I wonder if they will be cheaper. They are less effective than the injections so maybe that will be a factor in the price. But I can’t see them being a lot cheaper as then people would drop the injections and move over en masse and sales of injections would tank.

lilibetspet · 03/06/2026 10:50

I’m sticking with MJ until we have some good data reported with these pills. After losing 9 stone, still got 1/2 to go I don’t want to do anything that might rock any boats.

Belindabelle · 03/06/2026 10:51

I think they will be cheaper as the delivery system of the injections adds to the price. Also having to keep the product refrigerated increases transport and manufacturing costs.
I hope they will be cheaper!

Belindabelle · 03/06/2026 10:52

I wonder if the pills will come in different strength?

monicagellerbing · 03/06/2026 10:53

There are already pills available, Rybelsus. I took these before starting MJ and they did nothing for me

These are not rybelsus. Or even close, rybelsus has very modest weight loss, 3-6 percent, these are double to triple that. These are a whole different animal.

Yes they come in a starting dose and increase like the injection.

‘I’m also sticking with mounjaro for at least 6 months, and will take the time to see what the USA folks say, as they went first.

If these are like £50-£75 cheap I would be tempted to move from mounjaro - but if still over £100 I would try wegovy injections first

I would be very tempted, but only if they're significantly cheaper. I wonder too if side effects will be worse, gastro wise

HappyWineDay · 03/06/2026 12:23

They are an appealing option for maintaining once at goal. I would find a tablet a more appealing option for long term use. Especially if they're more cost effective.

AlexaStopAlexaNo · 03/06/2026 12:45

Foundayo hasn’t even been approved by NICE yet.

SilenceInside · 03/06/2026 12:49

The pharmacies are operating waiting lists to let people know as soon as the MHRA has approved Foundayo and the Wegovy tablet. If you look at, for example, the Cloud pharmacy page about these tablets it explains that they are still waiting for approval but as soon as they are approved and a supply chain established then they will start to ship them.

NICE is only relevant for NHS prescribing, as far as I am aware.

Oh good point about possible gastric problems, I already suffer from IBS.

I was looking forward to tablets as well 🙁

This is my way of thinking, too. Would stick with Mounjaro for now, but with an eye on switching to these when I get to goal weight.

Binus · 03/06/2026 15:42

Very interesting. I'm at maintenance and might consider them for convenience.

You can already buy these from Indian pharmacies Abdullah get them shipped into the uk and they are NOT cheaper than the injections. Semaglutide in injection form is £26 -32 a month for the starter dose but the daily pill is £70-85 a month.

SilenceInside · 03/06/2026 16:03

@CantMakerHerThink I didn’t think that Foundayo was available anywhere other than the US at the moment?

They are cheaper in the USA than the injections, I can’t talk about buying in India and shipping to the uk but could guess why they charge highly for that.

i do think they will be cheaper but it won’t be huge.

Presumably it’s also not legal to ship prescription only medication into the UK that hasn’t yet been approved by the MHRA?

No it’s illegal, so I habe no idea why the poster is thinking the fact they charge more for you to buy illegally is a sign of the manufacturers pricing policy, it’s not it’s the policy of the illegal sellers.

factuallh it is cheaper in the USA. But not much.and only at the lower doses.

According to chat GBT this is the predicted price, so the same as MJ

StripeyKnickersSpottySocks · 03/06/2026 16:30

Wegovy injections didn’t work for me at all so I’m assuming the tablets won’t.

mounjaro worked for a bit but then stopped losing. Carried on maintaining but couldn’t justify the price increases and loss of golden dose was the final straw

have just started retatrutide injections so hoping they work better.

SilenceInside · 03/06/2026 16:32

It’s worth staying that Retatrutide is not approved by the MHRA in the UK either, so anyone using it that isn’t on an official clinical trial is getting it from black market sources which could be anything in a vial, and obviously unsafe.
