Is anyone else in Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness Club

Hi

I started at a Rosemary Conley Diet and Fitness club last week and weigh in this week. The first week has been good, although I have slipped a couple of times already! The diet is do-able and actually rather good.

I just wondered if anyone else is doing it and would like to share tips.

I am very keen to get fit as well as slim, and most of all to get healthy. I am hoping to make a lifestyle change and I know it will take time.

Good luck to all other slimmers out there.

Can someone tell me how this diet works please :)

Italiangreyhound · 21/01/2011 22:10

Nappyaddict Hi, welcome.

The general rule is that nothing should be more than 5% fat, except treats which are limited.

You get a set number of calories for all participants for the first 2 weeks, 1200 (healthy, low fat food) and then from then on for the next two weeks it is 1400, then afterwards you have an amount based on your weight.

You eat healthily based on breakfast, lunch, dinner and two healthy power snacks.

After the first two weeks you can factor in treats and alcohol etc.

Do you have a class near you?

The classes are great and include a weigh in, a short talk (like 5 mins) about food/healthy eating and then about 40 minutes of good (not too strenuous) exercise.

The cost of the class is about £5 a week and if you become a premier member you can go to any classes to exercise in your franchisee's area (although you only get weighed once a week).

All the best.

Hi all bluedomino, firsttimemum77, ppeatfruit, TINKERBELLE33, ShirleyL, MaudOHara, Galaxymum, Coffeebeans and Nappyaddict Hi all, how are you, anyone hanging around? Anyone want to say how they are doing?

I saw this on another thread, most inspiring!

Good luck to all.

I don't have a class near me I was wondering if I could do it by doing the diet and going to the gym regularly.

ColleenEatsVeg · 24/01/2011 20:03

Going to my first meeting on Thursday with five stone to lose (terrible I know). Dh and I were TTC, couldn't and after many pounds piling on unexplained and no luck with all the fun in the bed room, I found out I was hypothyroid.

Sooooo looking forward to getting the weight off and then starting again. Any tips to a newbie joining? Should I bring a change of clothes to workout, an exercise mat? and what should I expect on the menu for the first few weeks (I am vegetarian btw so not fish either)

Italiangreyhound · 26/01/2011 00:26

Nappyaddict why not get in touch with Rosemary Conley head office via the website. I think the Rosemary Conley DVDs are very good. I have the Ultimate one and it is good.

Good luck.

ColleenEatsVeg Well done for joining and all the best. You can be my inspiration too, because I have a lot to loose!

For the exercise class we take a bottle of water (although they do sell them for 50p at our class if you forget to bring one). Take a towel to rest your head on and sit on. They probably will provide mats but if you have your own then take it. Wear loose fitting, light clothes. I like to wear as little as I can for the weigh in but of course, shorts or leggins or cycle shorts or whatever and a baggy t-shirt, and undies and TRAINERS for the weigh in (good sturdy sports bra if needed). I wear the same clothes each week, or there abouts, even on the days I am not staying to exercise (sometimes I have to rush off to work - staying for the exercise is always best if you can though). Anyway, I wear the same clothes so the results are the same.

The menu for the first two weeks is quite strict but if you can keep to it then it is great. After that it does get easier.

All the best, let us know how you get on if it is an encouragement.

Hi everyone, hope you are managing to keep up the good work. I'm still struggling to stick to the eating plan and exercise is a no no due to work commitments (finishing at midnight and up again at 5.30). Still I've managed to lose all my Christmas weight so feeling a bit better. I've managed to almost eat all the rubbish clear out the cupboards so there's less temptation around! Couldn't give it to skinny friends as they are all RC members too! Am determined to try harder this week - will keep you posted

Italiangreyhound · 28/01/2011 01:06

TINKERBELLE33 fantastic, well done. So proud of you losing Chrimbo weight. Keep up the good work. Grin

Thanks for the support. I am currently looking for a new job but will need to take a pay cut so need to weigh up if this is a viable option. Hope you have a good week.

Italiangreyhound · 01/02/2011 00:46

tink whatever you do I hope it will work out well for you and please stay in touch if you wish to.

I lost 2 pounds at Rosemary Conley this week and just been for a walk with neighbour's dog. Feel exhausted now. I am busy with work, church, cleaning out the crowded pig sty I live in!

I feel more confident of this gradual weight-loss and confident that it will stay off.

I have been watching the biggest loser and I am HORRIFIED that they are treating the contestants in such a horrible way.

ColleenEatsVeg · 06/02/2011 20:15

First week weigh in and lost 7 lbs! Have 5-6 stone to lose but it's a start.

Italiangreyhound · 08/02/2011 23:15

ColleenEatsVeg my goodness that is amazing, that is half a stone! You often get a good result at the start and a kick start is a nice way to feel you are really on your way. Well done.

You are a big encouragement to me.

Riapwhatyousow · 09/02/2011 22:13

Hi, may I join please?

I agree about the Biggest Loser, it is brutal and not sustainable weight-loss IMO.

I am not going to a RC class, as there isn't one hereSad, but I have just joined an independent class at the gym where we weigh-in, do a work-out, then have a motivtional/nutrition talk at the end. The nutrition lady today was talking low-GI, so I have dug out my RC books, and will try to follow the 2 week plan, though I have found it difficult in the past as I have a lot to lose. But I do get a good loss if I stick to it. Rosemary has a facebook page and gives a daily tip if anyone is interested.

TINKERBELLE33 · 10/02/2011 23:26

Hi Riapwhatyousow, glad you found us. It sounds as though you are doing a similar thing to RC so I'm sure you will be successful. Also thanks for the FB tip off.

Italiangreyhound - thanks again for your kind words, you sound as busy as me! Decided we couldn't afford the paycut so didn't go for the job but have had a tip off about a possible vacancy elsewhere so fingers crossed.

Congratulations on the weight loss, you are doing brilliantly. I've hit a bit of a plateau, 1/2 off last week and stayed the same this week but have lost 4 inches this week so not too disheartened.

Have a good week everyone and keep up the posting - it really helps motivate me.

Enjoy a calorie free virtual Wine & (non-insulting) Biscuit on me!

Italiangreyhound · 11/02/2011 01:39

Riapwhatyousow welcome and well done. Hope we can give you some support.

TINKERBELLE33 well done on sticking to it, a big weight loss one week seems to result in a smaller or no loss the next, or so it seems to me! I guess we are in it for the long haul, the long view!

You guys really are an inspiration and an encouragement for me.

I am a terrible snacker, that is my problem!

Once I start I can't stop so it is best not to start. I have found it so much easier to go for small amounts of snacks, things where I get a set portion. A whole packet of biscuits or a big bag of chips/rice crackers is my downfall, I can't stop! I'd like to explore why I eat like this. I think it is comfort eating because even though I am very happy and secure now I was very shy as a child and wonder if I am comfort eating!

I am very keen to get fit and active. I don't just want to be slim, I want to be fit, and live a long time. I think that is what I feel is different about this approach for me (weight loss and exercise together), it is about all those things, losing weight, losing inches, wearing a smaller dress size (more appropriate I mean not a tiny size) but most of all having a healthy BMI and being able to walk/run/get out of my chair without creaking!

Anyway, enough of me, glad to hear from you and all the best.

Hi I am starting this week. Can I join you please? I have never done RC before but have tried all the others ang have lost 3.5st so far but have been stuck for quite a while.

saturn · 27/02/2011 21:19

Hi, can I join you too?

Going to my first class tomorrow night and looking forward to getting started. Think I've about 3 stone to lose, will find out tomorrow night!!

All tips gratefully received Smile

Italiangreyhound · 28/02/2011 00:11

shortandsweet2 and saturn, welcome. Of course you can join in. People do not seem to post very often but all posts are gratefully received. All the best.

My only tip is to really go for it in the beginning because that is when you really get the momentum going.

All the best, all the very best to both of you.

Got a question for anyone posting on this thread.

Don't let it put you off if you are doing Rosemary Conley because I have found it the best way to get fit.

I have really enjoyed the Rosemary Conley classes and have got a real love for exercise now, which is fab, and which I was really keen to get out of the classes but I am afraid my eating problems are not great.

Loads of times I have lost weight and put it back on!

My sis thinks I have problems with food, and I agree. Hmm It is weird because I am very happy now and very fortunate to have a great hubby and lovely daughter, and a job I like, my Christian faith is very important to me, my family are close by and I am fit(ish) and well. But as a kid I was very shy and I've had anxiety in the past, and a touch of OCD! So maybe, just maybe I am eating for comfort, for acceptance, I am not sure for what!

Anyway, I am going to try and get a book from the library, anyone heard of it these books:

Eating the Moment: 141 Mindful Practices to Overcome Overeating One Meal at a Time by Pavel Georgievich Somov?

Or Overcoming Overeating: It's Not What You Eat, It's What's Eating You! by Lisa Morrone?

Or Overcoming Overeating: How to Break the Diet/Binge Cycle and Live a Healthier, More Satisfying Life by Jane R. Hirschmann and Carol H. Munter?

Or, finally, The Food and Feelings Workbook: A Full Course Meal on Emotional Health by Karen R. Koenig?

Has anyone heard of any of the authors?

Which one is better?

Can anyone recommend a good book on emotional or comfort eating, please? Grin

If you want to reply about the food thing and not clog up this thread I did start a new one in the big/slim/weight lose section of Mumsnet.

It is at

Hi everyone - hope you are all having a good week. Thought it was about time I posted again, it's been a while!

Since last time I posted I lost 1/2lb, then got SOW with 3 1/2lbs and last week put on 1/2lb! The weight loss isn't going as well as I had hoped but I have lost another 4 inches so can't really complain. Dreading this weeks weigh in as I have had a few drinks and cakes this week.Blush

It's nice to have few new(imagined)faces, keep posting I find it really helps (thanks again Italiangreyhound). If you need any help or advice just ask. This is my second time doing RC having lost 3+ stone before the DCs and am almost at 2 stone this time around. I am finding it harder this time around as I don't have the time to swim before work everyday like I did before, but it's steadily coming off bit by bit.

Good Luck

Riapwhatyousow · 01/03/2011 21:25

those books sound interesting italiangreyhound. I am a comfort eater too.

Back to my class at the gym tomorrow after half term, which was a bad thing. But I am determined to make myself go, take the bad news on the chin, and get re-motivated. I am struggling with new meds ATM, and motivation for everything is low, I am behind with my OU studies too, so I need to get a grip!

I have even lost interest in surfing the netShock
