Has anyone been offered the new Wegovy pills? Does anyone know how much they will cost? Would you switch?

They were only approved yesterday, it will be a few weeks before a supply chain is established and pharmacies have these available. I'd be surprised if they were noticeably cheaper than the injections, as Novo Nordisk won't want to drop the market out of their own injection brand.

I'm on Mounjaro and wouldn't switch to Wegovy in either injection or pill form unless I had serious financial issues and couldn't manage to stretch to Mounjaro prices.

Look on Reddit. They’ve been available for a while in America and there’s lots of threads about them.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/06/2026 11:43

Just looked it up and you have to take them 8 hours after food and then 30 minutes before eating again. Thats going to be an issue as I don’t have time in the morning for that! But hopefully it’s cheaper than the jabs.

RenegadeKeeblerElf · 12/06/2026 11:51

I agree with SilenceInside, I can't see them being noticeably cheaper unless they are also less effective or less desirable in another way, otherwise there would be no point carrying on manufacturing the injections as everyone would swap to tablets. The cheaper manufacturing cost will just be extra profit, not passed on.

I think I prefer one injection a week, which is a tiny painless needle and takes a few moments to do, over taking a daily pill and remembering the rules about timing, eating, drinking and other tablets.

It might appeal to new starters, who haven't done injections before, if they find that prospect to be too much to contemplate.

Me too, but if there was a significant price difference, I'm not sure that alone would be enough to keep me on the injections rather than swap to pills, and definitely not if I was a new user.

Yes I noticed that part too. I've been waiting for these as I have a needle phobia but now I'm a bit 😬

Megsdaughter · 12/06/2026 13:14

Umm was thinking if trying them as have been on Wegovey Injections for 8 months, but not sure now with the timings. I do 16/8 intermittant fasting. So I dont eat after 8 in the evening, so would need to take one at 5 in the morning !
Might just stick to the Injections unless a lot cheaper.

SuitcaseAndSecrets · 12/06/2026 14:28

No .
I'm waiting for Reta.
Hopefully won't be long.
My daughter is trialing at the moment and fantastic results... less side effects.

I’m confused - say you get up at 6.30am would you not pop one immediately and just then have breakfast 30 mins later? You could shower in meantime if timing is an issue?

But it does not need to be exactly 8 hours after food; it just requires a minimum of 8 hours of fasting beforehand. So you’d be fine wouldn’t you?

Toddlerteaplease · 13/06/2026 14:06

@Namechangeforthisdilemma1no, I’m working, I’m up, showered, breakfasts and cat fed in 45 minutes flat. I suppose 20 minutes would probably be ok though and it wouldn’t be every day. I don’t eat after about 6.30 so that’s not an issueZ

PippingPop · 13/06/2026 20:29

I’d much prefer a tablet. Less faff. Less side effects too I presume! As the dosage remains more stable.

PS. Does anyone know if there is a Mounjaro tablet being developed?

SilenceInside · 13/06/2026 20:35

@PippingPopside effects are similar apparently. There is no tablet version of Mounjaro being developed. Eli Lilly’s tablet is a different GLP1 called orforglipron (branded as Foundayo).

I meant less side effects as I would assume less peaks and troughs for a daily tablet. But thanks re. Mounjaro info.

SilenceInside · 13/06/2026 23:08

This is quite a good summary comparison of the side effects of the tablet versus the injection. They are broadly similar in terms of frequency as well as type.

I’ve been on the tablets for 4+ months. The taking it at least 30 mins before food etc soon becomes second nature. I’ve had some gastric side effects but have tolerated it overall very well. The appetite suppression started on day 1. I did 3 months on 1.5mg and then moved up to 4mg but you can move up after a month if you like. There are 9mg and 25mg doses available too. For me, I was having to force myself to eat so didn’t want to make it any more difficult to get nutrition. I will stay on 4mg for at least another month.

I love life on a GLP-1. My bloodwork has never been better and I am thoroughly enjoying the absence of food noise. I have lost weight but that is no longer my primary reason for being on it- my inflammation has all but disappeared. My mild but annoying psoriasis has disappeared after decades. I intend to be on at least a micro dose for life.

FreddysFingers · 14/06/2026 07:43

I filled out a consultation on 'Simple Pharmacy' as I'm currently on the jabs, but was interested to see whether the pills would be any cheaper. They've come out as £140 with discount for the 25mg pill (I'm currently on Wegovy injection 7.2mg), first purchase only, and £170 usual price. I'm going to stick to the jabs, as I currently pay £202 with Medicine Marketplace, so the discount isn't significant. I am doing well, and I don't want to risk upsetting my progress for the sake of £30 odd. If they'd have been something like £100 -£150, it may have swayed me a bit. Following, as would like to hear about people's experiences with the pills 🙏.

3smallpups · 14/06/2026 07:54

@Beekmanthats really interesting about the psoriasis . I’ve just preordered the pills. Have a small amount of annoying post menopausal weight that I have been struggling to shift and need some help. Would be great if it also shifts my own mild but annoying psoriasis !

ICanStillSayIDontRemember · 14/06/2026 08:06

@3smallpups where did you preorder them from please?

Wondering if someone with no gallbladder would be able to try these.

Can I ask if you have experienced a decrease in your desire to drink alcohol (if you previously drank)? I have read that’s a side effect of the WLIs and wondered if people find the same for the tablets?
