I lost 6 stone over 2years. Half n half between diet and mounjaro.

Stopped mounjaro last september cause of price increase not quite at goal weight (Wanted to lose another stone)

Maintained till December and Christmas happened, and just been on a downward spiral. I've gained 1 and 1/2 stone. Feel fat again. Sun is shining and I want to cover up.

Tried wegovy (I qualify due to high BP) and I swear that made me worse. Was taking it over easter and had zero effect. Was on second dose but stopped.

Took starting dose of mounjaro yesterday but I'm so worried it's not gona work as I was all way up at 15mg. 😭😭

I know Its my fault but honestly feel so shit about it.

As a side, anyone been similar situation with starting and stopping mounjaro? How was it?

Don’t give yourself a hard time. MJ is giving us something our bodies are missing. Glad you are back on it and I hope you won’t need much to keep you ticking over. Good luck.

devonsevon11 · 24/04/2026 18:00

I think weight gain is to be expected when stopping weight loss injections.

I don’t think gaining back 1.5 stone from a loss of 6 is disastrous.

Just pick yourself up and try again.

Disgusted85 · 24/04/2026 18:07

I know it's my fault, it's ultimately the decisions I'm making, nothing else. Just so depressing. My whole life has been ruled by food. I miss mounjaro and just not being bothered by food and not constantly thinking about it

Don't beat yourself up you've lost the weight once you can do it again and you're still 4 1/2 stone lighter than you were that's an amazing achievement!!

putthehamsterbackinitscage · 24/04/2026 18:16

Don’t go beating yourself up. Assuming you can afford to go up the doses and you’ve had come back on 2.5, can you order after 2-3 weeks? And do that at 5? If you can and it’s affordable, thinks about whether jabbing every 5 days might be better in terms of consistent levels and progress through doses.

You have experience of jabs and side effects so you could try shorter intervals and see how that works. It may take a while to reach an effective dose but you will get there. Think positively about it, aim for high protein, high fibre etc and tell yourself it will work eventually, might just take a few weeks…,

Thanks. I can't justify the prices of 15mg so I'm really hoping I can stay on a low dose... Been trying to find other people's experiences of restarting to find out.

I’m on a maintenance plan now so only order every couple of months or so. Is this something you could think about when back to where you want to be? I would pile it back on without the injections, I’ve yo yo’d my whole life and doubt anything will ever change but with having the back up of WLI I’m managing to pretty much maintain within 5lbs of my target.

Backawayfromthesausage · 25/04/2026 07:24

It’s not about fault, 80 percent pf people who diet regain, it’s a rebound disease and very difficult for most people to maintain weight loss over a long period.

id ask why did you go up to 15. Did the drugs not work, or did you rely on them to do the heavy lifting for you? As what’s important is not just getting the weight back off, assuming that’s what you want, but thinking of a maintenance strategy.

there will always be a life event, Christmas, birthdays, holiday, stress, happiness, that will trigger and once the novelty of maintaning and the focus wears off, then you know you’re in one of the vast majority who will regain. No judgment here, me too.

so for me I’m staying on a 5mg maintenance dose. I would advise trying to ensure you use as much will power as possible and try to stay on lower doses, and then think through your maintenance strategy,

the good news is you can restart up to a year later with most pharmacies, as long as you can evidence you were on gnem. And you don’t need health conditions or to be overweight again. So maybe your maintenance strategy is you find it goes up half a stone, you buy a pen, but thay will rely on you being able to make it work at a lower doses.

Marylou2 · 25/04/2026 07:58

Understand completely OP. I've dieted and regained my whole life. Currently in maintenance on mounjaro. You'll soon be back there too. I think in the interim you need to reframe as 4.5 stone down rather than 1.5 stone up. Mounjaro, as you know, is about so much more than weight loss. The incredible freedom that comes from the lack of food noise has been the best part for me, followed by the reduction in inflammation. I'm currently taking 5mg every 10 days which seems to be the sweet spot

Disturbia81 · 25/04/2026 10:23

Don’t let yourself get into the negative spiral of thinking you are fat again from that gain, and then thinking what’s the point. You are still 4.5 stone down! The half stone will come off before you know it and then just the stone to deal with. You can do this, it’s only April and there’s still plenty of summer to enjoy.

susiedaisy1912 · 25/04/2026 10:32

Give yourself a break. You have done exceptionally well on MJ there’s no reason why you can’t do it again. Start on 2.5mg get a fitness routine in place and get back into it.

Rainydays26 · 25/04/2026 11:40

@Disgusted85
Please don't beat yourself up. Its so hard to loose weight you had tools to help you then they vanished. Every body is different and we struggle in different ways. Weather thats emotionally/mentally. Hormonal. Etc.

Look into mysimba. It does say not to take if you have abnormally high blood pressure that isn't controlled by medication. So if you can take medication it may be ok?

If blood pressure can be sorted and your able to use mysimba. It would cost you upto 100 a month thats on the highest dose.

I have lost 4 stone so far. I had wanted to use injections but theres no hope of me ever affording it. I found my simba a good alternative.

Thanks everyone. Im just so angry with myself. I swore I wouldn't go the same way, now I'm 1 1/2 stone heavier.

My new clothes are feeling so tight and small.

Im feeling uncomfortable in my body in general. Can feel where all the weight has went.

I honestly feel like an addict sometimes cause if there's any chocolate or sweet stuff in the house I need to eat it. All of it.

OP posts:
CrazyGoatLady · Yesterday 02:26

@Disgusted85 I'm honestly the same. I can't have it in the house. I can't binge eat in the same way as I used to pre-MJ, even when not using it, but it's like my brain is just wired to overeat on it.

I don't like a lot of puddings, cakes etc but chocolate and sweets are kryptonite. I just can't buy them. It helps that DS2 is a health freak with being into performance sport, but DS1 and DH both like junk food and worse, can eat it and not gain weight. Very unfair!

Use the MJ to help you reset. Focus on protein and fibre, if you can incorporate strength training building muscle will help with body composition, not just scale weight. Plenty of water, don't let yourself get dehydrated as that is likely to make cravings worse. You've got this!

But it’s ok, these medications now exist as a tool to help you.

you can come off and maintain without.
you can come off and find you start to regain weight, and buy some more pens to go back to where you wish, and then maintain again without
you can stay on a maintenance dose.

it’s whatever works for you,

next time though, if you come off again, I’d not let it get to a stone and a half, I’d knock it back after half a stone, one pen should do it, and go on a diet when you get the pen . With the pen as a tool to help you.

as said, 80 percent of people regain after dieting. Losing the weight with the help of the medication doesn’t change that. The drugs don’t work when we don’t take them, we just are like anyone else who stops dieting.

people who are jealous of those on the drugs make out it’s some big new phenomenon to regain. It’s not. It’s completely normal. Obesity is a rebound disease.

but now you’ve choices. So you tried, you regained 20 percent, so you will take the meds again to lose it and then decide how to maintain. Yoire not some anomaly, you’re totally normal.
