Weight lose is to slow. Feels hopeless.

I know this isn't logic. And probably sounds stupid . This is about my personal self not aimed at others.

It took me 3 months to loose 3 stone.
But now everything has just kind of stopped its taken me from 16th February to 21 of April to loose a stone. I know things slow down but it feels hopeless. I can't go any lower with calories

Im not on injections.

How much do you have to lose?

It sounds pretty quick to me. I only had two stone or so to lose but it took me six months.

VividDeer · 24/04/2026 12:02

Wow. How much quicker do you think you could do it?
Is this post for real.
If it is well done anyway

FallenNight · 24/04/2026 12:02

Took me a year to loose half a stone.

So well done 😀

SilenceInside · 24/04/2026 12:19

Your rate of loss between the Feb and April dates is an average of 1.5 lbs per week which is a sensible and pretty decent rate of loss. I am not sure why it's so disappointed you?

Weight loss at the start of a diet is typically quicker than later on, simply because when you are heavier it is easier to create a large calorie deficit, and as you lose weight that deficit become smaller and weight loss slows. You will also lose water weight and glycogen stores at the start too.

Instead of decreasing calories you could look at increasing movement and maybe add/increase strength exercises or similar, if that's possible for you.

PivotPivotmakingmargaritas · 24/04/2026 12:20

3 stone in 3 months without injections is amazing!!! Your body may be fearing it’s in starvation mode so holding on to all the calories it can get.

All you can do is protein, calories and weightlifting but it sounds life you have done amazing.

Yeah i could try and increase movement. I'm pretty lazy when it comes to moving.

A stone a month is fast weight loss. You should be aiming for no more than 8 pounds a month. What is your BMI now?

SilenceInside · 24/04/2026 12:40

I've been losing weight for about 21 months now, it's inevitable at some points in a fairly long process to get fed up and a bit meh about everything. What I realised and still find myself thinking about, is that this isn't a short term fix and then a return to the previous "normal" behaviour. I have to learn to lean in to the fact that this is permanent and the "new normal". There is no end point to get to.

If it's hard to create a calorie deficit, then weight loss will inevitably be slower. It will still happen if you are consistent, but just smaller amounts. Having said that, if you keep losing at 1 to 1.5lbs a week you will still have lost another stone by July.

Don't people loose more than that on injections.?

Bmi 22.6 that's a guide though isn't it? Bmi doesn't know where fat sits. What's fat whats muscle whats water

OP posts:
SilenceInside · 24/04/2026 12:48

BMI is a guide, and at 22.6 that indicates that you are not overweight and are in the middle of the healthy range.

Another measure you can use is waist to height ratio, eg https://www.nhs.uk/health-assessment-tools/calculate-your-waist-to-height-ratio

If your waist to height is in the "increased risk" category then you might want to try losing a little bit more weight until you're in the lower risk category.

What you're talking about in terms of muscle, fat etc is body composition, which can be changed and improved by exercise, particularly weight training type exercise as well as cardio.

I think that's wgat it is. Just fed up. Tje speed has slowed and it feels a bit boring I guess. Definitely a new normal maybe i might feel better if I buy something new to wear 😅

I can't make calories lower. I think i just need to get moving.

They can but it still isn’t sensible and you risk muscle loss, saggy skins and deficiencies. I spent over a year losing 5 stone.

rainbowunicorn · 24/04/2026 14:49

You have lost 1.5lb a week. Since 16th Feb. That is within the rate that you should aim for to ensure safe weight loss, preserving muscle and bone health. I dont know why you think thats not a decent amount. You were probably losing it too fast before as you should aim for a maximum loss of 2lb a week.

neilshair · 24/04/2026 15:15

It’s sounds completely normal and losing 3 stone in 3 months is really fast. The slower the better in terms of sustainability.

I have taken since the beginning of the year to lose a stone. It was my 9th stone, I am on WLI and the day loses in the early weeks were scary tbh. I’m happy with the rate especially now but I do have another couple of stone to go - I will be delighted if I get at least one of them this year.

I think it was fast because it was the start. I guess. Logically I know it slows.

Well done on your weight loose 💐

You were overweight and now you aren’t. Of course your rate of loss has slowed.

Now you are a healthy weight. You don’t need to lose more.

You could focus on eating a good range of nutrients and doing strength training if you want to improve your health even more.

Disturbia81 · 25/04/2026 10:17

You look fantastic! Weight loss does get tedious when the losses slow because it kinda feels like there is no pleasure from unhealthy food anymore and no pleasure from seeing the weight drop off.
But you have to reframe your mindset. This is just life now, not a temporary period of time. Keep doing what you’re doing, time passes fast and suddenly you’ll be at target. If it feels boring then add some new healthy meals to your week or new exercise.

I do still need to choose a bit. My waist is quite thick but yeah its towards the weight lose ending.

Yes very true . I think im a bit bored. And the feek good reward for loosing is less than it used to be. So like you say add something to give that feel good feeling. Something to aim for.

Thank you 😊

First, adding to the 'well done' chorus - you look awesome.

I really relate to your post - I've also lost a fair bit quite quickly and have found myself losing heart since the rate slowed down. I've been sticking with it though. Will share two bits of advice based on my experience in case it's ever helpful (although appreciate your situation might be pretty different).

  1. It helps me to make sure I have some nice treats planned each week and at least some food to actually look forward too. Eating healthily all the time IS boring (or at least it is for me!), and at first I tended to rely too much on the same meals over and over. That was ok when I had regular dopamine hits from big losses, but started to get stale when my loss rate slowed down. I've found that I can still have the odd takeaway, meal out and dessert without compromising my weight loss, especially if I make some simple changes to old habits (eg have a takeaway curry but make my own healthier rice to have with it and eat the portion over 2 days). The way I've come to see it, there's no point in losing weight if I'm going to end up with a diet and lifestyle I can't or don't want to sustain longer-term. (I've found Slimming World a good approach for the emphasis on sustainability as I've moved into this more 'slow and steady' phase).
  2. The biggest thing for me has been re-evaluating what I actually want and expect from losing weight. At first I think I convinced myself that being the size I used to be when younger would somehow solve all my problems in life and automatically make me feel amazing. That was a pretty ludicrous idea given that a) My body won't look the same as before even if I get down to that former size, and b) I wasn't even that happy and confident even when I used to be smaller. It's so easy to make weight seem to represent your worth somehow and to exaggerate how much a slimmer body can give us. I realised I had to make more effort to enjoy the slimmer body I was getting rather than assuming it would make me feel good (for me getting some good deals on Vinted helped me to start looking forward to getting dressed again without breaking the bank). I also realised I needed to make sure I was taking care of some of the other things that were making life feel a bit unfulfilling and stopping me from feeling good about myself (in my case this was having neglected my social life; needing to work on my connection with my DH; a new challenge at work; less brutal self-judgement for all the things about me that still aren't perfect at any size!).

I still have some way to go before reaching my own ideal weight but keeping the faith and feeling better in myself now, whilst before I was over-relying on the scales to deliver me joy each week!

Wish you all the best with your journey too.

Thankyou. I still want to loose some more. Like you I'm not at the goal I want.

I try and have a food type treat now and then. If its take away its Indian and I have a main portion of chicken tikka the dry one. But I don't have anything with it. Desert/sweet treats I have a yogurt/simlar thats low/fat free low calories high protein. I have skinny bar probably every few days. So they are my food treats to stop it being boring.

I was really angry with myself a few days back i had KFC worst thing i could have chosen. I didn't even enjoy it. So it feels that much worse. Maybe its good i didn't like it 🤔

I do enjoy wearing better clothes now they sit better and I dont feel frumpy. But my stomach/waist/torso isn't right. Even with clothes that fit comfortably i still get a muffin top. Which is really winding me up.

And yeah I keep thinking back to a time when I was happy with my weight. But I was younger and its not gonna happen 😌

Good luck with the rest of your weight lose journey 💪
