I am not on weight loss injections yet but hope to be soon. I am a bit fussy, I don't like fish or eggs or anything too spicy. I have a mild lactose intolerance so can have a little but can't have anything swimming in milk/cheese/butter and avoid cream like the plague. I don't like to cook, will often have couple of microwave meals a week usually spagbol avd i love takeaways and junk food but I am unsure what I will be able/allowed to eat while on injections. Can anyone help me, with their diet plans?

There's lots of advice available online, with a quick internet search eg

I try to eat around 30g of fibre and 100g of protein per day, while a avoiding really high levels of fat and big portions of calorie dense foods.

In practise, this means eating a lot of yogurt, fruit (especially berries and kiwi fruit), chicken, beans, fish and veg, and eating less (but not none) of alcohol, bread and pasta and beetroot calorie dense food..

I have no idea where that rogue beetroot came from!

The type of diet you have now is what got a lot of us into the situation we now need support from medications. Food designed to keep you come back and craving more of the same foods, food that doesn’t satisfy for long.

Continuing to eat that way will not give yourself the best chance of success. I found Mounjaro helped change my tastes and mindset towards food, so try to be inquisitive about foods and flavours again as yours, might change too,

I rarely ate fish before Mounjaro (chip shop doesn’t count!). Now my tastes have changed and I look forward to fish at least twice a week - cod loin, salmon, trout, smoked mackerel all of which were never on the menu before. Mid week meals now tend to be something like a large cod loin baked with cheese sauce and breadcrumbs (mornay) or two salmon fillets with a marinade or chicken breast marinaded all with a huge plate of mixed veg, or mixed salad

The big differences from before are a focus on protein, low carb - rarely chips, occasionally pasta, sometimes rice, minimise UPF, and lots of veg/salad daily. I eat simply, such as grilled chicken with a marinade and enjoy it.

i still enjoy a takeaway, but make better choices and it still fitted in my calorie deficit while I was on weight loss.

I was trying to work out what what wrong with beetroot 🤣🤣🤣

From a weight loss perspective it doesn’t much matter what you eat as long as it is in calorie deficit.
I eat the same foods I have always eaten, just in smaller quantity.
Lost 8 stones, partly on my own and partly with the aid of mounjaro.

Yes, I never ate eggs before, now I have them all the time. And I can’t stand anything that you can taste the fat in, and never fancy sugary things.

I’ve gone completely off fried food, cake, sugary stuff, take aways etc. I eat a lot of chicken salad. I do still love a biscuit, though.

Valeee9 · 19/06/2026 20:41

I was quite a fussy eater before starting as well, so I kept things really simple. Smaller portions of foods I already liked, a bit more protein where I could, and I still had the odd microwave meal when life got busy. I found it was more about eating less and listening to when I was full than following a perfect diet.
