Travel insurance cover for privately prescribed weight loss injections

Has anyone gotten insurance to travel that’s covered them for “cosmetic use”. In other words not prescribed by the GP according to my insurance.

I get my mounjaro through Chemist 4U. A consultation every time. I’m in maintenance now.

My insurer won’t accept obesity because I never had a formal diagnosis of it, that would be on my medical records.

any advice appreciated

thank you!

I told my insurance company last year and they told me it was fine and it didn’t impact the policy in any way. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a doctor formally diagnose me with obesity, I have eyes and a set of scales

Can I ask who you’re insured with?

thanks!

I have a policy through my nationwide flexplus account (£18/month account fee) and it was covered without any extra premium.

I just got travel insurance and declared Wegovy (prescribed through an online pharmacy and I’m not overweight), it wasn’t an issue. I just had to put in my height/weight.

Same here, no problems with insurer, included with no additional premium.
Not formally “diagnosed” with obesity - but it’s factual - it’s my height Vs my current weight.

I insure with Tescos. I told them, and they said I didn't need to declare them.

I got insured last year with Aviva. I have an annual policy and just called them up. They asked for my height and weight, and added weight loss injections to my policy. No increase in my premium.

I had to call my annual travel insurance company, which is Saga, about something else, and spoke to someone who was on Wegovy herself. She said it was not an issue.
