Comparing GLP-1 tracking apps and companion tools for weight loss treatment

I’ve been seeing more GLP-1 tracking apps and companion tools pop up, so I spent some time looking at a few of the more commonly mentioned ones.
Not medical advice, obviously. I’m not reviewing these as medical tools and I wouldn’t use any app to make decisions about dosing, side effects, or anything that should go through a prescriber. I was mostly looking at them from a practical user perspective:

  • Is it easy to use?
  • Does it help you stay organized?
  • Does it feel like something you would actually keep using?
  • Is it more of a tracker, a coach, or a dashboard?
  • Does it get annoying after the first few days?

The four I looked at were Shotsy, Grace, MeAgain, and Glapp.

1. Shotsy
This is probably the most “classic tracking app” of the group.
It’s built around logging shots, tracking dose history, weight, side effects, injection sites, and progress over time. It feels like it was made for people who like seeing everything laid out in graphs and charts.

Pros:

  • Good if you like data
  • Strong tracking features
  • Helpful for seeing patterns over time
  • Injection-site and dose-history tracking are useful
  • Feels more structured than using a notes app or spreadsheet
Cons:
  • Might be more than some people need
  • The app is mainly useful if you actually keep logging things
  • If you don’t like charts or detailed tracking, it may feel a little heavy
  • Some people may find weight/progress tracking motivating, while others may find it stressful
My take: Shotsy seems best for someone who wants a proper GLP-1 dashboard. If you want to track everything in one place and you like visual progress, this is probably the most obvious place to start. If you only want gentle reminders or light accountability, it may be more app than you need.

2. Grace (grace glp companion)
Grace is a bit different from the others because it is not really trying to be another dashboard app.
It is more of a text-message companion for people on GLP-1s. The idea is that instead of opening an app and logging a bunch of things, you get simple check-ins, nudges, and support through SMS.

Pros:

  • Very low friction
  • No full app to learn
  • Feels more personal than a dashboard
  • Better fit for people who want reminders and encouragement, not graphs
  • Good for people who already ignore most health apps after a week

Cons:

  • Not as data-heavy as something like Shotsy
  • Probably not ideal if you want detailed charts, progress photos, or advanced tracking
  • Because it is text-based, it depends a lot on whether you like that format
  • You still need a separate place if you want deep analytics

My take:
Grace is the one I’d put in the “companion” category rather than the “tracker” category.

That may actually be a good thing. A lot of health apps ask users to change their behavior around the app. Grace seems more focused on fitting into behavior people already have, which is texting.
I could see this being useful for someone who doesn’t want another complicated dashboard but does want a lightweight way to stay consistent.Great product overall. I had a positive experience.

3. MeAgain
MeAgain seems like it is going for the all-in-one GLP-1 app angle.
It includes tracking around doses, weight, side effects, food, photos, and routines. It feels broader than a basic shot tracker and more like a full lifestyle/progress app for people on GLP-1s.

Pros:

  • Covers a lot of categories
  • Good if you want one place for multiple parts of the journey
  • Progress photos and lifestyle tracking may be useful for some people
  • More polished than a simple spreadsheet-style tracker
  • Seems designed around the actual GLP-1 experience, not just generic weight tracking

Cons:

  • More features also means more things to maintain
  • Some users may not want photos, food logs, or a full progress system
  • Could feel like too much if you just want reminders
  • The broader the app gets, the more important privacy and data handling become

My take:
MeAgain seems best for someone who wants a more complete GLP-1 “journey” app, not just shot reminders.
It’s probably a better fit for people who like the idea of tracking multiple areas: doses, side effects, meals, photos, weight, and habits. If you only care about one or two of those, it may be more than necessary.

4. Glapp
Glapp feels like a more practical, utility-style tracker.
It is focused on GLP-1 tracking, logging injections, dosage, side effects, and weight. One thing I like is that it appears to support both app and browser access, which is useful for people who don’t want to be locked into one device.

Pros:

  • Straightforward GLP-1 tracking
  • Works across devices / browser
  • Good for shot logging and basic medication history
  • Less flashy than some of the more lifestyle-oriented apps
  • Useful if you want function over polish
Cons:
  • May not feel as polished or personalized as some alternatives
  • Less of a “coach” and more of a tracker
  • If you want advanced motivation, photos, or habit support, it may feel basic
  • Like all of these tools, it only works if you actually log consistently

My take:
Glapp seems like the practical option. Not necessarily the most exciting, but potentially useful if you mainly want a clean way to keep track of GLP-1-related information without turning it into a full lifestyle app.

Overall thoughts
I don’t think there is one obvious “best” GLP-1 app because they are not all trying to solve the same problem.
The way I’d break it down:

  • Shotsy: best for people who want detailed tracking and graphs
  • Grace: best for people who want low-friction text support and reminders
  • MeAgain: best for people who want a broader all-in-one GLP-1 journey app
  • Glapp: best for people who want a straightforward, practical tracker

Personally, I think the most important question is not “which app has the most features?”

It’s “which one would I still use after two weeks?”

For some people, that’s a data-heavy tracker. For others, it’s a text companion. And for some, a calendar reminder plus notes app may be enough.
The main thing I’d avoid is treating any of these like medical decision-making tools. They can help organize information, but your clinician should still be the source of truth for anything medical.
