If you stopped WLIs because of vomiting

How long did it take to stop completely?

I’ve been on WLI since Oct and lost 3 st.
Have done this healthily, eating high protein , fibre, no alcohol, weightlifting all on 2.5mg am now a healthy BMI - then in Feb when I tried 5mg after a plateau… the vomiting started.

I tried going back to 2.5 but it continued. Benn completely off WLIs for 3 weeks now and my gastric emptying is still too slow. So a few hours after eating, I’m having to vomit. Not with every meal. But a few times a week. It’s horrible and concerning me. Have a chat with my Dr booked in tomorrow.
Has anyone else experienced this? Any words of reassurance greatly appreciated.

When you say having to vomit, are you forcing yourself to vomit because you feel so full?

SpringAndSunshineIsHere · 20/04/2026 19:48

No it’s just happening. Stomach is bloated, quite painful like acid feeling then i vomit and feel ok again.

I thought it would go when I stopped the meds. But it’s taking ages

I hope your appt with your GP sheds some light on it! It seems odd to still be affecting you!

Thanks. I’m obviously very sensitive to it, hence almost reaching target on 2.5mgs.

I’m just wondering if anyone else had this issue and came off.

The internet tells me it can take a month to completely leave your body. So maybe I just need to wait a bit longer

It’s a five day shelf life, so every five days it halves

so inject day 1, 2.5
day 5 you’ve 1.25 in your system
day 10, you’ve 0.63
dat 15 you’ve 0.3
day 20, where you are now, it’s 0.15

so basically nothing,

as such, it would indicate something else is wrong and it’s not the drug, so seeing your doctor is key, you could have developed kidney stones or something, as obesity causes it, as does not drinking enough water. And the meds are cone incidental.

a lot of people seem to think if they get ill whilst taking the drugs it has to be the drugs, and forget we get ill as humans,

Yes sure people get ill.

My current research is pointing to it being gastroparesis, a disorder where stomach muscles slow or stop moving food into the small intestine without a blockage. Common symptoms include nausea, vomiting, and feeling full shortly after eating. This has been caused by WLIs and only showed up when I increased my dose, this is a reported side effect.

Am hoping the Dr will be able to help me heal this. It’s horrible.

As I asked in the op, I’d find it really helpful to hear from anyone else who has experienced this.

That’s very rare indeed. Less than 1 percent, range is about less than half a percent of people,

id stop the meds immediately,if not already. Good luck, and sad for you, you e been very unlucky indeed it that’s the case.
