Is hair loss inevitable with Mounjaro?

How common is hair loss with Mounjaro/other weight loss injections? Is it inevitable or do some people avoid it? I'm quite keen to try it as I need to get my weight down but I know I won't eat mindfully without some help. I have two under three and I'm exhausted. Really keen to hear other posters' experiences, good and bad!

Thank you :)

Hair loss in this case is related to sudden and drastic weight loss. It stresses the body out. If you eat sensibly you’ll be fine

I have very thin hair already, and I'm losing loads. Feel positively bald in places, especially at my crown. Started on Wegovy a year ago, now on MJ.

I haven’t had. So it’s not certain. I ate a lot of protein and lost quite slowly though.

My weight loss was slow but steady with Mounjaro. I took it for 4 months and lost 2 stones. I did experience hair loss though, and that's what made me stop taking it.

No, my hair looks thicker than ever

I’ve been on MJ for 18 months and lost 4 stone in about 12 months which was averaged about 1 lb a week. I did it slowly and steadily, most of that on 5mg, eating really well the whole time with plenty of protein and fibre. I had no hair loss until about 5 months ago and I’ve lost loads.

My hair is noticeably thinner than before and I hate it. It hasn’t stabilised or started growing back and I’m still on MJ. I’ll be interested to see if it grows back as I reduce my dose.

My daughter had really thick hair and she’s lost 3 stone slowly in a year and her hair is clogging up the drain. She commented on it the other day.

I believe it is the MJ and not fast weight loss.

I don’t see the benefit of being on MJ if it’s a 1 lb weight loss a week. 2 lb a week is perfectly achievable on a low calorie diet without hair loss.

If it was “perfectly achievable” I’m sure many would have succeeded before now.

Well in that case I’m not sure why anyone would take it, if it’s that easy to lose 2lb a week without the cost…

So pleased for you that you were able to do it on your own without help - clever you. Why did I not think of just doing it on my own. 😂 I needed the support for long term, consistent weight loss. And notice I said ‘average’!

I was more than happy thankyou with my slower loss. During that time I built substantial muscle, and played competitive sport twice a week. Starving myself to lose weight too fast was not of interest to me. Was interested in getting to my target in a healthy way. I enjoyed birthdays out and fuelled my body for sport, not once was I unable to eat or losing muscle.

You do you!
