Oo can I join too please ladies? I think I have about 3 stone to lose and am really struggling. Even though I often feel ill when I'm overeating and know I should stop I don't/can't. I really don't know what my problem is but I know I need to do something about it and I feel so awful being the fat one out of my friends - have even stopped going some places when I feel really down about it.

I'm going to mark my place for now - baby #2 due beginning of Feb so with the best will in the world I'm not going to shift much weight between now & then Xmas Wink However I will get some new batteries for the scales & join the weigh in. Happily, due to the ma-hoo-sive bump my appetite is somewhat diminished at the moment - the spirit is certainly willing for a major pig-out but the body can't keep up! I turn 40 in June so would like to be somewhat more svelte by then, if not super skinny. I'm looking to come down 3 dress sizes if I can.

Pig to twig definitely works for me. I'm almost looking forward to it! Now, just decide whether to scoff myself stupid between now and Saturday!

I would love to join. I have about 4 stone to lose. I am a size 18 at the moment (not sure of weight).

I lost five and a half stone about 3 years ago and have put a lot of it back on. I have a cross trainer, wii fit and recently bought the shred dvd. I really want to use them but never seem to keep it up Blush

Have started shred- theres a 2011 shred thread for shredheads!

cries and holds thighs

Am semi-dieting- i.e. salad & dry chicken breast + chocolate & gin

I'm in. 30 day shred ordered. Wii fit owned for over a year and never used. Weightwatchers sign up done.

Losing weight as I have a BMI of 31 and am 'planning'. Would like to be a healthy size 12/14 before starting to gain it all back ;)

Looking forward to seeing all the weight lost posted after new year :)

Can I join? It's my birthday in January and that means only a year to 40. I have type 2 diabetes Which has no doubt been helped along by me being 4 to 7 stone overweight for nearly 20 years and I really want to see 50.
I've been doing the 'swine flu' diet for the last 4 days and temps finally came down today (thanks to tamiflu) so I'm eating again but have lost half a stone so I'm using that as a kickstart, believe me when I say it's not the sort of kickstart I would have wanted though. It's probably all water anyway but it's a start.

I need to loose 6 stone in total but I'm aiming for 5 before next January so we shall see. My only quandary is weight watchers or slimming world?

Rosie - we must be the same age, I'm 39 in January too. I really want to have my health under control by the time I'm 40.

Hi Profyaffle (you young slip of a thing :)) yes its
Do-able In a year surely? Trouble is I say this every year and whilst some years I succeed in losing weight most I don't. This year just gon e saw me at my heaviest (17.6) but I lost a stone and a bit at the end of the summer and this morning I've just weighed myself and I'm 15.13.8 - yippee! Sounds fat but less fat now iyswim. So glad I've found a buddy thread as this WILL be the year i finally get healthy (being slim will be a by product as i just want to be healthy) Which diet are you going to use? I'm wondering about doing Ww now as my portion control is crap and the new plan seems to be working for people?
I have a feeling that a week ago I was at least 16.7 but am going to put my start weight for posterity on here as 16.0 and I am aiming for 10.11 ( that is the top end of my Healthy bmi) anything else is a bonus.

I'm not going for a 'diet' as such this time round. For me I think food is all about me resisting outside control and rebelling against the 'rules' (think it goes back to having controlling parents). I've done WW and SW in the past but, psychologically, I don't think it's healthy for me, I need to re-discover my own inner gatekeeper.

In my 20's I ate well and exercised a lot. When I met dh I put on weight due to all the eating out, went on WW to lose it and then started the rules/rebel cycle which I've never managed to get out of.

I have to somehow or other find my own way. Easier said than done though Smile

I know its really tough to find a diet that suits you let alone stick to it. but lets face it, hand on heart we know what we should and shouldn't be eating and how much exercise we should and shouldn't be doing.

ProfYaffle - it's exactly the same for me. Slimming clubs just don't do it for me. Somehow joining doesn't give me the motivation - I've got to really want it to succeed to and that determination is what I need. I'm too am not going to diet - or weigh or count but be sensible and hope it works. Are we going to have a regular weigh in day where we all post?

It's easy to say less food/drink and more exercise - it's just putting it into practice!

Hand on heart, I'm sure everyone knows - which is why hand holding is always helpful.

I'm in. I've set up a contest with my sis too as I really need to lose over 3st.

I'm currently 15st 6. I'm very tall, so have crept up to this quite easily.

Will start tomorrow if that's ok? Tonight I have NYE party and am just not prepped for it, mentally.

Will be doing old style ww and gym 3 x a week.

Will have to start on Sunday for me - is that ok? Have MIL Sunday dinner to go to and even veg isn't safe from butter.
