Anyone else find Wegovy injections sting more than Mounjaro?

I started Mounjaro in Feb 2025 after my weight loss started slowing down after I'd lost 1stone 10lb on the Slimming World plan.

Not once whatever the dosage did I ever struggle with giving myself the weekly injections with Mounjaro, in fact I was so surprised I couldn't feel the needle it was a pleasure to do. I worked up to 10mg over this time period. I rarely had a bruise.

I came off Mounjaro in Sept 25 due to the price hike, and started taking Wegovy at 2.4mg which was the equivalent dosage and which I still take. However from the very first time of taking Wegovy I noticed the injections hurting; when the needle was placed as well as during and after the injection, a stinging burning sensation which I never got with Mounjaro. A few hours later the area would itch and be sore if I rubbed it. I've just done it again and sat here stinging. I also bruise at least twice a month. I use the same technique to inject, squeeze fat pad, one week left side of belly button, next week other side. I am not tense or scared, but it does make mrme question why.

This morning I've lost 2lb at my Slimming World weigh in, I've lost about 5lbs in the past month. A total of 3st 11lbs all together, 1lb off my target weight although I want to lose another stone to bring me down to 14.5 stone.

Does anyone else find the injections problematic? I can't understand why this is happening to me.

This is normal injection site reaction, many people get it, it’s not the drug, it’s the needle, even if you stayed on mj you’d have got it. The good news is it does stop after several months,

But like I said I took Mounjaro for 7 months and not once did I sting or burn and very rarely bruised. But every time since starting Wegovy. Surely its the same gauge needle? I'd had 3 months of 10mg on Mounjaro and never had an issue. If Wegovy 2.4mg is the equivalent the surely the needle size is the same?

How hard are you pressing? You don’t need to be pushing the pens into yourself. I’ve never had a bruise from any injectable. Stinging, yes, bruising no.

The same force as always. Never changed my methodology. Its really weird.

I've got a decent pain threshold, don't mind needles, used to give blood as I'm actually quite a rare blood type, but I am delaying taking WL injections because I find it so unpleasant now.

Have you changed providers? Is it different needles? I’m considering shifting, are there any other side effects you are finding from the switch?

Op, honestly it’s completely normal . I have been on mounjaro since the start, about 4 or 5 months in I started getting reactions, itching, raised red bits, bruising etc, and it stopped after I think another 6 months, with a tail down from about 3 months.

my husband is also on mj, he also got it, his was less severe than mine, but little red bits and thumb print bruising, mine were more like yours.

Always been with Med Express as they're so reliable and quite often I receive delivery with 24 hours of ordering.

I've had more headaches but I'm a bit of a nightmare at drinking enough fluids so it could be that.
