Weight loss injections after two years and feeling stuck near goal

Hi fellow warriors😊

I’m hoping to hear about similar experiences, advice, support….i’ve been on MJ 15mg for 2 years (apart from during holidays),I lost 30kg in the first 10
months, and nothing since then. After decades of yo-yo ing,to lose any weight, I had to eat EXTREMELY little, then every holiday, I’d gain about a stone in no time ( while still being active& reasonably careful what I eat 😖😑),then I’d spend months near fasting to shift the extra weight, then again …
The last few months, I’ve been doing everything to lose that last stone I would like to lose to be in the middle of my normal BMI, before a surgery in July. ( & for a bit of holiday buffer!), and it’s just going nowhere ..I do spin classes twice a week , walk a lot , eat super healthy and very little, I’ve spent a small fortune on maximum MJ ( & banned myself from
holidays till then)..and my weight is still stuck at just under BMI 26😖. The jab affects my mood ( depression), so I never intended to take such high dose for so long, and can’t wait to stop and feel
hoy again!
I’m wondering what worked for other people and how they stayed motivated etc… any input is greatly appreciated- thank you all 💓

Well done on picking it up again. You’ve already done so well and must look great as 26 bmi. I’m at 28 bmi in my mid 50s. I don’t expect to even get to 25 bmi, I already look ok at 28, I’d love to get another stone off, which would take me to 26.5 bmi.

Im like you, I don’t respond particularly well with MJ. I’m currently using up what I bulk bought, so am on a 12.5 and have a 15 to go and a 2.5 for titration. Then I’m going to stop. I don’t think it’s worth the expense at this point. I might book myself a few personal training sessions a week for a while with the money I save. I hope that my food habits are ok, as I’ve had to rely on them a lot as I’ve not had suppression.

I don’t think cutting carbs or fasting is a great plan for long term. You need to train yourself to eat a balanced, healthy diet within your calorie requirements and exercise. Cutting parts of a healthy diet out in your 50s won’t help your old age. I’m not saying stuff yourself on carbs, but some small portions of whole meal pasta or brown rice, or the odd baked potato or slice of seeded brown bread is not going to hurt you! It’s also slow release energy, which helps.

Good luck with the operation. That’s a curve ball for the future you’ll have to be ready for..

You’ve done so well! Don’t beat yourself up over the last bit! I’d really recommend trying to find a women’s gym who do nutrition coaching and high intensity resistance training and weight lifting for your age group.. it can be a life changer honestly. Sometimes your body needs variety in exercise to sort of shock it into working differently and building muscle and strength. Not heavy stuff just different to the cardio .. fun too. They’ll help you get eating sorted as you taper down the mj x

Your personal experiences have been helpful beyond what I could have imagined, somewhere on the journey I lost my way a bit and that’s just what I needed to reset, have a reality check& feel back on the saddle again.

Logging calories is such breakthrough! It’s day 4, I am enjoying preparing & portioning colourful salads /meals, logging every bit and not feeling hungry at all (on just under 1000 Cal - I can’t believe it- 😁🧐).

And for the first time in my adult life I’ve today hit BMI 25 exactly 🥳.
I have no idea why it took me 2 years to do the obvious& proven approach !! All I can say is thank you 🙄😑😬

Early days so I’ll carry on and see what happens, but I’m buzzing with energy 🐝 and it’s the best I felt since the very start about 2 years ago. Definitely to do with the varied balanced fresh ‘live’ food I’m enjoying and the fresh mindset. You are so right @Gingercar ! I will stop regular jabs too, once I use my little stash. So giving it the last hurrah. (will always want an emergency jab in my fridge for when I go rogue .. it’s a matter of when, not if 😆). Thank you for the good wishes 😊 (yes, I have to distract myself, once it sinks in, I’ll be terrified and questioning everything! ).

@Ddoodkey Shocking’ the system into reset really works, our bodies are so adaptive& ‘clever’ !(in the first year, when my weight just wouldn’t budge, I’d occasionally throw in a full fasting day and things would shift.. desperation helps 😂) . Weight/resistance training is a much better idea, especially to sustain, I feel motivated to start again🌻

I want to say well done as well. I see so many posters not lose weight and swear blind ghey barely eat. The fact is no one is a medical marvel. Our biology is the same,

if you don’t consume enough cals to fuel your body, it burns fat or muscle to fuel it. This is called eating in a defecit. When your body burns fat or muscle, it no longer exists, and therefore you body weighs less.

i see so much, i barely eat, I exist on 1000 cals. My body hangs onto the weight, it’s my set point etc etc, when the simple truth is if you’re not losing you’re eating to maintenance.

so well done in taking action and weighing and measuring so you can be accurate. You will see the results soon enough.

Plateaus are really common after the initial loss on MJ, especially when you’re already fairly close to a healthy BMI.
At this stage it’s often more about small adjustments and consistency rather than pushing harder with restriction. If the medication is affecting mood, it’s definitely worth discussing with your prescriber before making any changes.
