Is this normal? (Alcohol)

I started MJ recently (2.5mg) - I’ve had no side effects and strong suppression (I can eat but I’d equally I’d happily not bother were it not for the fact that I know that’s not healthy).

I had a couple of glasses of wine last night and I felt sooooo sick overnight 🤢. I wasn’t actually sick but I felt like I was close. It’s not a big deal for me to not drink but I wondered if others experienced the same?

I've read that some prescriber's think a GLP1 should be used to treat addiction, alcohol being one, as it affects the reward system in the brain.

That's interesting. I'm certainly not rushing back for another glass anytime soon, that's for sure. I also wasn't too bothered about having it in the first place; I am noticeably less interested in drinking than normal so I can well imagine it'd be great for people with alcohol addiction if they respond like me

Yes. Most people feel like death with alcohol + MJ. Makes sense because you’re plumbing yourself with calories, sugar and ethanol while stressing the same systems with the MJ (the gut, blood sugar regulation and hydration). The alcohol effects stack on top of the MJ effects worsening them.

Combining the two also increases your risk of pancreatitis.

Most of the people I know who are, pretty much, alcoholics are still able to drink a lot on MJ too. In fact they often save food calories and use it on drink.

Ah - that's interesting... makes sense I guess.

It won't do my any harm to be teetotal for a while!

I am on Wegovy and find alcohol makes my stomach feel acidic. If I do have a glass of wine I need to sip it slowly.

Do you find you fancy a drink less than before you were on Wegovy?

Like much of the reporting around GLP1 it's definitely not a "one size fits all" medication that's for sure.

Interestingly, if I have any alcohol at all, even just 1 drink, I can kiss goodbye to any movement on the scale that week. Luckily I didn't drink much before MJ and its a rarity now.

Yes, I can’t drink much at all. Feel ghastly. Especially red wine.
