Weight Loss Injections didn’t work for me

I lost 6 pounds in 2 months and then nothing for 6 months. Felt nauseous all the time. Has this happened to anyone else? I was on WeGovy. Has anyone got any suggestions of other WLI I could try please?

You’re not even short… you’re actually 2 inches taller than average height. I’m 5’3 and absolutely would lose weight on 1200 even now I’m 8st.

Edited

I am 5ft 4 and I wouldn't have lost anything really on 1200 cals either once I got to a lower weight, i am just over 8 stone and that's probably maintenance for me now, well officially just over 1300 so that 100cals a day deficit wouldnt do a lot, esp if any error in calculating.

TomClarkson · 23/06/2026 20:51

Not much point trying another WLI if you eating 1200 calories didn’t help you lose weight. Surely you wouldn’t want to be eating less than that?

Depends on age and height. 1200 would be just under maintenance for me at 46, 52kg and 5ft 3.

Lifeaftershit · 24/06/2026 18:38

Didn't stop my hunger /desire to eat either.
Gave up & started running and not eating. Just felt hungry all the time

If she's at the start of her weight loss journey then it's very unlikely she weighs anywhere near 52kg!

I don’t think she’s 52kg

I was BMI 28 when I started and to lose about 1.5lb a week I was on about 1300 cals, that was only for a short time, i had to reduce quite quickly

SexyFrenchDepression · 24/06/2026 18:47

RoseField1 · 24/06/2026 18:41

But if she is short even at 12 stone she wouldn't need much more than 1200 to lose a small amount. I didn't.

Cloudconfusion · 24/06/2026 18:49

Yeah if you’re not very good at counting cals by eye you need to focus, if you didn’t lose weight you were eating to maintenance, it just didn’t feel like much maybe compared to what you were used to, but it was enough to maintain your existing weight.

id try mounjaro, but you need to go on a diet. The fat doesn’t melt off.

It depends very much on activity levels and muscle. I'm 11 stone, 5 foot 4 and my TDEE is 2000 calories. I could lose weight on a lot more than 1200.

Confused

I dont get the confusion here!

I meant to say 5ft4, if I was 75kg I would need aroubd 1600 cals for maintenance so 1350 for 1lb a week loss. If OP is shorter than me then she wouldn't really lose on 1200.

Again, depends on activity levels and muscle mass. And age!

Yes exactly, that is what I am saying, people are arguing that potentially 1200 cals is hardly anything and it cant be possible to not lose weight, when thats not the case for many people.

Your activity levels must be really high, I have a very sedentary office based job, I do exercise but weight training with a team sport each week. TDEEs generally over calculate exercise cals depending on type of activity I find

Not really. I'm 45, gym twice a week and walk a bit daily. I'm just naturally fairly well muscled. I know my TDEE is accurate because I track calories having lost 3.5 stone on mounjaro.

It definitely is trial and error for many with TDEE, i am a really small build and unless I do a lot of weight training I just dont need many calories. Its really disappointing 😂

Madreamigajefa2 · 24/06/2026 19:20

I'm on wegovy and I've lost nothing either. I don't calorie count and I'm sedentary at work but it's also not really reduced my appetite.

oliviaAustin · 24/06/2026 19:30

Mysticmaiden · 23/06/2026 21:11

The absolute cheek of you...I have a very active job working upto 41hrs a week and a 3hr drive commute on top. I'm on my feet most of the day for my job in the nhs and I also do body toning classes with a muscle mass of 38% and my tdee is still currently 1450! So pipe down sunshine.

Edited

That seems highly unusual. 1400 calories is the TDEE of an active 4 to 8 year old female child or a sedentary male 4 year old. For a grown woman do have that as a TDEE when she purports to be active I’d say your calculations are likely off Unless you’re absolutely tiny.

oliviaAustin · 24/06/2026 19:38

In fact @Mysticmaidenive plugged your stats into the Henry Equation for TDEE and it’s gives yours as 2,350 a day.

MiniCoopers · 24/06/2026 19:42

Depends what weight you are now?

That’s really really unusual. To have 38 percent muscle mass you’re approaching competitive female body builder levels, and will look it, and it takes a huge amount of cals to achieve that, I don’t know how you can be at this sort of muscle mass, just doing body toning and only have a tdee of 1450

normally for an active woman of your height and weight you’d be about 2500 but for this kind of very high muscle you’d need about 4000 cals a day just to build and maintain that,

copperbeechtrees · 24/06/2026 23:00

So I weigh 11 stone. When I put my stats in a tdee calculator it says 1874! What am I doing wrong?

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoByAgain · 24/06/2026 23:18

OP it’s totally different ball game for us with hypothyroidism. Calories are meaningless for us … try Mounjaro, it’s the only thing that worked for me.

If that is accurate then at 1200 cals you should be losing 2lb a week ish. The calculators really overestimate the additional calories for exercise i find, are you weighing and logging everything? Also do you track macros? I lose a lot more when I eat more protein and less carbs than the same calories but a higher carb diet.

If so then the WLIs are kind of irrelevant as on those calories you would be losing anyway, but it is reported that MJ is generally a better drug. However if everything is accurate and you are religiously calorie counting then I would definitely see the doctor before starting something different.
