Another interesting development- I never fancied an implant for contraception due to the insertion/removal procedure , but sounds like a good choice for those who are less of a wimp than me! 🫣

That is an interesting option. It would mean that you wouldn’t have any flexibility to change doses yourself in the way that you can with injections though. I wonder how it might manage dose increases or whether it would be for maintenance rather than active weight loss.

@SilenceInside do you remember at one point Eli Lilly said there could in the future be a once a year, or one shot and done GLP1 treatment. I had the same sort of thoughts then, what it it works too well or side effects are too much, how do they reverse it.

At least with an implant they could remove it, but agree doesn’t sound practical or pleasant, will be interesting how/if it develops.

This is interesting and I would assume won’t be main stream, it says for people with chronic weight issues and to ensure adherence.

I am on the injections, now in maintenance and I take my dose religiously, always have, but I see a lot of people delaying for hols etc, or even delaying a couple of days so they can go to events, and it makes me really wonder about the pill, as I think it would be very easy to say I won’t take today’s as I’m out tonight and want to eat and drink more, or I feel very stressed and need a night off. Or even just forgetting, as some even forget the injections.

adherence I think is a key part of the success of this, and different people will need different approaches.

on your comments op about what if you had side effects etc, I assume they’d not give someone the implant until they knew they were on their optimal dose and were responding well. You’d not just shove it in there and hope for the best.

remember the methodology behind the drugs is to move up to find your optimal dose, for some that’s low, for some it’s high, everyone is different and thays no different than any other medication.

The issue with the injections is as it’s self administered and there is a cost, a lot of people work very hard to make the low doses work, or they have a fear of the medication and health anxiety so do the same. We also see a lot of placebo effects and then declarations it stopped working, or people eating unhealthy and complaining of gastro effects and coming off,

weight and weight loss, is really complex, so I think for some pills work, others injections and others again an implant will be optimal.
