What electrolytes are you taking?

Do you use tablets / sachets? Any recommended brands and flavours please? Looking at sachet boxes on Amazon to maybe have a try of a few before deciding what I like so any recommendations would be appreciated!

Why do you need them and why are you asking in this category?

durdledoris · 09/06/2026 21:16

I had a sickness bug last week so have bought some off Amazon and just have one a day

I didnt know that

Why?

DysonHoover · 09/06/2026 21:24

Vidrate are the best by far. I've tried about 10 different brands

DysonHoover · 09/06/2026 21:24

Although not tried liquid IV!

Firesidechatter · 09/06/2026 21:26

Doctors don’t recommend you take electrolytes with injections, that’s nonsense. It’s the opposite, it’s a terrible social media myth that can lead to dangerous levels of potassium etc in people’s systems.

they should only be used if you’re heavily sweating, unwell ie sickness/the runs, dehydrated from a hangover etc. not as just regular use. People should use them sparingly. And simply drink their water daily.

MeridaBrave · 09/06/2026 21:39

Really not necessary to take. Which doctors exactly are saying this?

I would be interested to know why or where this came from?

The reason Im so surprised at people saying this is that I had gastric surgery which obviously results in you eating far far far less than anyone on WLI would and there was absolutely no need whatsoever to take electrolytes.

I think it’s some mad social media thing, it is crazy and so dangerous for health as well. I can’t beleive someone even wrote doctors recommend it, no they don’t, it’s the total opposite.

It wasn't me that said that but a gastro surgeon recommended I take them because I have an issue with being constantly thirsty and drinking a lot of water. Actually nothing to do with weight loss, this thread just came up on my active threads.

Stand by what I said though, vidrate are the best and they do actually help my thirst

I can’t remember what the brand is but B&M sell big tubs for a tenner and they’re perfectly good.

MoneyJo · 09/06/2026 22:29

I pop one of these in a bottle of water each morning. My favourite flavour is the tropical one.

Just do whatever suits you folks.

Here are just some of the many links out there from GLP-1 providers recommending electrolytes. We’re all grown ups here, if in doubt or worried check with your doctor.

So I am taking creatine which also pulls water into the muscle and I have no issue staying hydrated. I’m not having stomach issues either - I can see why they might be helpful for someone who is.

These links aren’t doctor recommendations though, all from weight loss pharmacies. I’d read it as - if having diahorea or vomitting it’s a good idea to take them.

Coconut water.

Gardengargoyle · 10/06/2026 19:32

If I'd had bad food poisoning and felt the need for electrolytes I would mix half a teaspoon of salt and a tablespoon of sugar into a litre of water and drink that. I wouldn't waste money buying sachets online.

I've lost 97kg so far and managed to stay well hydrated drinking kombucha, coffee, tomato juice, water, black tea, purple tea, green tea, oolong tea, mint tea and chamomile tea.

FairPlay to you. Am sure all of that wasn’t cheap so as I’ve said already, everyone suit themselves!

Gardengargoyle · 15/06/2026 15:22

I make my own kombucha, it costs me 300g of sugar and 12 black tea bags every 10 days, to start a new batch that will fill 6 half litre bottles. Much cheaper than the stuff you can buy in the shops, and no weird sweeteners or flavourings.
