Hi vickyumyum

Glad that you are doing so well. Please do stick around still

With Slimfast is it possible to replace ALL your meals? I just was worried whether you will be getting all the vitamins and minerals you need just from the packs?

You must be feeling so good about things. I cant wait for when my clothes start feeling looser rather than straining at the waistband!

I just cant wait to get going now, but it is beginning to get daunting thinking that this time next week I will be on packs!!

vickiyumyum - you need to be really careful - Slimfast is not intended to be a complete meal replacement product and may not have the right balance of nutrients for you. It also has carbohydrates in it which stops you going into ketosis like you do in LL - that makes it terribly difficult to sustain as you will still feel hungry. With Ketosis you don't feel hungry as being in Ketosis suppresses the appetite.

If you want something similar to LL - then there is a program run by pharmacists - called Lipotrim. If you find the website you can find out if you have a pharmacy near you that does the diet. There are loads of forums on discovery health that covers the different meal replacement diets.

Please be careful

have been using supplements for vitamins and once i have lost this first few initial stones then i will replace one soup/shake a day with a meal. e'g this weekend we were away and so on the night time i had a salad with chicken and a couple of new potatoes (as opposed to my usual large helping).

I actually don't feel hungry at all as the water stops hunger pangs. its difficult to describe, how much better i feel this week as opposed to last week. i had every flavour of shake and soup and tried most of the recipes, but couldn't keep it down so to not be sick this week and to not feel hungry either feels like heaven!

i suppose the final breaking point for the LL diet was the cost, i simply cannot afford it. plus the counsellor didn't instill confidence in me. but the main reason was cost, if i could have afforded it i probably would have carried on, even though it made me sick. being sick is something that i can handle, in my teens i spent a few years making myself throw up after meals and ended up in hospital, so this was probably a concern for the gp too. i do find it funny now though to find that i am now at completley the opposite end of the scale weight wise!

the first week of any diet is a miserable experience in my opinion, so hope it all works out well for you. have my gym induction tomorrow evening so wish me luck with that! (having to let yet another person know my weight!)

have looked up lipotrim on google and it appears that there is not one near me, however i have emailed them asking if they know of any pharmacies near me and i am going to speak to my gp and ask her about it too.

thanks

I can understand your frustration but would echo what Soapbox has said - Slimfast was never designed to be a complete meal replacement course (even if some of the flavours are nicer!) so please be careful. Good luck!

i just need the quick start and once i have got the first couple of stines off, i will be more sensible and use it as intended, am going to do the majority of it the old fashioned way, exercise etc. i am hoping i can renew my enthusiasm in exercise as pre kids used to go to aerobics three times a week, swimming at least three time and to the gym most days and for the odd jog too. i know now that i don't have time to do all of this and it probably was excessive, but would like to be enthusiastic about something rather than doing it for the sake of it. we were away this weekend and ths morning whilst dh took ds's for a cooked brekie, i went swimming and did 50 lengths (not a huge pool by the way!) love swimming but not sure about is abilty as a fat burning exercise, i know its good for toning, i.e breast stroke.

Hello all, I've just joined lighter life and my GP has just signed the health form (begrudgingly) he gave me a right old lecture about the diet saying I was being lead up the garden path blah blah and that he should not have to use his time filling in these forms that they are giving to members. Anyway, I gave him a really sorrowful look and told him that they would not take me unless I has this form signed and eventually he did. I am going to my first class on Thursday and will let you know next week how much I have lost. Good luck everyone else who's just starting this plan, Louise xxxx
