Constipation on Wegovy after three weeks, any advice on managing it?

I’d appreciate any help! I am on the waygovy pill and just completed week 3. Constipation is my main symptom. After 10 days, I took a suppository - kids one as we had it in the house. Dulcolax in the days proper hadn’t helped at all. I went to the loo within about 10 minutes of using the suppository and passed a little. Not a lot, just a little but I did feel relief.

Roll forward to this week, I did the same on Tuesday. Hardly anything came out. No relief this time but I did feel the need to go more than once. On second and third visits, it was just gas I was passing.

I felt very bagged up this morning so again took another suppository or should I say insert. Same as Tuesday. I’d say between these 3 episodes I have passed what I would have done naturally, may be a little more.

I have bought fibre gummies and also fybogel to try today. Any other suggestions. Feel I could go again now but suspect it’s wind again. Is it normal to pass such small amounts? I am not sure given I am not eating huge amounts.

I find a daily magnesium supplement and plenty of water works best for me - it draws the water into the intestines.

I used a suppository once and it was quite effective. Keeping it in for longer than 10 mins helps and probably adult size would make a difference. I managed around 40 minutes (lying in bed) before I went downstairs -then very quickly back up! I think the movement triggered the sudden urge to go.

Lots of kiwis worked for me

endofthelinefinally · 15/08/2026 15:32

Lactulose

Offredismysister · 15/08/2026 15:34

Dulcolax syrup, a few mls each night before bed.

Add chia seeds, dates, figs, prunes to porridge, smoothies, or yoghurt, lentils and beans to soups and stews.

Fruit, cereals and prunes.

Laxido works for me.. also add prunes and kewi with skin on to your diet..

Daily Laxido (Movicol) for me is the only thing that works. You can buy it over the counter but I get mine from my gp. All the prunes and kiwis in the world weren’t helping me

A daily psyllium husk one each morning, make sure to take with water, I drink a litre with ir before my coffee,

stay hydrated - aim for 3 litres a day

try prunes if you need something more, but you shouldn’t.

Short term - asda do a constipation relief tablet that’s good. If you’re really bad then you might need to take two tablets a day for 2-3 days but start with one initially.

long term - work on increasing your fibre intake as that’ll keep things moving through your system. Aim for 25-30g ish but increase it gradually rather than all at once. I also take magnesium and psyllium husk tablets

to be honest I think there’s different types of constipation with me, what works great for me sometimes has no effect on my next bout! Movicol is usually the most consistent but takes 4-5 days to do its thing.

Thanks everyone for helping. I did manage to go properly yesterday but that will be down to the suppositories and tablets. Will definitely look at some of the suggestions here.

Fruit with skins. Lots of water. I like home made granola with lots of seeds and nuts, with great yoghurt and extra linseed and fruit (grapes, blueberries etx). Seems to help but takes a few days and is a sign I haven't been eating enough fiber in the first place.

At least 2 litres of water, magnesium tablets at night and a spoon of Inulin in my tea morning and night
