviously not helpful if you plan to feed long term but for me BFing and loosing weight are not compatible.

tadjennyp · 11/04/2011 18:18

It's very hard to lose weight while you're feeding and you tend to eat more crap when you're tired anyway - well that applies to me! As I do the shopping I ought to have the self-discipline to not buy any crap, but I don't! Will have to just try and do more exercise for now and worry about calories a bit later I think! Hope you girls are having better luck than me!

slowangels1 · 13/04/2011 08:29

WIW - I've lost 2 lbs Grin Grin . Sadly, I don't think I've actually lost anything, more a case of last time I weighed myself it was in the evening after a big dinner, and this time it was first thing in the morning before bfast (and after 2 loo trips in the hope that would help the cause Wink ). Still, guess it makes me feel a little better. Anyone else?

MizK · 13/04/2011 13:09

Well done angels!!!

Sadly I have managed to gain a pound. Fook. Not a happy bunny. I always weigh myself in boots as scales in the house send me crazy, so had to restrain myself from howling Nooooo!! when I saw I had gained!
Going to start in earnest now cause I can't bear being chunky much longer. Hope the rest of you are doing better than me. (Self pitying emoticon)
