Mounjaro / Wegovy with > 5st / 30kg to lose - Alumni Maintenance Thread

Trying the new Community groups feature for a maintenance focussed thread for our Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose alumni 👩‍🎓

All Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose posters and lurkers who enjoyed the supportive weight loss thread welcome whether you have graduated to maintenance already or getting close and pondering what happens next!

I expect this thread will be much quieter than our main Mounjaro/Wegovy with >5 stone/30kg to lose thread (which has been running for almost 2 years now!) as it feels intensity drops when in maintenance, but it would be great to keep in touch with everyone now and again and how we are all getting on post-weight loss and what we find works / doesn't work.

I'll start the thread with Mumsnet maintenance posts most repeated practical maintenance advice gathered by asking CoPilot to look at the board -

🚫 Don’t stop abruptly – taper your dose and/or slowly space injections; stopping suddenly often means hunger and regain

🎯 Aim for the lowest dose that keeps food noise calm, not zero at all costs

🍽️ Expect appetite to return – hunger is normal in maintenance, not a personal failure

🔄 Don’t jump from dieting straight to “normal eating” – a slow reverse diet (adding food gradually) helps weight stay off

🍗 Keep protein‑first habits and the smaller portions you learned while losing

🏥 Check your provider supports maintenance (some stop prescribing below certain BMIs)

📏 Allow a weight “zone” (±2–5 lb) rather than chasing one exact number

🧠 Weigh less often – watch trends, not single‑day/week blips

🚶‍♀️💪 Walk regularly; add gentle strength if you can – movement supports stability and confidence

💭 Expect maintenance to feel mentally harder than loss – less scale feedback doesn’t mean you aren’t succeeding 💛

(Hope this works in the Mumsnet Community Group feature!)

Doh! have just realised I've changed my MN name since then - I was DottyDot back in the day 😊

RobinEllacotStrike · 13/05/2026 12:51

oh hello - can't believe its taken me a month to find you!!

I'm on 72-73kg, and this is perfect for me. I did try to get below 70kg but realistically and given my age its not going to happen.

I'm still on MJ 15 for one more week then starting the tiration down.

DD is off to Uni in September and I'll need to give her ££ every month so I need to get off these expensive jabs, but frankly I am terrified of putting weight back on.

Hooray the maintenance pills are coming over the hills <taps foot>

👋 @RobinEllacotStrike thanks for the link to the article.

Similar to when many people switched to Wegovy after the price hikes, it will be interesting how the early adopters of the pill respond in real life. Such as, if someone is maintaining on 15mg Mounjaro will the pills be effective enough, or are they lighter touch and more suitable for someone who is currently maintaining/successfully titrated down to a lower dose of Mounjaro before switching? Do they also help with inflammation?

Lets hope the scalability and cheaper to produce they talk about in the article translates to much cheaper prices so more people have access to some treatments.

I know what you mean being "terrified" about putting weight back on, my weight has yoyoed most of my adult life, this time it needs to stick. Previously 2nd tries of any dieting style could not be sustained for long and I am too bloody old to stay on that weight gain/loss rollercoaster. Plus I cleared out ALL non-fitting clothes a couple of weeks ago! Wardrobe is nearly empty!

I am hoping checking in here every week we all help keep each other accountable!

Treated myself to some lovely new clothes today at a local sample sale. Including my first ever jumpsuit- it’s silk & delicious. No way I could wear jumpsuits before.

My fifth (🤣😬🫣) jumpsuit has just arrived from Vinted. I LOVE them… so comfy, but so stylish. I must step away from Vinted…

Questions1234 · 16/05/2026 15:13

My update this week is that in dropping my dose to 7.5, food noise and some (but no way as bad as pre-MJ) impulsive eating has come back. My weight hasn’t continued to drop (actually gone up a small amount this week), so will hold steady on 7.5 and see what next week brings.

But I think this sums up my conundrum… do I dose for the food noise? All along I’ve been happy to have some noise to deal with, but this feels like it’s tipped into unhelpful…

WeAllHaveWings · 16/05/2026 19:22

Welcome to the thread @Ohmeohmy4 !

Week 22 of maintenance - this weeks weigh-in is a 1lb loss keeping me towards the top of my maintenance zone, still not as comfortably in it as I'd like but I am in it! ✅

@Questions1234 I hear you on the food noise. Some days it’s louder than others and I hear the fridge calling, screaming, to me again, like it did pre Mounjaro - intrusive thoughts about food when not genuinely hungry.

Because it was quiet for so long, I am trying to think of it as a "symptom" of chronic obesity to help me deal with it. The noise is there but I get to choose how I respond to it.

So my focus is consistency, not perfection - trying to recognise triggers, distraction, keeping easy/healthy foods around, eating protein if I’m genuinely hungry, and not slipping back into old habits like evening or secret snacking of empty calories. Life is too short not to have treats, such as when out, but I try to avoid having them as a habit or in response to food noise.

I’ve definitely overdone it a few times recently 🙈, and went to bed early a couple of times too to avoid snacking 😂 but feel Im winning more often than not so far 🤞

Hi ..I've been on monjroro approx 18 months ,I've lost over ten stone ,but it's very slow now ..
I think I've been reading to much on line and got quite scared of coming of it .
So many horror stories about people piling the weight back on , despite keeping calories the same .
I can't quite make the decision what to do .Im just reading through this thread to see if any of you mention what it was like coming of 15 mg

I think we're all relatively early in our maintenance journey so finding (stumbling) our way. I would say that the anecdotal evidence out there, on here etc, says that if you've ended up on 15mg you're better off titrating slowly down through all the doses.

I intend to stay at 5mg for a while, having only gone as high as 10 and only started titrating down in March. I can definitely feel more hunger towards the end of the week. I never had bad food noise and wasn't a binge eater even before MJ so I'm hoping it doesn't start now!!

So far so good and I've lost a bit more - I was 10st 11.75 this morning. Which is fine - I'm going on holiday in early June and a bit of leeway before that would be sensible. My BMI is still at the upper end of healthy (23).

Just for the thread here's my stats:

5ft 8, mid 50s.

Started MJ: 24th March 2025.
SW 17st 4
GW 11st 4 (reached in early March)
CW 10st 11.75

Ohmeohmy4 · 16/05/2026 20:45

I think I will go down to 12 mg on my next pen ,and take things from there .
I can be a bit all or nothing personality wise
So I need to make sure I'm being sensible with this
I don't want to shock my system in to putting weight on .
So down to 12 mg ,and hopefully I cope with that ,so I can go to 10 mg the following month

Rosetime · 17/05/2026 07:46

Hi, all. I am inspired and encouraged by your posts. I have posted earlier at the start of this group.
I am not yet at my goal weight but the question of 'what next' is ever present for me.
I would continue to keep up with this thread and hope to join you in a few months.

LaurieFairyCake · 17/05/2026 19:39

Moobaggage that’s fantastic! Well done you 😊

GiveMeWordGames · 27/05/2026 17:58

Definitely noticing a bit of heat related water retention but only to the tune of a lb or so. Constantly hydrating to counteract it but not too worried.

And my hairdresser today confirmed I'm getting regrowth so the thinning is over. 👍

WeAllHaveWings · 27/05/2026 18:15

@GiveMeWordGames "Roasting" today here in Scotland with a balmy 22 degrees 🤣

Seriously though, in my WFH office, desk beside a south facing window, the temperature according to the carbon monoxide detector hit 24 degrees indoors today. Usually my head would be bursting, my face would be red, and I would have had my two desk fans (one at foot level for my previously swollen ankles) blasting all day trying to keep cool, but I haven't had them on all day.

Warm weather is much more pleasant with less insulation! It makes up for having to have a heated blanket all winter!

How warm is it where you are?

That is very good news from your hairdresser!

@WeAllHaveWings I'm firmly in the heatwave south east so basically mid 30s yesterday. Bit cooler today. 28-29

Definitely so much better with 5.5 stone less personal insulation!!

WeAllHaveWings · 27/05/2026 18:49

Yikes @GiveMeWordGames ! I would melt at 30+ with my cold Scottish blood - we don't cope with that heat up here well!

This tweet from a few years back, that went a bit viral, was even on regional TV, sums up those temperature whenever they hit Scotland which is thankfully not often! 🤣
