Anyone else on wegovy with a BMI 26? Experiences please

I’ve struggled to lose a stone and a half for years. Every year promise myself I’ll shift it for my holiday and now I’m in the same disappointed state as previous years. I struggle with consistency and will power. I didn’t think I could have WL injections with a BMi under 27 but I followed an advert on Voy and answered the questions. Turns out I qualify for wegovy. Not sure what to do now. Is it safe? Anyone else with a bmi 26?! I’ve looked at the plans and was thinking of doing 3 months to see how I get on. Anyone else with experiences similar to mine?

I am also considering this but the pills when they come out as they seem much more convenient than taking jabs. Like you , I have been struggling to low one and a half- two stone forever. Haven’t made my mind up yet.

Icanseeasquirrel · 06/07/2026 06:06

Well that’s me but I’ve been on it since BMI of 31. Most people lose around 15% in total so should work for you.

warmdreams · 06/07/2026 06:10

I have done exactly the same as you OP. I qualify via Voy. I haven’t signed yet and have a very stubborn 1.5 stone to lose which will not come off. I have spent the last month being extremely strict with myself. Tracking at 1200/1300 calories a day, no alcohol, lost half a pound. I have autoimmune conditions and a knee injury but still.

SilenceInside · 06/07/2026 06:30

Why would it not be safe? Voy are a legitimate pharmacy and they can choose to prescribe off licence to people who don’t otherwise meet the prescribing criteria if they feel it’s appropriate. They should explain all that as part of the sign up process.

If you sign up for 3 months with Voy be aware that they have an early cancellation fee if you don’t want to continue or if you want to change to a different supplier before the last month.

@Bigminnie1 the pills seem to have more instructions about how and when to take than the injection, which is just once a week whenever you like. The pills need to be taken daily after not eating for minimum 8 hours, taken with a small amount of water and nothing else and then no other food or drink for a minimum of 30 minutes. And they’re a bit less effective.

ShishKofte · 06/07/2026 06:44

I started wegovy at BMI 25.
I've lost a stone in 3 months which is the same stone I've been trying to shift for 3+ years with a personal trainer. Id constantly lose three lb then gain it back.

I have stayed on the lowest dose and the only side effects I've had are a headache for the first 3 days of starting, my energy levels have dipped too but it coincided with going FT, so could be that too 🤣

I used med express - DM if you want a code.

thanks- yeah I think more convenient for me as I travel a lot with work and pills are easy to transport. Also, I know it’s irrational but I have real shame over taking this and it’s easier to hide. Ridiculous I know but it’s ingrained.

Can I ask what your plans are when you've finished? I have the same BMI and the same reasons as the OP and have just ordered from that exact website and am waiting for them to arrive now!

I am excited about it but also a bit worried what will happen when I stop taking them. Mine is menopause weight that ive done everything to shift but it isnt budging

Proteinpudding · 06/07/2026 08:01

I started same as you, BMI 26, with Voy in May. Signed up for 3 months as I didn't want to commit to longer in case they didn't work for me, and it meant a bit of a discount. Not much choice for shopping around starting at that weight, think it's only Voy and Medexpress.

I've lost 4kg so far, not loads but I've stayed on the lowest dose. I'm essentially trying to stick to the healthy eating I've been trying to do for the last few years, but the wegovy is just enough to help - I'm satisfied with small portions and not reaching for the chocolate quite as much.
I can tell it's working, eg feel a bit uncomfortably full on certain days, but nothing bad enough that I'd consider side effects. Before this I've lost and regained the same few pounds over and over.

If you are going to go with voy I'll have a referral code for a discount too, feel free to DM if you want it.

pinkyponkyplink · 06/07/2026 09:46

I’d love any discount code or referral code but I’ve no idea how to DM

I'm not planning to increase, I've had a good response on 0.25mg so I don't feel I need to. When I signed up I think voy and Medexpress were a similar price but I'd heard that the clinicians who assessed you on Medexpress were turning people down for being below BMI 27 even though they'd advertised 25-27. So I went with Voy and it was fine.
I'll send you a message, you should get a notification that you can reply back to If you want.

Not sure where you're posting from, I don't think reta is legally available in the UK yet. There's some black market 'research chemicals' in use in the bodybuilding community but I wouldn't go there!

Thanks yes please feel free to send me a message but I can’t find my inbox on here. The fact that med express turn people away worries me. Do you know if that is because it isn’t safe? I’m so torn about this. I’m such a worrier

My plan is to play it by ear.

I've been maintaining my weight without jabs for years without too much bother, it's whether my body will try to get back to my 'normal' or accept my new weight as the reset point.

I'm going up to 0.5 this month to try to reach goal for holiday, then I'll drop back to 0.25 for a while and then try coming off and maintaining. Like you, I am apprehensive though.

I'm not adverse to staying on the jabs if required - I have attention difficulties and it's really helped me to manage other distractions not just food. I also have stage 2 lipodema and it's really important I manage my weight to stop it progressing. For me it's worth the £100 a month to reduce the risk of mishapen, painful legs in old age.

I've messaged you, if you look for a little person symbol (on mobile it's top right of the screen) and click on it it should give you a menu, and in that, private messages. Full disclosure if you use my referral I get a discount too, but honestly no worries if not!

The ME clinicians were telling people that the criteria was 27+ at the time. No reference to safety just 'that's the rules', I think it was miscommunication between the corporate side and the actual clinical staff who do the assessments that they were broadening their criteria. There is lots of research available about these drugs, I understand your anxiety, I was the same and researched it loads before I started. My understanding (though please do your own research rather than rely on here!) is that the serious side effects are rare, but also that they're side effects of rapid weight loss, not the drugs specifically. The drugs mimic what your body already produces, just a stronger version of it. Minor side effects like constipation or nausea are more common, though I've not had any at all. Voy send some meds for those as part of their support with the first dose just in case.

They have a license so they have to be careful who they prescribe to, even within the parameters they set. If they have any suspicion someone might be lying they should refuse to protect their license and I'd hope that's the same with Voy.

I didn't lie about my weight (10'7 at 5'3 - BMI 26) and had no issue. I just had to send a photo.

I guess because my legs are big, in the short shorts I wore for the photo I definitely looked like I need to lose weight 🤣

Proteinpudding · 06/07/2026 11:46

I'll add as well, I did get quizzed quite a lot by the clinician as for voy I had to do a video consultation rather than send photos (seems to be random which they ask you for) They were friendly though and I felt it was a good thing, they asked me lots about my reasons for wanting it, my weight history, what id tried before etc and checking that I understood what 'off label' meant. I was able to ask them a few questions too which was helpful, eg about taking them alongside another medication.

How does this work with alcohol? I have a couple of weddings and a big birthday coming up

Thank you! sounds like you are very similar to me. I dont have a huge issue with my weight but since menopause my body just wont cooperate like it used to.

So interesting about the other distractions too- thats a great side effect!

Proteinpudding · 06/07/2026 19:10

@pinkyponkyplink it varies person to person I think. I'm not aware there's any specific reason to avoid alcohol on it (ie it doesn't interact) Some people, myself included, find alcohol loses its appeal - I don't feel a buzz off alcohol, would struggle to finish a drink. Some people don't find a difference.
