Why so nervous??

I bought injections last year and didn’t use them out of fear, now bought the tablets. I don’t know why I’m so scared. I have read about the medication sensibly, spoken with my GP, have no health conditions that could cause problems…. I am nearly 20 stone and 5 foot 4 and middle aged, I know the risks are great remaining how I am. I have supportive family. I am just scared. I am worried about bowel and stomach changes. I’m worried I don’t know how I’ll
get through a day eating differently or really what I’ll eat. Give me a talking to!

Just get on and take one tomorrow morning. Don’t over think or try to talk yourself into it out of it. Just choose a time and take it. The risks of taking them are much much less than remaining morbidly obese.

My only regret is not starting sooner. I cannot tell you enough how much my life has changed losing 7 stone. Go for it! Any side effects, which most don’t get, pass in a few days.

Yes, agree with @PearlsTeapot that my only regret is not starting sooner.

Op I hear you. I think it’s very natural to be nervous. Ultimately you need to choose, do you trust this medicine which has been tested and approved by regulators across the world, and which your GP has approved you taking? Or not?

For what it’s worth, I choose to trust the scientists and medical staff, who have developed these drugs.
As they build up very slowly in your system, and they clear through in a few days, I suggest you try one dose.
If you feel ok, then consider a second dose.

Thank you, I’ve never worried about a medicine before, I suppose it’s just the complete change as to how I interact with food plus that fear of the unknown

Everything pps, said - losing 6.5 stone in my mid 50s has been so wonderful.

Plus, what I said to another nervous poster. You're not signing a contract with the devil. In the unlikely event you really don't get on with them, you can stop. But you'll never know until you try.

Whereas if you don't use them the odds are you'll almost certainly remain obese for the foreseeable future.

You've got a choice between a definite negative outcome, and an extremely likely positive outcome with a small chance of (usually very manageable) side effects.

I think I was nervous because for the first time ever I felt that there might be a chance to be a healthy weight. The hope was terrifying.

Now I’ve been slim for a whole year. It’s amazing.

WhereAreMyReaders · 17/08/2026 23:46

Yes I suppose if this doesn’t work then what will and that is scary too

Just do it, if you don’t like it don’t take the next tablet, it’s not some life long commitment.
