Does MJ interfere with HRT?

I've been on HRT pills since Feb and MJ since Aug. Current up to the 5mg dose, which is working nicely.

Periods stopped. No PMT. Great.

Until yesterday. Now having an old-style bleed with flooding and bloated stomach.

I will speak to the GP when I come back from holiday but wondered if there is a link between HRT going wonky and Mounjaro.

My GP is pretty hot on menopause and HRT. When I started on MJ, I had the Mirena. She said that would be fine with MJ.

I then switched to oral pills as the coil slipped too low in my womb, so I had light bleeding for six months. Got that removed in early March. Switched to oestrogen and progesterone pills. Had no bleeding whatsoever until the bloodbath earlier this week.

I'll speak to my GP next week. I'd prefer to stick to tablets.

I don't think gel or spray will work for me as I moisturise my skin every day {non negotiable). I'm black and If I don't do this, I'll end up with scaly crocodile skin.

You can moisturise daily with oestrogel - I do the gel at night on inner thighs and shower and moisturise in the morning.

If you had a patch, I think it would only be a small area you couldn’t moisturise and you could then put the next patch in a different area (left side, right side etc)

What about all the people who have been on MJ & HRT oral progesterone for the last few years are they not checking everyone out ? Do they know how long it could be harmful for if womb hasn’t been protected ?

@DollyPop100 if your progesterone dose is not high enough it is likely you will see signs - usually bleeding. Sometimes if you are on a low dose of estrogen the first level of progesterone dose might still be enough.

e.g. I took 100mg progesterone daily with Everol 50 and it was fine even on Mounjaro, with Everol 75 utrogestan 100mg is usually/sometimes enough, but I had some breakthrough bleeding so was upped to 200mg.

The important thing is to make sure you keep in touch with your HRT prescriber and discuss any symptoms.

@DollyPop100 the advice for me has been to double the dose of oral progesterone for a month each time the dose is changed. Not that this is needed permanently.

The womb wouldn’t be fully unprotected even without doubling, I believe. MJ reduces but doesn’t prevent absorption of oral hormones.

So update...
GP is switching me to oestrogen gel and progesterone tablets.

And I've been booked in for an ultrasound scan and hysteroscopy to make sure there's nothing abnormal happening.
